The deceased kunoichi's prediction was correct. It only took Ukyo a few tries before he succeeded in performing the technique. It requires considerably more chakra than the Transfer jutsu, but its power was far beyond that of its predecessor. The jounin was quite satisfied with the quick success, yet disappointed at the same time. The technique turned out to be just too easy. And here you were, waiting for another challenge, eh? Hehe... Um, what's so funny? Yes, I expected the technique to be much harder to perform, so what? Oh, nothing, nothing at all... except for... you didn't actually perform the jutsu. Huh? What do you mean? I most certainly did. Right and wrong... what you did was a very powerful version of Transfer jutsu, and partially the Touch of Death technique... Partially? What do you mean? _________________

You see, the whole point of this technique is to perform it without using the swords. What? How is that possible? It's the swords' power to control temperature, so how do I do it without using them? I told you before, this power is as much of the swords as it is yours. You have made a very close bond with the blades - and us - by now, and with a bit concentration, you should be able to "feel" the swords, as if they were parts of your own body. Feel them? That's... ridiculous! How can I "feel" objects as if they were parts of my body? Easy! Just stop thinking that it's illogical and try it. Concentrate on the swords. Think of them as living things, as part of your own existence... Um... alright, but... what does this have to do with learning this jutsu? Everything! In order to be able to use it to its full potential, you must be able to draw this power from the swords, and you must be able to do it freely, without effort, almost instinctively. _________________

Okay, but... do I have the time to learn to do that?Surely, you can't complete that right now, but calling upon temperature manipulation with your chakra will do for now... alright, remember how you did the Transfer technique? Try the same thing now, channel chakra into the blade, and trigger the temperature control power... but this time, draw that augmented chakra back to your hands after that. If you can do that, you can consider this jutsu as good as learned. That doesn't sound too bad... Alright, here goes... However, actually doing the whole process proved to be much harder. The first two attempts at drawing back the chakra resulted in burnt and frostbitten fingers, and Ukyo had to lay off the swords for a while. No, no, no, that's all wrong! Don't use the technique against yourself! You need to draw the chakra back, not release it at yourself! You must concentrate and try again! _________________

Easy for you to say "concentrate"... I can't draw the chakra back from the swords! That's why I said that you would need to feel them as parts of your body before you could perform the technique effectively! But you also said that I can't accomplish that in such a short time, so what do I do? Simple. As you are drawing back the chakra, part of it is wasted, which results in the technique affecting you. Actually, most of the chakra is wasted. You should work on controlling it better, but unless you will unite with the swords, you won't be able to conserve it completely. So, you'll have to use chakra to protect your hands, to block that harmful one you are letting go. Wow... this sure is complicated... trigger temperature manipulation with chakra, draw chakra, block wasted chakra with more chakra... well, I might as well get started... _________________

The sun was already half hidden behind the horizon when Ukyo stopped. All his attempts have failed. Of course, there was some improvement in the technique, but the insignificant amount of chakra that he could actually use and the high amount of wasted energy made the technique more harmful than useful. Alright, I give up, - thought the jounin, sitting down on the ground, - I can't do this. Hey, are you serious? You are just going to give up like this? Of course not. Tell me about that "bond" thing. Alright, but this will take a lot of time... I understand, that's why we're only going to do a small part of it. I'm not sure that it can be divided into parts, but whatever... alright, how do we begin... I guess you can sit down, this is going to be focused around meditation. _________________

Ukyo was sitting on the ground, breathing slowly, his eyes closed. He was relaxed, and at the same time, concentrated and collected. Tsuki's soft voice slowly lead him into a state of trance. Usually, he would consider meditating a waste of time. Old shinobi masters would usually advise meditation, but Ukyo never understood this. It didn't give you any power, and the "spiritual guidance" he did not believe in. If a matter needed considering, he would simply think it over, using faultless logic. Meditation was a waste of time, but this time, it was a necessary waste of time. I guess there really is an exception for every rule. His senses dulled as he slipped deeper within his own mind. Don't lose concentration, don't stop... keep trying to feel yourself differently... It took a bit of time, but Ukyo was finally able to reach the level of concentration where he felt every single muscle in his body, and could practically feel his blood and chakra flows. Wow... pretty amazing... He though he could see two silhouettes in the dark, when his trance was suddenly broken. _________________

The moon was high in the sky, shining brightly in the cloudless night. The jounin opened his eyes, his senses slowly coming back to him. He realized he was lying on the ground, and there was a man standing over him, holding a club. Hm, I guess he is dead then... might as well take his stuff, they look like fine swords... that'll bring in the ryo, hehe... Ukyo's body was stiff, but he already started feeling the pain in his side. He must have hit me with the club to see if I will react, - he thought, absolutely uncaring for his own well-being. They say that breaking one's trance is dangerous for the person, as it might well cause serious mental damage. The ninja couldn't tell that at the moment, but he did feel strange, and uncontrolled rage and bloodlust started filling him. How dared this pathetic human...?! This piece of...
The jounin jumped up on his feet, grabbing the man by his throat and lifting him from the ground. I'm not dead... but I can guarantee your death. Ack...! No... please stop... But Ukyo wasn't about to. He felt chills running down his arm, and soon the man's body started freezing. He would have shouted, but his vocal cords turned to ice before he could.
About half a minute have passed before a dazzled Ukyo put down the ice statue. Looking at it in slight confusion, he realized that he performed the technique he's been trying to learn without thinking, purely on instinct. Yeah, good... just the way it should be. The vampire slightly pushed the statue out of pure interest. It fell backwards and crumbled, spreading frozen red mass of blood, muscles and organs everywhere. Ukyo noticed the man's heart, as it rolled aside and a piece has broken off of it. Wow... - he said, and barely resisted to throw up. Walking away, so that the gory mess was out of sight, he thought to himself: This technique is so... violent. I don't even want to imagine what it could feel like.

Having found another quite place, Ukyo sat down under a tree and took a scroll from his kunai pouch. Even with the moon shining, it was too dark to read, for a human at least. But a vampire would not be held back by the dark. He unrolled the scroll and started reading Rera's neat handwriting. The text contained description of vampires' techniques. She wrote it for him, since he would be unable to learn directly from her. Nor that I would really want to... let's see... this one I already know... this one I will learn later... this one needs a subject to train on... ah, here it is. He ran through the description and training pointers for the technique he wanted to learn before getting up. This is gonna be hard... I never tried using chakra with my wings before... hey, that might be a good idea, use chakra with my wings to increase speed and maneuverability... wait, wait, wait... must stay on topic... alright, so the hand seals are... _________________

Hold on, you haven't even tried channeling chakra into your wings, and you are already going to try and perform the technique? I mean, get real, you could end up seriously traumatizing yourself! Oh, heh... you do have a point. But I am fed up with doing the f***ing chakra control training for today. Like you have a choice. ... Ukyo realized that Tsuki was right. He needed to learn this technique, and practicing chakra control was the only way. S***! I think my whole friggin' life I've been doing nothing but training, and my whole friggin' training was about chakra control... Well, yeah, but you should watch your tongue. It's slightly disturbing to hear the superiorly polite you swear so much. Oh, yeah, sorry... just tired, I guess. Anyway, less talk, more training... _________________

The jounin got up and spread his wings. Somehow it felt really good to let them out into the air. Ukyo waved them around a bit, feeling the immense strength which was hidden within the seemingly fragile limbs. It was not hard to damage the wings' tissue, but it would grow back in a matter of seconds, and the mighty muscles that moved them possessed strength far greater than what the jounin's arms could muster. The pitch black wings reflected the moonlight beautifully... I think I'm gonna throw up... enough self-admiration, get to training! Stop complaining. I don't see you doing anything. Well, that's perfectly ok. We would have a serious problem if you actually did.Sheesh, women... just can't let you get the last word. Well, that is true, though. I should really get this training thing started... _________________
