Dinner(Eric and Syra only)

"Sure. I don't mind." Eric said, paying for the meal before they headed outside. "And just for the record, I don't have to be your best friend for you to be mine. AFter all, you're my first friend. That automatically makes you my best friend, even if the feeling isn't mutual." he explaind. The night air was starting to get chilly as the sun has been down for many hours now. He thought that nights were not only the most beautiful parts of the day, but the most deadly for a shinobi. This was the hour many were out and about.

Syra kept looking around nervously as if expecting someone to jump out of the shadows. She turned to Eric before speaking hesitantly. " Thank you... I was wondering. Could I tell you something? It's - I have to say something. It's really, really important." S

he took a deep breath to regain her composure before continuing. Her face grew red and she stared with a look of embarrasment and joy at the ground. " I'm... I'm pregnant." She knew that would blow him out of the water, but she pressed on as if she had no time to wait. " I'm three months in, but I just realized a week ago. You're the first person I've told - It's a demon child!" She burst out at the end emphatically.

" My baby is half demon... more than half demon. It's aura is so powerful, I can feel it now, sleeping soundly, inside of me." She shook her head afterwards and peeked around with the anxious look on her lovely face.

" I'm afraid that someone will try to kill it. Half demon children are usually hunted. I don't want my baby to grow up trying to escape death; I don't want it to start now. Don't breathe a word of this to anyone. Please promise that you won't."

Eric looked like someone slapped him with a fist full of chakra. He had fought battles, killed people in the worst of ways, seen death in the face and brush it off like it was nothing. This took all of those achievements and swept them right out the door. His face then turned a bright red as he finally absorbed all the information. Right now, he couldn't tell if he was angry, jealous, envious, happy, or any combination of the emotions. He knew it was bound to happen to her eventually, but he knew those old flames he had for her were still burning, and right now they were pretty damn strong.

"That's......That's great. Congratulations. I won't tell anybody." He finally managed to say in an less than enthusiastic voice, as if someone was forcing him to say the words against his will.

" Don't sound all thrilled," She said a bit dryly although her voice peaked from her overzealous attitude. She waved her arms frantically as she tried to describe her enthusiasm. " It's just that... I'm bringing a life into this world... It's something to give meaning to my existence. She'll be the greatest, and I'll make damn sure of it. "Yeah......sure. I'll.......I'll see you later." Eric said, quickly turning around to make sure she didn't see the tear forming in his eyes, but he doubt he could ever turn away fast enough. He just never seemed to have luck in much of anything. He couldn't save his girlfriend, he couldn't bear to look at the person he just declared his first friend. He couldn't.......couldn't do a god damn thing except train, and become stronger. That's the only thing he was good at. That, and teaching taijutsu and weaponry to Kite. They were his only pride and joys now. Syra was gone.....Reileyn was gone.......and he was sure Konoha wasn't gonna welcome him with open arms among the ninja population.

He started to walk away from it all. Just like last time, even if he didn't want to repeat the mistakes of his past. After all, he was only human.

Syra shook her head and hurried over to him. She clasped him strongly on his shoulder. " Don't leave me," She said gruffly. There was worry strewn across her face but all her eyes had was fatigue. " I can't do this alone. I don't know how to raise a child... I need your help."

"I think I'm more shook up about this than you are." Eric said, refusing to look at her anymore. "I'll......I'll just see you later, alright?" he shook himself free of her grip and continued walking away, tears dripping from his face to the sidewalk were visible. He couldn't believe that Syra.....SYRA of all people would get knocked up. He knew the kind of girl she was, and making love to someone and getting pregnant with their child is something she really wouldn't do unless she was really lonely or something like that. She was always talking about her clan and how she was going to be the best. He really wanted that Syra right now, and not this one.

" I didn't plan on this okay? Things are just really messed up in my head right now!" She burst out, her voice shrill and increasingly growing louder. " Oh yes, it's like I wanted this to happen, but now that it has I have to deal with it. I don't know what I was thinking. I wasn't thinking straight; I didn't consider what might happen.

" I can assure you there's nothing going on between us. What happened was from my want of something more... But I didn't find it, that's for sure. I'm just as lonely as I was before." Her energy was exhausted; she slumped to the ground, leaning against the wall.

" Leave if you want. I won't stop you again."

Eric stopped right in his tracks. Syra's words gave him hope, at least it lifted his spirits somewhat. It wasn't planned, not too much wanted. Still, what happened, happened. There was no changing that choice that she had made. He knew what she was saying, he had been through it too. Only with Reileyn, he didn't go that far with her, though he had a really good chance to. After thinking of what he could do and say, he came to a decision and walked back up to Syra.

He pulled her up, and into his arms, where she could cry all she wanted to. "I know what you mean. Maybe a little better than you do since I went through it before you. Needless to say I didn't get anyone pregnant or anything, I tried to find something more, when I could have found that with you." he admitted. "I'm......sorry that our relationship ended the way that it did......and I wanna give it one last chance." With that, he pulled down his face mask and pressed his lips to hers, probably for the last time.

She was a little surprised but did not have the energy to resist. She let him kiss for a moment longer before pulling her head back. She looked into his eyes and saw truth. She couldn't bear to look too long. She dropped her gaze lower before talking.

" I... I don't know. I don't want to start something until I'm sure I know who I am. Could we just put this on hiatus for now? We can be friends in the meantime. Come on, we should call it a night." She used his shoulder to pull herself up to her feet, continuously grunting along the journey.

She was starting to feel the effects of her pregnancy; she was getting slower and less limbre. It would be difficult for her to fight Katsuga in this condition. There was no possibility she could train herself to reshape her bloodline in time either.
