Clan Description: The Bachiatari clan comes from the far west, where tales of vampires are a common thing. It's true origin is unknown, however, there are two legends that are believed to be more truthful than the others.
One legend tells us of a rich man from the east, who immigrated to the western lands and bought a huge castle there. This mysterious man would often be seen on high-level social events, taking an active role in the business development of many countries, spreading his influence wherever he could by using his intelligence, wealth and blackmail. He was also very popular with the women, and somehow seemed to remain in his thirties as years went by. The fact that nobody knew what was going on in his castle didn't help, as it was a common thing among people of his class to invite each other to their estates, which he never did. This caused some disturbance, since the religion there was very influential and watchful of powerful people. Over time, scary rumors started going around, but while they differ in details, one thing was stated in all of them - this man was not human anymore. Just as the church was about to proclaim that he had signed a deal with the Devil, he mysteriously disappeared, leaving a few descendants. These descendants, however, had the same, almost unnaturally high sex appeal and resistance to aging. While this legend doesn't tell us of the vampires' origin, it states that they were all the descendants of that man.
The other legend is more poetic, and tells us of a human and a demon who fell in love. The original story was lost, and the rewritten versions differ in the aspect whether it was a female human and a male demon, or vice versa. But one thing is certain - this love was doomed to bring nothing but pain and suffering. The peoples of both lovers marked them as outcasts and exiled them. The two exiles had to go to distant lands, where nobody knew who they were. This legend says that vampires are descendants of this couple.
Yet another story, actively propagandized by the western church, tells of two brothers, one of the first humans, Kain and Abel. The two brothers had to work hard to survive. However, Abel put more effort, and was probably more gifted, in everything he did, so he lived a better life. Kain, on the other hand, wasn't a good person, and over time the feeling of greed towards his brother drove him insane. He killed his brother, and ran away when he realized what he had done. Kain was cursed for his awful sin, and it is said that he was the first vampire.
However, all three stories have some truth to them. The vampires originated from the same ancestors as the Ozanaru clan, from those people that chose unity with demons over unity with other humans. Rera, the current leader of vampires, even claims that the first vampire was the child of the first of such couples. Unfortunately, the clan history between that point and the birth of her father was lost. The stories of a rich man refer to Rera's grandfather, a wise and powerful man, who was nobody when he arrived to the western lands and earned himself the title of a count long before his disappearance. However, he left behind two sons: Rera's father, Kain, and his brother, Abel.
The two brothers never got on well. Kain took after his father, increasing the family's wealth, but was very kind and generous. Abel was a dark and greedy person, and was very envious of his brother for no apparent reason. Their relationship was quite complicated, but in the end Rera's father killed his brother in a duel. Though nobody really cared about him at that moment, it was used against Kain later. Unlike his father, he had forgotten about his long life span. He was always helping people, but that didn't stop the church from calling him "demon spawn", hunting him down and killing him in the end.
Rera had to run to the east, where the religion was completely different and nobody knew of her lineage. She settled down in a place called the Land of Waves, and began studying the ways of the people in this and neighboring countries. She repeated the work of her legendary ancestor, and soon became a very rich and powerful person. However, she preferred to stay in the shadows to avoid any possibility of being hunted again. The business she was running for many decades now was disguised as a family business of the Bachiatari family.
Bloodline Description: The Kyuuketsuki Ketsueki can hardly be called a bloodline, since the only true vampire remaining is Rera. However, there is another way of being turned to the bloodline, which is widely described in different vampire stories. One who possessed the bloodline can perform a turning technique, where he has to bite the victim, usually on the neck. The victim remains unconscious for a week, and during this period, the person's body changes, obtaining sharp canines, slightly changed metabolism and such. Only Nosferatu or higher can turn people into vampires.
The process can also be performed on people who already possess another bloodline, but in this case there is a high chance that it will kill them, and even if they survive, their old bloodline will be overridden by the Kyuuketsuki Ketsueki.
Though the stories about vampires are just stories, they have some truth behind them. The vampires do not solely consume people's blood, but it gives them strength if they do. However, the human blood is like a drug for them, and they might become addicted, especially young and weaker vampires, which might cause them to turn into a mindless bloodthirsty being. Also, vampires have an advantage during the night, and are put at a disadvantage when exposed to sunlight. Higher vampires, the Nosferatu, are more resistant to some of their race's weaknesses. Many rumors also claim that vampires are immortal, which is partially true - they don't die of old age, or at least their life span is many times greater than an ordinary human's.
Another thing is that the vampire's blood removes all physical flaws, meaning the part how they look - it alters the metabolism so that a person's figure is changed to almost perfect, they have no skin defects and the skin is always soft and smooth, their hair is silky, their teeth are perfectly shaped and are white, etc. They also never suffer from any diseases.
Vampires also have unnaturally high sex appeal, for reasons beyond understanding, which makes them rather popular among people of the opposite gender. However, even though usually it's a good thing, it can be a double-edged sword, since people of the same gender as the vampire tend to dislike them.
For reasons unknown, vampires can heal much better than an ordinary human, but the person who was treated by a vampire usually experience a strange wish to eat half-cooked meat for a while.
Apart from the physical differences from humans, vampires also have some psychological ones, which are usually referred to as the Three Soul Trials.
The first trial is the Trial of Blood. It represents a vampire's hunger for blood, which grows every time it is well satisfied. Vampires do not physically require human blood to live, so this is considered a trial of will and spirit.
The second trial is the Trial of Darkness. It represents a vampire's struggle with his inner darkness. For some vampires, this struggle may never even begin. However, the darkness inside grows more powerful every time a vampire uses the forbidden power (darkness release). Absolute defeat in this battle would mean that the vampire will die as a person, completely overwhelmed by his dark side.
The third and final trial is the Trial of Love, more often referred to as Recognition. Basically, it is love, but on a whole different level. Unlike love, it cannot be developed by years of contact, though it usually takes several years to manifest, but can be spontaneous as well. Once you've recognized a person, you would realize it, and you would never be able to love another. That means, there is only one person in the whole world you could recognize. Its a lifetime bond that you cannot sever.
The vampires have feared recognition for generations, because it does not give you a choice. A situation where you love one person but then suddenly recognize another is easily possible. It usually takes a lot of time to manifest, but the situation where you only met a person several times and recognized him or her is possible. Because of that, vampires having children was very rare. No vampire dared stay in a relationship for over two years in fear of recognizing someone who might not recognize them back, or will simply die of old age as all humans do.
Bloodline Limits: While vampires appear the same as normal people, they're quite different chemistry-wise. The most famous of their traits - drinking people's blood - is not just for show. While their healing rate is usually the same as an ordinary human's, consumption of human blood boosts it to incredible values and restores their energy. The healing power is based on the amount of blood consumed and the vampire's rank, making the highest of vampires practically invincible in case they have a few sips of blood at hand. Carrying blood around isn't a choice though, as it gets oxygenated or stale quickly, and looses it's healing value. Their ability to heal others is also highly increase.
Vampires also have a bit different muscle tissue, and have higher physical strength than one could assume they do judging by their looks.
A vampire's assault on somebody usually takes place at night in the stories, and it has some truth to it. For reasons beyond our understanding, vampires are stronger, faster and have heightened senses at night. The increase is not much, but sometimes it could be what will decide the outcome of a battle. They also see perfectly clear at night.
While some stories say that vampires are vulnerable during daytime, it is not quite correct. Ordinary daylight doesn't make them feel uncomfortable in any way, however, direct sunlight causes them some disorientation. High vampires are more resistant to sunlight.
Vampires are also quite charismatic and possess unnaturally high sex appeal. They are also highly intelligent, which aids in their skill with genjutsu. Their lifespan is highly increased.
The bloodline has six levels which are directly connected with the person's rank. The levels and ranks required to obtain them are as follows:
Ghoul - genin
Neophyte - exceptional genin/chuunin
Adept - chuunin
High vampire - exceptional chuunin/jounin
Nosferatu - exceptional jounin/sannin
Vampire Queen/King - Only the true heir of the bloodline can become one on his own, but he must be of jounin rank (Nosferatu level) and complete special training (like kinjutsu training). However, a turned vampire of sannin/kage rank (Nosferatu level) can become one through a special ritual performed by the heir of this level (like kinjutsu training).
Higher level vampires have higher benefits from the bloodline and are able to use more of the clan's techniques. A list of bloodline levels and the bonuses obtained:
Ghoul - aren't recommended to drink human blood, low healing effect and low recovery effect; 5% strength increase; 2% night time overall efficiency increase; 20% sunlight overall efficiency decrease; sex appeal not increased; life span increased twice; medical techniques efficiency 10% increased; genjutsu power and resistance 5% increased
Neophyte - can consume low amounts (up to 100 ml) of human blood without side effects, low healing effect and average recovery effect; 8% strength increase; 5% night time overall efficiency increase; 16% sunlight overall efficiency decrease; sex appeal slightly increased; life span increased four times; medical techniques efficiency 20% increased; genjutsu power and resistance 10% increased
Adept - can consume average amounts (up to 200 ml) of human blood without side effects, average healing effect and average recovery effect; 12% strength increase; 8% night time overall efficiency increase; 12% sunlight overall efficiency decrease; sex appeal averagely increased;life span increased seven times; medical techniques efficiency 30% increased; genjutsu power and resistance 15% increased
High vampire - can consume average amounts (up to 300 ml) of human blood without side effects, high healing effect and high recovery effect; 18% strength increase; 11% night time overall efficiency increase; 7% sunlight overall efficiency decrease; sex appeal highly increased; life span increased sixteen times; medical techniques efficiency 40% increased; genjutsu power and resistance 20% increased
Nosferatu - can consume high amounts (up to 500 ml) of human blood without side effects, high healing effect and great recovery effect; 25% strength increase; 15% night time overall efficiency increase; sunlight doesn't affect efficiency; sex appeal extremely increased; life span greatly increased; medical techniques efficiency 50% increased; genjutsu power and resistance 25% increased; has the ability to turn people into vampires (chuunin or lower, the person becomes an adept or lower)
Vampire Queen/King - can consume great amounts (up to 1 liter) of human blood without side effects, great healing and recovery effects; 40% strength increase; 25% night time overall efficiency increase; sunlight doesn't affect efficiency; sex appeal extremely increased; immortal (will never die of age); medical techniques efficiency 70% increased; genjutsu power and resistance 35% increased; has the ability to turn people into vampires (jounin or lower, the person becomes a high vampire or lower)
Name: Bestial Form
Requirements: None
Description: This is what the vampires call it when one of them goes into a bloodlust frenzy. The vampire loses his human features - his skin becomes a shade of gray (from light gray to dark gray, depends on person, like human skin color), his eyes glow red, his teeth grow to about a wolf's size and become very sharp, and his nails turn into claws. While in this form, the person gains a 100% increase to his strength and speed, but becomes absolutely mindless, and will attack friend or foe. Though this state can be induced by drinking excessive amounts of human blood, there are no known ways of canceling it. It will wear off within minutes if the transformed vampire has no possibility to attack and/or drink anybody's blood, but they tend to do just that, thus prolonging the transformation - practically, turning to the Bestial Form would be the end of the vampire as a person if there's nobody to stop his rampage.
Name: Knowledge of the Blood
Requirements: Adept level
Description: This bloodline limit allows a vampire to obtain knowledge of another person by drinking a bit of their blood. Since Ghouls and Neophytes are very vulnerable to the bloodlust, they can't use this technique, but other vampires can. This technique is perfect for vampires who need to obtain information that can't be available by other means. Using their personal and racial traits and/or genjutsu, they can seduce a person of the opposite gender and have a chance to bite them. Obtaining information from people of the same gender will be harder, but a charismatic enough vampire can talk anyone into dropping their guard. Vampires can also share information between themselves by drinking a few sips of each other's blood, but it is rarely used due to the ability to share their thoughts. Also, the knowledge that the vampire obtains is chaotic, and he might have to spend some time sorting it out later. The vampire can't be sure that he got what he needed either, since he can't choose what he wants to learn, and he needs to keep his teeth inside the victim's neck to keep the flow of information. A minimum of 100 ml of the victim's blood is required for the ability to take effect.
Name: Telepathy
Requirements: Adept Level
Description: All vampires of adept level or above have the ability to establish a mental link between each other, thus exchanging opinions without the need for speech. High vampires can also send their thoughts to ordinary people, but they won't be able to get a response. The vampire must have the other person, whether vampire or not, within sight and no further than fifty feet away to use this ability. Nosferatu are able to locate others through this ability, but they need their mental image and they can only know the direction in which to travel. Vampire King/Queen can also know if a certain vampire is alive or not, and feel their general state. It will also allow any vampire to recognize any person he met before by his/her mental image, something that cannot be disguised or changed.
Name: Wings of the Bat
Requirements: High Vampire level
Description: This bloodline limit would make a person's dream of flight come true. The wings appear when one turns to adept level, but at that stage they are too small, and then grow as the vampire grows stronger. The wings' usual position is being folded inside the vampire's back, next to his/her shoulder-blade. The wings are much like a bat's - membranous, but yet rather thick. They are rather easy to damage, but regenerate at a rapid rate. However, a high vampire cannot sustain flight for long, since the muscles that are responsible for the wings' movements are untrained and tire out easily. Nosferatu can fly for much longer and at higher speeds, their wings are a bit tougher, and they heal up even faster if damaged. The Vampire Queen/King can fly for an almost limitless amount of time and at very high speeds, their wings are not as easily damaged and regenerate very fast.

Name: Shapeshift
Type: Ninjutsu
Rank: D
Requirements: Kyuuketsuki Ketsueki
Description: An unique ninjutsu, this technique transforms the user into an animal of choice. Chakra is slowly, but constantly drained while this technique is active. The user gains the traits of the animal he transforms into, but looses the abilities which his human form grants him (practically everything). The vampire can transform back to his normal form at will.
If the user transforms into a cat, it allows him to sneak about, and he gains the cat's perfect eyesight and unmatched intuition. Vampires of any level can transform into a cat, however, higher level vampires do not gain the ability to transform into a giant cat of sorts.
If the user transforms into a bat, it allows him to travel discreetly and at a high speed. Only neophytes or higher can transform into a bat. While neophytes can only transform into a small to average size bat, vampires of a higher level can choose to transform into larger versions in case they need to carry something, up to a gigantic bat that can carry over 500 lbs at Nosferatu level. Of course, the bigger the bat is, the more obvious that it is unnatural. While transformed high vampires obtain tough skin and Nosferatu have hard scales, it is still not advised to use large bat sizes unless absolutely necessary. Can only be used at night. High vampires can use it during daytime if the weather is cloudy. The Vampire Queen/King can use it regardless of the weather and time of day.
If the user transforms into a wolf, it allows him to travel quicker overland while staying more aware of his surroundings. Only adepts or higher can transform into a wolf. Adepts transform into a normal size wolf, high vampires transform into a large wolf. Nosferatu can transform into wolves about two-three times the normal size which have protective hide. The Vampire Queen/King can transform into a giant wolf with hard protective hide that can also cut things.
Name: Hypnotize
Type: Genjutsu
Rank: B
Requirements: Kyuuketsuki Ketsueki - Adept level
Description: In addition to their natural charm, vampires of Adept or higher levels can use hypnosis on their victim for quicker results. This technique requires a direct eye contact to be performed. The hypnosis can differ from controlling the person's actions for a while to making them fall into an unnatural slumber. The genjutsu's power grows with along with the vampire's level. The downfall of this technique is that after it wears off or if the target is able to resist/dispel it, it will surely lead to some serious complications (the person will obviously turn hostile or unfriendly towards the user). This is like taking a shortcut through the steep mountains instead of going around them.

Type: Ninjutsu

Requirements: Kyuuketsuki Ketsueki - High Vampire Level
Description: A vampire who has full-sized wings is able to perform this technique. It can be used either in an offensive or defensive way. If the vampire uses the defensive variation of this jutsu, his wings' surface becomes hard as tempered steel and can be used as a shield. The offensive variation of this technique does the similar to the wings' edges, making them extremely sharp as well, so the vampire can use them to attack. This technique lasts for about a minute. During this period, if the jutsu is used in a defensive way, the vampire can't fly, and if the offensive variation is used it requires more stamina to fly and the speed and maneuverability are halved.
Name: Vampire Pet Summon
Type: Ninjutsu (Summoning technique)
Rank: A (Kinjutsu)
Requirements: Kyuuketsuki Ketsueki - High Vampire Level
Description: This technique is almost exactly like the common Kuchiyose no Jutsu. The only difference is, the one who wants to be able to perform this technique must sign a "Vampire Pet Contract", which allows them to choose from a variety of different summon races, including several unique ones, rather than just one like an ordinary contract.
The choices are:
Skeletons: considerably fast creatures with sharp bone claws. Rather fragile for obvious reasons.
Walking dead: rather slow creatures, who have high physical strength and are quite sturdy.
Gargoyles: fast creatures, made of usually inanimate materials, which are obviously resistant to taijutsu and have the ability to fly. Attacking chakra circulatory system or pressure points also has no effect on them, since they don't have any.
Golems: large, slow and extremely tough and strong creatures, made of usually inanimate materials, which are obviously resistant to taijutsu. Attacking chakra circulatory system or pressure points also has no effect on them, since they don't have any. Basically walking statues.
Undead Dragons: Nosferatu or higher only. Bone Dragons are physically powerful creatures with telepathy. When (and if) the Nosferatu increases his/her power to Vampire Queen/King level, the Bone Dragon evolves into either Blood Dragon or Ghost Dragon. The Blood Dragon has greatly increased physical parameters, while the Ghost Dragon is only slightly stronger physically than the Bone Dragon, but can have more ninjutsu.
Notes: To avoid any confusion, Ghost Dragons are materialistic, it's just that they seem to be made out of transparent white mist. Also, while every other summon can be both a group and a solo type, dragon summons are only solo-types. Group summons consisting of "generic" (undifferentiated) creatures (example: hundreds of small spiders, skeletons and zombies) are supposed to be slaughtered in large numbers, and are restored every time.
