She shrugged her shoulders, and continued with her rehearsed speech. " No, the bloodline was never developed. It was a by-product of half demons, who slowly began losing their lineage. The arm is the last vestige. It might be hard to understand why we keep it... but that's fine."

She laid back, watching the clouds pass. She had heard part of what was needed. She thought there was a possibility he could lead the clan, but at this point, there didn't seem to be a chance.

" Good. I was only going to allow you to have the first seal, anyway. You can not control the demon, and giving it power over your body is a quick way to death. Those swords... When they take you over, you can force them out. You couldn't do that with a demon. You would have to wait until it leaves, or kills you."

She breathed heavily, and lifted herself up. " I was hoping that you would help me, but I see that you can't. I don't mind... You do realize though, that your ideals won't stand forever. You are young. You will change in time. Maturity will hit you. It still hasn't finished with me. I do not doubt that you will use the bloodline, and break through the seal. Possibly not on purpose.

" For example, if you were defending someone who was very important to you, say Lita, then you would fight with all your heart. Say everything you had wasn't good enough. She was going to die. Wouldn't you use what you could to protect her? The demon isn't supposed to be a curse. It should only be used for protection, at least by you.

" One important piece of advice. Never talk with your demon. It will not respond."

Ukyo couldn't think of a response for quite a long time. She is right... and no matter what I say against that, we will both know I'm lying... Yes, I would. But... if I let the demon's powers loose, then I can't be sure if the person I was protecting would be alright afterwards, because of the demon, - he said slowly, thinking upon every single word. What if Syra's random example was to happen sometime? It's no use thinking about what might happen. You'll only become paranoid like that.

Why is it that I shouldn't talk to the demon? Is it dangerous? You wouldn't tell me not to do it if it was just that I would be left ignored... - he paused for a few moments, thinking it over, - but, that doesn't matter, actually. You said you were hoping I would help, but I can't. What do you mean, Syra-san?

Things are getting complicated, aren't they? I was hoping she'd just teach you how to use the bloodline and we could be on our way... but here we are, stuck with yet another philosophical conversation... I'm getting tired of the lack of action. Yeah, you could never sit back and plan your actions throughoutly... and I always loved to plan on ahead. That's what made us a deadly combination... your smarts and planning, my hotheadedness and improvisation... Aren't you getting a little off topic here? Oh, yeah... but, actually, I spoke my words. Right now, we're in a strange situation. You swore allegiance to Konoha when you became a shinobi. Yet you can't just abandon your clan, which is from Kirigakure, especially if you hope to get the bloodline. Which you should, since you really need two arms. I think the best course of action is to follow Syra's instructions, for now.

Our most important knowledge is that of demons, history, and religion. If you really wanted, you could be a part of our clan without ever being a ninja again. If that's what you want, of course.

" Honestly, if you want to get your bloodline soon, we can do it. You can kill some genin-leveled demon, I'll perform the ritual, and in two weeks you should be good for training."

The chuunin chuckled a bit. Of all the things I could be called, "too human" wasn't on the list of what I expected. I thought I only recently have begun turning to really human, you know, with the friends, emotions and having fun... and I'm getting "too human" already. Well, it's not like I'm offended... - he took a deep breath, - I can handle keeping the demon under control. I am sure. And if not... it will not get my body. The blades will see to that.

Nice to see you put your trust into us like that, but I hope this doesn't mean that is what you think will happen? No, I have no intention of dying in the next several dozen years, so don't worry. I am not planning on giving up being a ninja, not yet... You said I could battle a genin-level demon... what does it affect, the demon's initial strength? Also, you didn't answer my question about the help you seemed to want...

There is two things I'll need in this life to give me meaning. I need family, which I have, and something which won't be disclosed. But my family is not strong enough to fight with me. I need someone to help bring the clan up, someone to be at my side.

Bring the clan up... I expected something like this. Especially after you mentioned it wasn't really a ninja clan. Having a lead role in a powerful... at least politically... clan. Sounds good enough? What is it I hear in your voice? Jealousy? Heh, that was one of Tsuki's worst qualities... we had plans about a clan... it never happened though, for some obvious reasons. Oh, I see...

I don't think a genin-level demon is enough then... I am not power-thirsty, but whatever you do, you should do it good... in other words, if I'm going to fight a demon, which will aid me later on, why choose a weak one? I just need to learn a few jutsus and I'm sure I could take on a chuunin-level... as of helping you bring up the clan, well... I'd be glad to help, Syra-san. But I'm in a pretty weird situation, since I'm supposed to be a Konoha shinobi... have any ideas how I could sort out that "diplomatic" problem?

I've got work to do soon. My vacation is almost over. I'll be busy for the next little while. I have jutsu's to train in, political steps to achieve, and alliances to forge. I have a lack of knowledge, and that is needed to survive in the world of political intrigue. Right now, I have no knowledge of what will happen to Otogakure and Sunagakure in the next ten years. I've got a lot to do..."

She began treading along, dipping every once in a while, only to resurface several feet away. She was like a raven haired swan, swimming gracefully along the water's front.

Ukyo shrugged when Syra dove back into the water. I don't even want to know how cold that water is. He followed by feet, walking on the water's surface. I am free to do it anytime. I am actually ready, though I was hoping you could teach me Mizu Bunshin beforehand. And then... I guess I should head back to Konoha, since my mission was completed days ago. Maybe there could be some... developments worth your - and the clan's - attention back in Fire Country. And there's someone I wanted to find right before going back...

Now, to sum things up. Learn Mizu Bunshin - fight demon - obtain bloodline - learn a little bit about the bloodline - find that man - go back to Konoha. Simple as that. Yes, this might be a good idea, I mean being the clan's... ambassador in Fire Country. You know, to increase the Ozanaru influence here and there... but, coming back to matters at hand, can you teach me Mizu Bunshin before I have to fight the demon?

Syra nodded, treading backwards slowly. The frost off the water was chilling her to the bone, the mist drifting upwards. She hummed softly, the water dragging her along.

" Well, it's a fairly easy jutsu, so it shouldn't take long. If I teach you that, you'll have to help train me in my jutsu. It's this new thing I've developed called Frozen Water. It'll stick water and freeze it to any surface. It still has a lot of problems though... Yeah, so after we train in those, we can make our way to Fire Country, then we part. Sounds good?"

She waited a moment for response, and finished, " There's a clearing near Kirigakure. We can train in jutsus there."

Yeah, sounds good, - said Ukyo. Freeze water? I wonder... Something wrong? No, I'm just thinking how that would be possible... We were the only two ninjas capable of controlling temperature, well, the only two in Kiri at least. Then my theory that it wasn't really our bloodline must have been correct. Not a bloodline? Then what is it? Take for example the Nara clan from Konoha. Their shadow controlling jutsus are unique, yet it is not a bloodline. It must have been just a coincidence that this special feat - temperature control - was natural to both me and Tsuki. Interesting... well, that explains why I am able to do it, too... Great, now you're teaming up on me, - finished the female blade in a humorous tone.

Oh, I almost forgot... There is still something that I wanted to do. It shouldn't take long, so... how about we meet at Kirigakure's west gate tomorrow... no, in the morning in, say... two days? Is that okay with you? I'll have enough time to go about my... personal affairs then... What do you have in mind? I want to... investigate into something. Don't tell me it's about... You knew it the moment I decided. Why ask? Well, it's a human thing, I guess... Probably... Or we can go train right now if you wish.
