Darc watched as the Hokage walked up the tree. He watched his father do it many times before but he could never copy it becuase even though he has a lot of chakra for his age, he has very little control over it. Darc waved his arm in a windmill getting the feeling back. He couldn't believe that there were people this strong in the world. Darc remembered the wounds on his body for failing his father. He wondered if his new instructor would punish him like his father did. When his father punished him, he could actually see his father attacking but the Hokage looked like he was standing still. He did not want to be punished by the Hokage. He placed his hands in the Ram seal and closed his eyes preparing to walk up the tree.

He could feel his chakra swirling around him. He never could control his chakra well enoguh but now was definately the time to do it. He channelled his chakra to his feet. He opened his eyes and headed towards the tree. Darc started to walk up the tree as the Hokage did but the moment his second foot left the ground, he fell flat on his back. He looked up at the Hokage but his face remained emotionless. Darc sighed and muttered a few words to himself. He flipped to his feet and placed his hand in the rat seal again and channeled his chakra to try again.

Darc took a step step up the tree but the moment his foot touched the tree, it cracked and he fell on his back again. Falling from this distance did not hurt him physically but it did hurt his pride. "I will not lose to a tree" he muttered to himself as he climbed to his feet. Darc started walking up the tree, this time he made it up the tree about four feet before he fell. This time he bounced back to his feet immediately. A fire in his eyes as his determination increased. Darc jumped backwards and ran full speed at the tree he ran about 7 steps up the tree but felt hisfoot slip so he kicked off of the tree and flipped to his feet. He landed hard on the ground and slid back. He looked at the tree and smiled.

This is it. He could feel himself gaining control over his chakra. "I know I will not fail" An image of his father in an Anbu mask appeared in his mind. "I wish not to be punished. I wish to succeed. I wish to become the best." Darc ran up the tree for hours and hours as his master watched silently. Darc soon forgot that he was not alone and all of his attention was diverted to the tree. He closed his eyes and cleared his mind of all thoughts except the ones necessary to aid him in climbing the tree. When he opened his eyes, it was all clear to him. With more confidence than ever, he ran towards the tree

He could definately do this. He raced up the tree and made it pass a few branches and kept going. He was funning full speed now and started getting happy. In his mind he shouted "I'm about to make it" it was a small sentence but it was enough to make him lose his focus. He fell a few paces from the top. Darc fell backwards but he managed to turn and land on his feet. He started breathing heavilyand fell to one knee. He felt himself getting tired but he didn't want to rest, he wanted to learn this technique as quick as possible so that he could move on to his next lesson. He needed to progress quickly and no tree was gonna stand in his way. Darc stood up renewed as if he used the Gate of Life technique. He stared at the tree as if it were his enemy as he prepared to climb it.

He cursed his immaturity inside. His father always told him never to get excited, especially when in a battle. Excitement could mess up his concentration. He stared the tree down and decided that every challenge that he took was a battle. Be it fighting with a person or a learning a jutsu everything in life was a battle. Darc held the Ram seal and focused his chakra. As soon as he felt it focus on his feet, he ran at the tree with an energy coming from seemingly no where. He did a half front flip and landed with his feet planted against the tree. As soon as his feet connected with the tree, he continued running up it. The closer he got to the top, the faster he seemed to run. He noticed that there was no where left to run up so he stopped and hopped to the closet branch. He looked stupified for a secnd, not believing that he actually made it to the top. He looked around for abit and spied his teacher, Darc didn't smile, he didn't get excited, he just thought one lonely word in his head as he stood there breathing heavily and awaiting his teachers next words. Success.
