Wind blew fiercely over the small secluded island. Waves crashed along the soft sandy shore, almost reaching the tree line. The vegetation that covered most of the island swayed. Only the Volcanic spire that stuck out of the trees seemed largely unaffected. The usual serenity that covered the island was swept away. Water exploded out of nowhere on the top of the rocky spire. The water fell back down to the ground, but the mist was blown away on the wind. Haldur stood where the water had exploded only a moment before. The wind moved his unusually long hair. He hadn't cut it since he had left, and it had grown down almost to his shoulders.
Haldur faced the wind with an expression that showed nothing of his emotions. He was conflicted still about his decision to return. He wasn't sure what remained for him here, and yet he felt the pull of his home country again. His eyes darted around, studying the island. It was just the same as when he had left it. He had gone there to be alone after the death of the Mizukage, and to train. Since then he had honed himself to near perfection, but that did not stop his relentless search for knowledge and skill. He had come so far since then, and yet he had not moved at all. He wan't ready to return to the city itself. Not yet. He would set up his home here.
Haldur stepped lightly and effortlessly down the rocky slope. He knew a perfect place to set up his home. The shinobi returned to where he ad set up camp last time he was on the island. It was a small inlet. The lean-to that he had made last time was still standing in the same place. It wouldn't do now. Haldur made the handseal. Copies of himself appeared in small puffs of smoke. Watery swords formed in their hands, and with a blink of the eye they were scattered across the island. Vegetation fell all across the island.
Nightfall had already set by the time they were done. A small wooden house stood near the beach instead of a lean-to. It was made of wood and bamboo. It was a simple affair, only one floor and two rooms. No indoor plumbing yet, but he would take care of that later. He would have to keep on expanding it. It would shelter him from the wind for now though. The clones disappeared into puffs of smoke again. Haldur entered the house and slept. He would return to Kirigakure the next day.
Daybreak came as it inevitably does. The wind of the previous day had died. Haldur went out for a morning jog across the ocean. His feet made small ripples in the calm waters as he ran. It wasn't long before he approached the shore, and then the city. It was as busy and bustling as when he had left. Haldur didn't think anyone would recognize him. His longer hair and the stubble that would eventually become a beard was disguise enough. He carried what money he had with him. He went first to the docks. There was a boat salesman based there. His eyes surveyed the boats there critically. Finally he seemed to find one that satisfied him. He walked up to the boat salesman. "Hello there sir. I'd like to buy a boat. That one, in fact" He pointed towards the one he wanted, moored to the docks. "I think this should be enough" Haldur emptied an assortment of odd gold coins into his hand. It wasn't the standard currency, but the salesman's eyes gleamed at the sight of that much gold. It was more than enough for the boat. "That'll do fine, sir. Would you want the extended warranty...?" He trailed off. Haldur had already turned and walked towards the boat. It would be useful for ferrying supplies. Next was the hardware store...
It was more than a week that Haldur spent working on his new home. He would always divide up into clones for the work. One or two would gather and ferry supplies while the others toiled on the house. He stayed out of any trouble and avoided notice whenever possible. He didn't really want anyone to know that he was back yet. Finally the house was finished. it was a three-story pagoda style building. Each floor itself was relatively small, but the three floors together were roomy enough for one person. The furnishings were spartan and sparse, but they were enough for Haldur. The roofs were tiled and covered with solar panels which powered the house. the floors he left as hardwood, but the walls were really more window than wall. They looked out over the island and over the ocean, each a beautiful view. He was satisfied with it. The feeling of creating something like this gave Haldur a sort of satisfaction that he rarely knew. This was one place where he truly felt at home, even though he hadn't lived there long. The house would become his base of operations for the time being. What operations he would need a base for he didn't know, but he was glad he didn't have to live in the city itself. He liked his solitude.
Day broke yet again. What was to come he didn't know, but Haldur felt a twinge of excitement. Maybe it was finally time to rejoin the ranks of his comrades in Kiri.
OOC: Ahh, I'm a bit rusty. I gotta get back into my groove... _________________
