Just arriving from the Water Country, Tori Uchiha sat on the rooftop of a newly built home for some person that was needing shelter. The building gave a good view of the market road before him from the most northern part ot the most sourthern part while allowing him to examine the very few stalls that resided their. Many people hadn't even had the chance to make it back into the village, but others were already claiming what belonged to him and unclaimed things that did not belong to them. It seems that people still had to live, so there was no need to attempt such a stop of productive effort to live. The boy's legs just dangled across the face of the building while he waited for something ineteresting to happen. At that moment he finally received a scroll from an anonymous ANBU member. He was releived that he was finally going to get something interesting to do. He laid down on the edge and so taht he could be still seen from below, and he unrolled the scroll before him to block the sun from his sight.

Looking up, Tori began to read. It seemed that his clan leader and new kage had specific orders of the shinobi to act upon. It was so lame to think that he should have to do what was on the paper. Rebuilding things was an absolute no no. It was out of the question to have him building things because he really did not want to do any building. it may have seemed selfish, but that was the way he was feeling. He read on and started completely understanding the remainder of the scroll and he seen that the other options were to do missions and train. More things he really did not want to do. He rolled the scroll back up and closed his eyes. Maybe something else would occur to make him be able to do otherwise, or atleast wait for an interesting mission to cross his mind. Training could not possibly make him any better tomorrow than he is today.

After spending a whole day through a stress induced panic attack and locking myself in my room away from the worry and blood stain destruction outside. I didn't want to see any of the damage done be the attack at all. To see anyone's face that I knew lined up among the other dead found in the burnt wreckage would have been to much for me. So instead I sat along on the floor with my legs pulled tight against my chest and tears running down my cheeks. I went on like that for some time, simply refusing to eat or drink anything, flashes of burning buildings and the distant screams echoing in my ears.

Yet, I had to leave at some point, and that time came all to quickly. Once my father succeeded in breaking down my door and almost throwing me out of the house to get a grip on reality did I venture into what was left of Konoha. I walked furtively up the lonely streets, hearing on a bit of murmur among two people down an alleyway. And a hushed conversation through an open window which closed the moment I walked by it and peered inside to see dark figures hunched together, absorbed by their own words, their concentration broken when an eye fell on me and then grunt escaping on of their mouths. I simply continue onward and gaze down each street, finding each one more saddening then the last.

After a few minutes of silent wandering I heard a flurry of behind me and I snapped around, finding an ANBU now standing in front of me. Their hand came out of their cloak and held out a scroll which, cautiously, I took it and as soon as I did the ANBU disappeared. I opened the the cylinder and read it over, finding it to be an order by the Kage. Either clean up, train or do a mission. Such a broad range of choices I had. I shook my head and put the scroll in my pocket. I turned the corner and peered around the area. It was vacant, except for one person who seemed to be dead on the top of a roof. I slowly tip-toed over to the person, moving quietly as possible and peering up at the figure. A bit of movement startled me and I jumped back. Ok he is not dead I thought. I looked up at the him again and cleared my throat, trying to get his attention. Um... hello there, what are you doing lying on a roof?"

Tori was in deep though upon the rooftop. The sun bathed him on its own without his the bopy's consent, but unfortunately for him he had no say so in the matter. The sun was divine and nobody told the boy to take a nap in the open like his skin was immune to the rays. This was probably pretty dumb of him since heh ad just got back active from being sick and he just laid around in the opening ready for another hasardous illness to fall onto him. He was just forced to have to endure a bronzed tone after his mind snapped out of solitude. The boy then heard a seemingly shy voice approach from beneath him as his eyes popped open from daydreams into a reality. The boy's head turned as he looked down onto the ground to see a beautiful girl standing as he comprehendedh er words and sat up to allow his legs to dangle the side like before.

While he made his way to an upright position, the boy stretched out to loosen muscles and joints while also wiping the sleep outo fh is eyes to awaken completely and not just think that he had seen an angel below him. He looked down and the girl was real so he thought the smart thing that he needed to do was speak, "Well...hello back. I was just up here waiting for something interesting to happen. What are you doing down there?" Tori knew the answer to his question was pretty much obvious, but he wanted to spark a conversation because he was bored. If he allowed the moment to interact pass him by, he was going to feel very bad that he would have to force sleep back onto himself. He just looked on and awaited an answer.

The Boy stirred a bit and then he looked down at me, his eyes sleepy and dark. He sat p slowly and stretched himself out, wiping his eyes after his apparent nap. I smiled as I watched him, finding it funny the way people responded so slowly after waking up. But once he started speaking again I was able to smother my laugh into a quiet giggle. the boy looked maybe a year older then me, and now out of his nap both bored and still a bit tired. I smiled and moved my hair out of my eyes. Thinking about what he said silently to myself." Well either he lives every second on the rooftops and finds ground travel a strange sight. Or he is just being funny, I wonder which one it is. I thought, already knowing the correct answer.

I giggle and then shrug, looking at the boy with a smile. " You're right. What could I possibly be doing down here when i can be up there?" I say jokingly then hop up on the roof with a graceful jump and land next to the boy and sit next him, dangling my feet over the edge. i look at the street below, finding it's lonesome and sulky appearance now changed to a strange and earthen sight from the knew perspective. " The Name is Emily, what's yours?" I hand out my hand, and flash a smile. It felt nice finally going out and meeting new people instead of curled up in my room for a change. I felt stupid now for just trying to turn my back on reality, it wasn't that bad after all.

Tori looked upon the girl and watched as she smiled towards him after a giggle to herself. He didn’t think his words were that funny, but he did realize that this girl was like most other girls, cute and smiley. He had no choice but to laugh a little and smile back. What he did was a manly laugh as he felt like saying what he did was not possible to be called a giggle That just seemed very unmanly. As he thought about the coincidence he laughed on the inside and just kept smiling on the outside as the girl finally responded after a shrug. After her reply she made her move to him. With little effort she shot from the ground to his side with the blink of his eyes.

As the girl sat down beside him, Tori leaned back and placed the palms of both of his hands to the smooth floor of the ceiling as to brace his body. It was now like he was sitting on his butt and his hands as the pressure was evenly divided between the two braces. The girl spoke to him and he replied while looking into the sky, “Emily huh… My name is Tori. It is nice to meet you.” Tori’s eyes wandered momentarily as he then looked down and over to the girl beside him as he spoke again, “So, what brings a girl as pleasant as yourself to such a side of town? I know majority of the village look like this, all rubbley and almost deserted, but it seems like girls usually go where help with the other parts of the helping. Don’t tell me you’re a shinobi?”

Tori expected her to be some pretty little flower girl as she did not look like the type to be a ninja. She looked almost perfect in skin with not a scar present to his natural eyes. The tone of her arms were slim and almost narrow aside from a few creasing that showed that she did do some work. She looked almost made in the image of perfection. He could sense strength, but no strength. Fear, but no fear. The boy sighed as he thought, but it was more of a mental strain than something physically noticeable. He awaited her reply while just looking at her without a stare but a small smile that he hoped was not too creepy fro the moment. It was bad to give off the wrong impression at anytime.

As I sat on the roof, I noticed Tori looking up in the sky, I followed his gaze and saw a white bird flying low over the village. I grinned as I watched it move away behind the buildings and out of sight. I couldn't help but think about my brother Koi, and what he would be doing in a time like this. I knew the best thing i should do was help with repairs, try to treat wounded and all the good things Shinobi or supposed to do. But I really didn't feel like it at the moment. And I felt selfish about it. But really not very many people are working for the village at the moment. Most are just worrying about themselves. Koi wouldn't be doing that, he would be out in the debris and death doing what ever he can. Suddenly his words sprung in to my mind as if he was really sitting on the roof with the two of us. " All know the Way, but few actually walk it Emily. Everyone knows the right thing to do, the difference is those who actually go into action, and those who don't." I smile to myself and then turn to Tori who was speaking.

" Yes, I am a shinobi, though I am only a genin. I am not of much use in a time like this. I simply wanted to get away from all the depression, but it seems the saddened state of the streets is everywhere. what are you doing down here by the way?" I say with a grin, as I poke him playfully in the chest. I had never liked being sad and gloomy, so simply trying to cheer things up is my normal reaction as i talk to people. I look at tori with a smile still on my face waiting for a reply as I look in his eyes. They were a dark black, almost onyx, but despite that they reflect the sun in a way that made them look more friendly then the softest blue. It was impossible to look away no matter what I seemed to try and in the end just seemed a bit lost in the black reflective surface. I blinked after a second, listening to see if tori had said anything.

After Emily spoke, Tori was about to respond to the girl’s question but he found himself forced into a little laughter after she poked him in the chest as a form of a small gesture. He stopped his laugh and immediately responded to not have an awkward moment of silence between them, “Nothing wrong with being a genin. I’m a genin and my confidence is still sky-high. That title only limit you as much as you allow it to. Not our fault the genin exams come around every blue moon.” Tori then sat back up on the roof and continued to speak while looking into the eyes of Emily, “I’m just out here to not be in my house. I got this letter earlier from ANBU about rebuilding things and, or doing missions, but unfortunately I was not up to the task so I was going to try and hide out until I could find something to find my interests. Do you think that as such a bad …”

Tori then caught himself in the middle of his question. This was not the type of discussion a person was to introduce when just meeting a person. It was gloomy and saddening, and that was not something he wanted to experience with Emily. Before she could think of him as a weirdo, Tori spoke again, “Scratch that Emily. I did not realize where that talk was going to lead to until It was almost over. Umm… I guess I am really up here just to enjoy the scenery of the sky without seeing the destruction of damaged rooftops intervening in my view. From my home district it does not look so good because the kage is from there.”

Tori looked into the girl’s eyes and he realized something that he hadn’t noticed before. His want for curiosity even made him move in closer to her while never taking his eyes from her’s. Unlike most people he had the pleasure of meeting, this girl’s eye’s lacked the pupil of black or basic brown, but her eyes were lavender, and maybe even light enough to be white. Could it be that he hadn’t noticed her bloodline before as he noticed everything else about her that did not make him jump to the conclusion? He only knew one set of shinobi that actually carried this girl’s characteristics. He was not going to jump into an abrupt conclusion, but he suspected her to be a Hyuuga, but even with the thought that she could be of a second clan in Konoha she still intrigued him. He looked away from the girl and spoke, “You have the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen. They look like jewels when the sunlight skim them and reflect in that single spot that bare reflections of what you are looking at.”

I was amused to see Tori now trying to work around any awkward subjects when he was talking. Seeming like he didn't want to feel like an idiot in front of me, trying to give a good impression when he talked. I found myself flattered by it more then anything. In all my experiences I had always been the one working to have a good impression on someone and not look like an idiot, it was strange to be in the opposite position. ' He may look well held and confident, but he seems to be a normal guy after all. crap, now I'm nervous.. I think silently while listening to Tori's words.

Once he mentions his home I straighten up, now a bit interested, and I suppress a small gasp when he mentioned the Kage being from there. The same person I had met just recently met," But if Caleb is from the same family as he is. Then that means..." I bite my lip when I realize why his eyes seemed a bit familiar, just like mine, they held secrets, and those secrets where conflicting ones. Uchiha The word goes through my mind with a pang of worry. I look back at Tori, finding his dark, black eyes locked on my own pale, white ones. Night and day by comparison. He seemed to lean in a bit closer as he spoke, complimenting my eyes in a way that made me blush and look away.

" Your eyes seem to draw me in as well, solid reflective pools that seem to collect all emotion in. Beautiful, but..." I force myself to look away, fixing my gaze back on the sky, watching the ocean of blue above me. It was strange that she had somehow managed to find two Uchiha in the last week, two boys of the clan rival to her own. The odds were very slim, yet it happened. "... But I am sure people know you best while the black sheen changes to a infamous crimson yes? Strange isn't it, how only the smallest bit of a person is what is remembered most, no matter how short a time that part may show."

As Tori stared into the eyes of Emily, he continued to look for answers, but they told of nothing other than mystery. He could not understand how something or someone could be right before his eyes, but yet have so much hidden that he could barely think that he knew anything about this girl. Her name was just the scratch of the surface of what was Emily. The girl looked away from him and he looked away from him and he looked down in deep thought as his sight slowly eased away from the girl and onto the ground looking at the reverse of what she was seeing. She looked upon the high, happy blue skies that seemed to solve all problems when he looked upon it. Tori, on the other hand, looked at a low, dull brown floor that made him even more stomped.

Tori’s smile slowly crept from his face as he listened to the words from the girl’s mouth. He was not sad or feeling any other emotion other than happiness, but it was not written on his face as plainly as before, but when he would speak it would be heard. Tori scratched the front of his head where his hair began to sprout from his scalp, and then followed it by running the same hand through his hair while combing some locks through his fingers all the way back to his neck as he too looked into the sky and prepared to speak.

A single word crept from the boy’s mouth, “Funny…” Tori smirked and looked towards Emily’s hand as he rested his hand upon hers and spoke some more, “Is it not?” He stopped speaking momentarily for a response, but he hoped that Emily would not respond because he was speaking rhetorical. He then finished immediately before she could give it a second thought, “So many other things define us and yet we are chiefly known by those little things. Sure it may be unavoidable when we are really standing for something that we believe in, but do we not do so many other things that could make us be remembered? Those infamous names are listed immediately after we gain these headbands, and then we are marked. Honestly…I got to admit that I just love that fame. People can say that Uchiha are so lame and fake or whatever just because of our bloodline, but the real problem that they fail to realize is that they are their biggest weakness. Emily I know we are from separate and rival clans, but let‘s not hold onto those family names. Let‘s just be Emily and Tori.”

I smiled as Tori looked at me for a second, a small grin curling on his lips showing the emotion that his face tried to hide. He ran a hand through his hair and my eyes followed the movement, watching his hand slide along his neck, brushing against his skin. I look at my own, it was softer, smoother, more like that of a citizen then a shinobi. I hadn't done much to exert myself lately, i haven't been working for anything. Which was a bad thing. As a Shinobi i was supposed to be training, on a mission, working hard to bring the village to all its glory. That is what Koi would have been doing at least.

I felt warmth suddenly fall over my hand that was resting close to tori. I froze for a second and then my eyes slowly fell on to the direction of the sensation. Tori's hand was now resting on my own, his skin warming mine as they touched. I didn't move at all once I realized this, too shocked to really do anything. It really wasn't something I had been expecting and was a big surprise. I took in a breath as Tori spoke, listening to the words as i still watched our hands, immobile. when he finally finished I simply nodded, and slipped my hand out from under his as I stood up, a smile on my face.

" You're right... I get tired of being known simply because of the family I was born into. The village looks at my eyes and instantly creates a vision of me that is nothing like my real self. I want to be me, not what they think I am. I want to create my own destiny and create my own path. Even within my clan I am seen with the same thoughts simply because of how I was born. I need to be strong, I need to protect the family honor. But I am tired of that. I am not just a Hyuuga, I am Emily. Just like you said." I say as I look over the rooftops of the village, My arms spread wide as I lookout towards the Hyuuga house. Where I know my father to be at during this moment. I think of his face if he heard what I said and I smile. I picture Koi behind me, knowing that he felt the same way, he didn't like being held by destiny, he made his own, and so will I.
