Mounted on the back of a young stallion, a fourteen year old boy was inspired by rolling clouds carpeting the Lightening Country. He watched as the unmoving giants poked out and commanded a large chunk of the Lightening Countries terrain. Fixing his black garb that he’d wrapped around himself to hide his features, he tightened his grip on the horse’s reigns and steered his horse from the edge of the massive cliff down the mountains sharp slopes. Before him laid a tough challenge that with a snap of the reigns he was speeding down its dangerous slopes jumping from rock to rock passing over lose pebbles and terrible pot holes and sharp terrain. Within 10 minutes, the two as one had touched the base of the mountain and Masakado, the young boy, began searching for the perfect secluded place to practice. Pushing his steed to the limits, they went cruised the forests until the found a small clearing in the middle with a small pond filled with lily pads and sleeping frogs. Here he was secluded in a thin layer of fog surrounded by a line of trees that made the chance of him being bothered, slime but not impossible.
Perfect Masakado thought jumping off his stead and tying his horse to a nearby tree.
“Time to practice my jutsus!” Masakado cheerfully sounded taking a seat in front of the small pond. Name: Kinobori no Waza - Act of Tree Climbing
Type: Ninjutsu
Rank: C
Requirements: None
Description: A skill that every self-respecting shinobi must have. It is based on concentrating chakra to the soles of one's feet and using it to stick to objects, which would allow one to walk on vertical surfaces and even upside down. This is also often used as chakra control training, since the soles of the feet are said to be the hardest place to control your chakra.
"Ah, let’s see..." The boy's hands disappeared into his flak jacket and pulled out a small tightly bounded scroll that took him a few seconds to unravel. Carefully he opened the scroll reading the title aloud since he was by himself and it was easier to translate the text if he spoke it. He was not the fastest reader, but he his attention to detail was amazing. He carefully deciphered the writing as: "Kinobori no Waza (Act of Tree Climbing.)"
"This doesn't look so hard." Masakado said reading through the steps. His eyes flickered up and gazed back at a tree that sat behind him.
"I can do this with my eyes closed." He boosted taking a deep breath. He laughed quietly to himself and stood up pulling out a senbon from his pocket. He hung the scroll up by its strings and used the senbon as a nail to hang on, since a senbon looked like a lethal nail after all.
“Ok, so the first step says: Collect chakra at the flat of your feet and maintain it.” He brought his hands together and formed a hand seal ‘Tatsu.’ Tatsu was natural seal that Masakado felt best heightened his perceptions of chakra. One could even say that it was a particular hand seal that he used to alleviate stress. Using his hand seal to morph his chakra he silently began funneling his chakra towards his feet.

His chakra, under his guidance, felt like small tendrils wrapping along his feet covering the bottom of his shoes entirely. He smiled feeling this tingling sensation throbbing from his toes fore it tickled. His toes where very ticklish and he was ashamed to say sensitive to touch. After a few minutes of maintaining this stance, he got the bright idea to open his eyes and reading what the next step would be. As soon as he opened his eyes, he lost concentration and he felt the chakra dissipate. He’d curse abit over how easily that connection had been broken, but he needed to know what to do next. It wasn’t like he was trying to learn how to stand still.
“Next step: Move around while maintaining this link.” He read aloud once again.
That seemed sensible to him. However, he would need to watch his concentration because he lost it just thinking about opening his eyes and reading. He drew in a deep breath and began concentrating on this next feat. Eyes open this time, he focused his chakra feeling the same sensations once more. A tingling in his feet and he was done with the link. He flexed his toes and began to walk.
This feat wasn’t hard but it wasn’t simple. Having a natural sense for chakra control, he carefully picked his feet up and began walking. The feat was interestingly simple; however, it was very tiring. He didn’t know why, but maybe it was all the chakra that he was using to maintain it. An expert would have pointed this out long before, but Masakado didn’t have anyone there to help him. Running about, he found it somewhat easier to move. His feet were moved faster with the aid of chakra and he found himself enjoying this particular feature, yet he suddenly stopped.
“Am I using too much chakra to do this?” He asked. He’d watched other ninjas do this, but they didn’t seem to be getting fatigued as fast as him. Taking this into account, he carefully walked over to the tree and began reading the next step.
“Step: Try running up a tree. Make sure you mark where you fall. Helpful notes: If you use too much chakra, you will break the bark of the tree. If you use to little, you will not make it far.” Masakado read.
His eyes wandered to a tree on his right. Still maintaining the chakra around his feet he took off running. His strides were long as he kicked his foot up and began his journey up the oak tree. Within the first step he felt almost an explosion beneath his feet as he took his first step against the bark. His second step he hoped would grip, but he fell off the tree with out much effort.
Grumbling beneath his breath, he tried again. Yet, this time with a little less chakra emitting at his feet he got his running start and the wood seemed to stick.

“I’m doing it… I’m doing it!” Masakado shouted as he ran up the tree. His feet trudged along and half way up the tree he felt a surge in chakra along the soles of his feet and he quickly marked his progress. He fells back measuring how far he got. Half way of a 20 meter tree was brilliant in his opinion. He congratulated himself and prepared himself for another trip up. He took his spot 12 feet from the base of the tree and covered the bottoms of his feet in chakra again. He took a deep breath and took off. He trudged making his way up again passing his previous mark and then he felt the bark beneath his feet explode.

A groan vibrated from his lips as he fell again and this time he landed with his legs crossed and his fingers stroking his bare chin. His eyes inspected the scene and he began addressing the problem aloud:“Why did the tree bark break? I was doing everything perfectly. My chakra was steady, yet I broke the tree bark. Maybe, I’m going about this all wrong. Maybe the chakra flow shouldn’t be steady; it should reflect the bark itself. Because the entire tree is not covered I the same thickness of bark. Some areas are newer growth and take less the the other spots. I have an idea.”
Masakado stood up and returned to his starting point. He scrutinized the tree once, than twice, and took off running once he was satisfied he’d noted everything. He was careful to pay attention to how the chakra affected felt against the soles of his feet and as he ran up, he began to enact his hypothesis. He past where the bark of the tree had exploded under the stress of his chakra and he climbed all the way to a branch successfully.

Raising his hands in the air, he cheered for his success. It was truly spectacular how he’d conquered this jutsu by himself. He even decided to pat himself on the back while doing his ‘I am awesome’ dance. As he finished, he heard his steed snort and Masakado was somewhat offended by this.
“Did you not just see me do all that hard work? You should be grateful to the hand that feeds you!” Masakado warned the horse and than ignored him again returning to his situation. He decided that he was going to try all the aspects of this jutsu. In stead of running, he walked. He carefully took his time walking around the base of the tree and carefully took his time walking up and down the tree. He stopped pulling out a watch from his pocket and flipped it open to tell the time upside-down. He laughed at his silliness and began his descent down.

When he made it to the bottom, he carefully danced over to his scroll and looked to see if he’d missed anything. Surprising, there was a last step. Resting his hand on his hip, Masakado read aloud once more the last step. “The Last step – thank the hermits – Send in your thoughts of this guide to…” Masakado stopped reading and started swearing. He pulled out his senbon from the tree and carefully sealed the scroll again. He placed the scroll in his pocket and excitedly returned to his steed.
“ Did you see me? I can walk on walls now? I’m like spiderman!” He laughed looking back at the tree next to his horse and began walking up it. “See, I can do it! You and your negativity said I couldn’t but I can.” (8/9) _________________
With the brightest grin, Masakado released himself from the tree and landed gracefully on the horses back. He untied the horse and gazed around at the place he’d once used as a jutsu training ground. He’d have to remember it because it served his purposes well. Taking a deep breath after mentally exhausting himself he leaned back in his saddle and let his steed find the way.
“ Let's go home boy, I need to take a nap and eat something… In the reverse order though!” He said.
The horse nodded its head and began walking in the direction where two trees parted. Was it the direction of home? No one really knows in the clouded forests of Kumogakure. You just kind of go with the flow of things.
