Gedo looked as the flower he was holding and then smiled softly. "I.... don't mind." He said as he shattered the entire forest around them so that the sun could shine and make the crystals light up like small rainbows all over. He smiled and then put his hand on the floor and made hundreds of ice roses, lilies, sunflowers and the like appear. "You.... can take.... any you like." Gedo said as the sun shone over them. The ice rose hardened to the point where it couldn't melt. Gedo walked over to the edge of the lake and sat down watching the birds fly over them as the sun returned. He smiled as he watched the sparkling garden of crystal ice.

"Wow...so...beautiful." In truth, he was captivated. With the release of the snow and ice, he set a bright shimmering tone to the lush green of the woods surrounding the area, the sun glittering from corner to corner, making an irredescent glow. Gedo knelt to the floor, placing his hand upon the ground. Flowers instantly spread from his fingertips, enveloping everything.

"You.... can take.... any you like."

Masaki smiled at him, his eyes full of appreciation, "Thank you."

As Gedo walked towards the edge of the lake, looking up at the sky and watching as birds flew overhead, Masaki joined him, walking slowly, peeking at him whilst observing the crystal rose.

"As a kid...." Gedo began as he closed his eyes and thought back to his past.

~Daddy, why is that boy so cold and white?~
~He's a demon. Stay away from him or he'll devour your soul!~

A young Gedo looked at the girl and man walking away as he sat in the park alone. He teared a bit and it began to snow around him. He stood up from the bench he was sitting on and walked home. As he did, everyone looked at him and avoided him.

~There's the demon child. I hear he can make it so our crops never grow.~
~Maybe he should be killed!~
~Don't be crazy. Shouten Rin would kill us if she knew we killed one of her kind!~
~He's a kid. No one would miss him.~

He ran past the business district and to his home where his mother was and cried to her.

~People simply don't know you. If they could see the sweet boy you were, they would love you as I do. Remember, Gedo. People are scared of the things they do not understand. Others will marvel at it's beauty. Some will even seek to abuse it. You must remain vigilant.~

Gedo looked up the the ninja before him and then looked to the garden. "Since then.... I couldn't trust people."

There was a long pause. The sound of snow softly touching the ground made everything said hold a melancholy tone. Masaki looked at Gedo's frame, sitting with his arms around his knees, peeking through his hair into the distance. He felt a sigh escape his lips and turned to look at the rose. It was so well thought out, distinictive petals, a thin slender stalk and a single frozen leaf. As he looked at it more, he felt a distinctive chakra signature, almost like the sound a bell makes. Light, gentle and pure. He turned back to Gedo, smiling:

"No, I don't think your quite a demon Gedo. Demons don't...save a 'damsel in distress', even though I just refered myself to a weak little girl." He laughed heartily.

Gedo looked at the ninja and smiled softly. HE then returned his eyes back to the garden before him before he could hear someone yelling out his name. Gedo stood up and sighed. "Sorry." He said as he made an ice wall appear around Masaki and then spoke. "Don't speak for now." He said as he stood there and watched a tall man in ANBU clothing approach him. He looked down defeated and then man looked at the ice garden behind him.

"Out doing this girly shit again?" The man slapped Gedo who stood his ground but made no reaction. "Learn to be a man, Gedo! Stop acting like a fa-"

Gedo's anger began to make the snow fall heavily and then man performed a seal on Gedo to stop him from getting angry.

"Remember who I am. Your father. Start acting like a killing machine you're meant to be." He said as he walked off.

Gedo waved his hand and then Ice wall broke around Masaki.

His heart raced as the boy smiled to him. He felt like he had accomplished such a great feat, just by making him smile.

It didn't last for long, a distant shout attracted their attention, causing Gedo to sigh.

"Sorry." He rose and inclined is head towards Masaki. Instantly a small wall appeared around Masaki, causing him also to rise. Before Masaki could arise prtest, Gedo spoke: "Don't speak for now." There was a deep authoritative tone to this, one that Masaki had not heard in his voice before. From behind the translucent wall, he heard a verbal scuffle. An agressive man shouting words of discouragement from just beyond Gedo's silhoette. He heard a slap, about to leap from his confinement, when the 'bell' was rang. The chakra of Gedo his impossible to ignore. It moved through his entire being, moving to the image that stood before him. For ironies sake, he was frozen. Something had stirred in him, that was for sue, but at that moment Masaki did not know. All he heard after that, was the damning scold:

"Start acting like a killing machine you're meant to be."

And then, his vision failed him, the wall vanishing without a trace, as did Gedo, gentle as a bell, slowly fading. He made a confused sound, affected by the unnerved state of his body, collapsing in the freshly fallen snow. And as his consciousness left him, he could only think of the rose, cool and smooth in his hand.

Gedo looked at Masaki who passed out. He looked at him as he instinctively made the ice rise from the ground and slide him to him. He held Masaki to him and looked into his closed eyes and softly shook him. "Wake up!" He said scared as the his eyes began to water. As it did, the clouds rolled in and it began to snow. He cursed his father for making him encase Masaki in the ice wall and then growled with frustration. "Please, wake up. It's my fault. I swear to never hurt you again." He said as he held the ninja close to him to give him the warmth of his own body as the snow fell softly.

He felt the smile fill his entire body. He knew completely where he was. A shiver, quiet and gentle, ran through him, from the warmth of his new acquaintance and the cool breeze of the surrounding landscape. As he opened his eyes, he could suddenly see the density of the snow swirling about him. He gave Gedo a wry smile before sitting up and shaking the snow from his hair.

"Well, that was embarrasing." He chuckled. What was this feeling? Strength? Confidence? Or maybe...him? He turned to look at Gedo, sitting with his legs laid straight in front of him, "What?"

Gedo looked at the ninja as he woke and his heart settled as he moved to sit in his own position. The Ice ninja said nothing as he sat at the frozen lake and watched as the garden sparkled more. The sun wasn't melting it because it had hardened too much so the view of the garden would last years. He then looked at Masaki, his eyes shining blue and felt something oddly compelling about him. He shook it off and looked forward and then laid back in the snow. He closed his eyes and let small snow flakes kiss his skin as he began to slowly drift to sleep.

Masaki leant back on his arms, looking upward. It was nice just spending time with someone. It was...especially nice to be accepted so easily. Although he had never had the difficulties that others had faced, less dismal brands attached to his name, he still knew of loneliness, of rejection. And this new feeling, the feeling of tender excitement, raw joy, ran through him, almost completely directed at Gedo. He was something Masaki could not place completely and instead of solidified thoughts, all he recieved were complex yet interesting emotions. He chuckled under his breath, taking a peek at Gedo from the corner of his eye.
