I'm gonna end Haldur's storyline soon, so I thought I might as well get started with the new characters.
Name: Val Arashikage
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Height: 5'9"
Weight: ~150 lb.
Appearence: Val is lean and muscular. He has blue eyes, and his straight blond hair is always cut short. His face and parts of his neck are heavily scarred. His chest and shoulders also have some lighter scarring. On his right arm is a red tatoo of the I ching hexagram 63, the symbol of the Arashikage clan.
Val always keeps his face hidden due to his scarring. On missions he wears a full bodied black suit for stealth purposes, along with a visor to cover his eyes (see my avatar). When not on a mission or other ninja duties, he wears a black hood and a balaclava, revealing only his eyes. Even from the small part visible on his face, it is obvious that he is heavily scarred.

Main/Favored Weapon: Dual Ninjato, modified throwing knives
He uses a different type of throwing knife that is smaller and thinner. It is easier to throw accurately and quickly, but cannot really be used as a meele weapon. It is thrown differently, and can spin end over end, unlike the straight throw of a kunai.

Fighting Type/Style: Taijutsu, Genjutsu
Strengths:
Val is an excellent swordsman. He is also probably the stealthies Chuunin at Konoha. He is able to be almost completely silent, even in the middle of a fight. Val is also extremely fast and agile, able to deliver series of kicks and slashes at eye-watering speed. Val is very good at judging things like arcs, speeds, and other factors that make it easy for him to predict where something is going to be and intercept it. He is fairly mentaly tough and does what he sees as his duty without question or complaint.
Weaknesses:
Val is mute. The attack he suffered when he was younger permanently damaged his vocal chords, and he is no longer able to talk. He also suffered some serious scarring to his face, and keeps it hidden most of the time. He sometimes has a hard time communicating with people and is often considered loner by himself and others. He dosen't use any offensive ninjutsu, and is a bit less versitile for it. He can be overly sentimental at times, and always carries around a photo of his twin sister.

Background:
Val's background is shrouded in mystery, and he never speaks about it (or anything for that matter).
Val was orphaned in a conflict when he was fairly young, losing his parents and a twin sister. He was hit by shrapnel from the explosion that killed his family. Val was scarred from that incedent both pysically and mentally. He sustained damage to his face and vocal cords and cannot speak anymore. He was found shortly after by the Arashikage clan leader, who raised and trained him as an Arashikage member. This led to a rivalry between Val and the Arashikage's own son. His rival thought that his father was favoring Val because he proved to be slightly better. The Arashikage's son still resents Val for that.
After he completed his training with the Arashikage, he went off to Konoha, where he was born, to join the academy. He took the Genin exam his first day in Konoha, and passed with full marks. He spent a year training with his genin sensei, and then he took a year off to go back and train with the Arashikage clan. When he returned he brought back with him a new animal companion, a wolf he had simply named "Timber". Through Timber he made a contract with wolves, allowing him to summon one of their number for a time. He and his animal companion participated in the Chuunin exams that year. He made it to the semi-finals, but ended in a stalemate with a member of the naara clan. He graduated anyways, and spent another year training and doing missions and other work. He returned from his most recent trip to the Arashikage clan very somber, and refuses to recount what happened.
Sample Post:
An arrow passes between Val and his opponent, knocking the two kunai off their paths and sending them tumbling to the ground. "This fight is mine." A voice calls out from the entreance to the Kage's tower. "Do not interfere." A white-clad shinobi shinobi holding a composite bow steps out of the shadows in the doorway. He wears a white hood with a reddish tan mask beneath that covers all of his face except his eyes. His upper arms are bare, but his forearms are covered by white gloves. The two ninjato on his back look oddly similar to those carried by Val. He has an arrow nocked and is staring intently at Val. "Nice to see you again, brother." The white ninja says in a deadly voice.
Val has one sword already drawn, but he slowly reaches back with his left hand to draw his second. He very rarely fights with both his swords. Val starts with his Arashikage fighting stance, eyeing his rival carefully from under his visor. The white shinobi steps out into the clearing and draws his bow back to his ear. They both suddenly spring into action at the same time. Val's opponent already has his second arrow in the air, and is pulling back for his third by the time the first one reaches where Val had stood. Val had already started closing in on his opponent, however. He ran in an arc, staying one step ahead of the arrows whizzing past his head and chest He reached his opponent and vaulted over him, slashing with both swords as he did, but the other ninja had already drawn his swords. He blocked the attacks deftly and both of them paused for a moment, resuming their fighting stances. They mirrored eachother, waiting for the other to move.
At once, Val adopted the stance for the dance of the willow, slightly modified by his training with the arashikage sword masters. He flowed outwards in an attack, but was met by his sword-brother's blades. The both moved fluidly, attacking, parrying, and counter-attacking. Niether blade had drawn blood, and they appeared evenly matched. It almost appeared as thought they were dancing, and one could almost forget the deadly steel they wielded agains eachother. Niether of them dared use kicks, as they would all to easily be blocked by the blade of a sword. Suddenly, Val changed tactics. He thrust both swords sharply at the white clothed ninja's chest. He was taken by suprise, and barely managed to bat the blades away. Val had expected this, however. He pushed off the ground, tensing and planting both legs on his opponent's chest. He pushed off explosivly, sending them rocketing away from eachother. At once val brought out a handful of explosivly tagged knives, flicking them deftly at his rival. They were met in mid air by a fireball launched at the same time by his enemy. They collided in a lagre explosion, scarring and pitting the ground beneath it. Both ninja landed, and the white hooded ninja's eyes met with Val's visor. Val flicked out two more knives at eye blurring speed, and followed them on their way over with the Hien jutsu. The other ninja readied himself in the scant moments as they approached. He spun to meet them, swords flashing. The throwing knives shot off in opposite directions, and Val's swords were locked with his opponent's for a moment in mid air, but Val vaulted over him and they resumed their former stances. The fight had just begun.
