My friend had an Xbox and got two weeks ago Halo 1, 2, 3 and Wars. He decided to go on a streak to finish the games the fastest as possible and at the middle of the 2nd Game, so Halo 2, the disk melted inside the Xbox. He told me this about a week ago and sent it in. His warranty had expired like a month ago and he was pissed as hell for that.
Kind'of the samething that happened to you Roar except it was R3d Rings of D3ath took it away from you. My prayers go to you!

That means that thing was never really turned off; SO it basically over heated.

Nothing wrong with long play sessions. Was his Xbox upright on on it's side, was it on a carpet, was it well ventilated, was the power brick FAR away from the console, were the wires close to the system or the power brick?
Because I leave my Xbox on forever, and it has never ever overheated.
