Karen sat alone on the the window sill of her room, looking out over the village from her personal vantage point. She could see the little happenings of the citizens far below her, almost like watching ants moving about an ant hill. Each little black insect moving this way and that, going about their own business and caring not in the least about anyone else. Though this was normal human behavior, Karen found it fascinating. She thought differently then most people, mainly because she wasn't human. Of course having a tail, small wings, and cat ears would be a dead giveaway, most would never know. Karen always liked blending in, and that meant not showing her, distinguishing characteristics.

She sighed, taking in the busy movement of the people below her like the peak of a long mystery movie before the reveal of the master villain. She laughed as she watched two people fight over prices in front of a market stall. And another fumble around for keys while holding bags. With a tail such things were easy to her, and she didn't know how humans got around without them. As she let her fit of giggles die down she leaned back against the window again. then looked up into the sky. Watching the clouds, the few in the sky, move slowly by.

Its funny how people forget the small things in life, and never find the humor in the hard troubling moments before them. Humans, so interesting,so rude, so kind, so cruel, so loving. You never know what to expect." Karen thought about all the people she had met in the village, setting them apart from others and where they stand as personalities. when she got to the Kage, Ballian. She stopped. Not knowing what to do.

Even though she only met him twice, he seemed different from anyone she ever met. He was oblivious, yet very knowledgeable. Easygoing and humorous, yet stern. Rugged though handsome and stunning. No key setting could be put on him, and Karen liked that. She remembered the warm embrace they shared in front of his office window and couldn't help but miss it dearly.

A cry broke out above her, and Karen looked up to find a message bird flying in the air. and to her amazement it landed in front of her. She hoped down on the roof and took the scroll attached to its leg. She opened up to find a mission request made out to her. She read it over and smiled when she read it to be an escort of Ballian to meet someone. Karen jumped back into her room and picked up her pack without a moments though. she stuffed in bottles of water and extra clothes. Adding a few spare weapons afterward. She left the mission request on her desk, in case her parents wondered where she went if they stopped by her apartment. then hoped out her window and off the roof. She fell a great distance, landing on the building next to her silently, bracing her hand against the floor as an extra support. Then straightening up, she took off toward the gate to the desert.

Her head swirled with questions as she moved to her destination. She didn't know why the kage would want her as an escort, most all her being a genin. A Jounin seemed more practical. But karen shrugged off the idea, being happy to see him again. She rushed through the village gates and started out into the cast sands before her. Within minutes she spotted figure in the desert. As she approached she noticed one of them to be Ballain. But two others were with him. Her heart sank a bit when she saw this. of course she wouldn't be the only one to escort the Kage. He would have others too. Karen walked up to the three of them and stopped a few feet from the kage.

' It is especially wonderful to see you again kag-, oh. I mean Ballian. ' Karen quickly corrected herself as she remembered a comment he made about hating the fact everyone called him kage. and wanting to please him as much as possible she made a serious mental note not t do so. ' I am surprised you would ask me for such a mission as this, I mean, I might not be much help.' Karen smiled at Ballian, flashing her pointed white teeth. Her eyes fell on the two others and fell slightly. She quickly regained her composure and smiled again. Sorry, i forgot about the two of your for a second. I am Karen, what are your names?'

Ahira frowned. The nerve of these guys, laughing at her expense. She'd show them just what it was they were laughing it, or thought they were laughing at. The bronze skinned shinobi had half a mind to clobber the lot of them, even if it did end up getting her killed.

Lousy bastards... she thought irritably while rubbing her shoulder with no real purpose other than to have her hands doing something. It's like they're mocking me!

Suddenly, her ears picked up the sound of sand shuffling just behind her and Ahira went into a defensive stance. Who was the new person? What were with all these people showing up like this? Sure, it was the desert, but damn, couldn't Ahira just get some peace to herself? Was it so much to ask? Hell, she didn't think it was.

The girl had cat ears and a tail and at this, Ahira tilted her head a bit. Well that certainly wasn't something you saw on a day to day basis. Quite intriguing this was. But Instead of commenting on it right away, Ahira let her golden eyes remain watchful while her body was tensed - poised and ready to attack should this female do anything stupid.

Perhaps talking should have been counted in this affair. "It is especially wonderful to see you again kag-, oh. I mean Ballian." The girl corrected herself and Ahira had to wonder why? Was it because they were on such familiar standings with each other that she could just calle the Kazekage by his name? Or was it because he, himself, didn't like being referred to such a title? Well, he certainly hadn't made any objections toward her mentioning such a thing. Ahira mentally shrugged as the girl continued. "I am surprised you would ask me for such a mission as this, I mean, I might not be much help."

Ahira bit back a snort. What was this? Some girl approaching the Kage because apparently she'd gotten word of the mission? Maybe she was a spy? After all, he had just mentioned an escort mission and she sure as heck didn't see any other bird flying around this place save for Avian. However, again, instead of speaking, Ahira kept her mouth shut and she folded her arms across her chest slowly.

Ahira watched the girl smile, her pointy fangs showing, but when her eyes fell on both Ahira and Avian, the expression fell slightly. This made Ahira's frown deepen. However, the girl's next words were just about the push needed to set Ahira off. "Sorry, I forgot about the two of your for a second. I am Karen, what are your names?"

The dark skinned shinobi spit, the moisture splatting onto the ground before drying up and disappearing altogether due to the heat. "You forgot about us?" she said evenly, keeping her voice steady and controlled. Her golden eyes narrowed further. "That's not a great attitude for someone who expects to work on a team. Protecting those we escort is important, but not if we don't watch out for each other." Why was she allowing herself to get mixed up in this mess? Ahira sighed. "I'm Ahira." She looked back at the Kazekage, her brows furrowing a bit. "So, is it just us three then? Who's leading the team?"

As Akio listened to the other guys start talking about random things, Akio was just about to start going, talk to Ahira while he could, but of course a third member found them. He sighed as she talked about receiving a message about joining the team. How could she have gotten a message if they just decided it. He turned to Ballian and raised an eyebrow after Karen finished talking. He also thought it funny how she thought she had forgotten them already and then introduced herself. After Ahira explained how that was bad and introduced herself, asking who the leader was, Akio stood there.

Avian He would say as he stared at the girl. He had never seen a half human - half.... animal. He wondered if she was possibly of his clan and that was a rare ability or special jutsu. He decided to toss the thought away though, for now. Trying to talk to one of the Henshin girl was hard enough itself.

OCC: This post is gonna suck.

IC:The kazekage and his friend stood there once standing up to greet Karen from her walk from back in the village, he sighed when Karen almost said 'kazekage' then she said Ballian and he smiled with a big smile on his face. "Alright, lets go..." Nero and along side of Ballian they both walked in the direction of Kumogakure's country borderline to gain access to the lightning country's entrance and to discuss reasoning with the Raikage about why he saved Nero and much more than that. Ballian sighed when walking looking behind Nero and himself to yell at the same time to the shinobi. "You do realize there should be one in front of us and two behind us maybe, not all three of you, not much protection up here, you know?" He said with a smirk to Nero when walking a bit faster.

The reaction of the girl was not what Karen had suspected. In fact it was the complete opposite. She spat on the ground and began yelling at Karen. "You forgot about us? That's not a great attitude for someone who expects to work on a team. Protecting those we escort is important, but not if we don't watch out for each other. I'm Ahira." Karen simply kept her smile as Ahira spoke. She didn't react in anyway, silently taking the high road and behaving as a shinobi should, even headed. Karen stayed smiling nodding her head when Ahira finished.' Well then Ahira, it is a pleasure to meet you."

"Avian" Karen looked as the boy seemed to be saying his name. Karen thought it strange that someone be named after a bird. Though she assumed it was not really her business to decide what a traditional name is. Karen nodded and flashed him a smile. the boy seemed to be watching her carefully, a normal reaction when someone first sees Karen. She thought that it would probably had been best to hide her ears and tail when she came up. Though it was to late now and she sighed. "Alright, lets go..." Karen whipped around and found Ballian and Nero already walking away through the desert. Apparently heading to the Lightning country. "You do realize there should be one in front of us and two behind us maybe, not all three of you, not much protection up here, you know?" When this was said Karen immediately ran forward to catch up the two of them. Karen first started to head in front of Ballian and Nero, though after a second of thought decided it was not best, seeing as Karen had never traveled to the Lightning country before. And being in front would then be an idiotic choice. Instead Karen to place right behind the two of them. Staying close she kept pace. Karen had never traveled outside the Sand country since she had moved there, and she felt excitement starting to build up inside her. Um Ballian, how long of a travel do we have? I have never been anywhere besides Sand and Fire remember. Will we get to see some other shinobi. I-" Karen cut herself off. She shook her head and bit her lip. Through all the excitement Karen had forgotten that they were on a mission. Such questions were distractions. She had to stay focused. acting like a child would only cause problems for the group. Karen looked ahead, watching for and figures in the desert. All the while trying to keep herself in check.

OOC: Please read the post in depth, people. Ahira was not yelling, as you would see in the post. Taking it out of context like that changes the post and its meaning entirely.

IC:

"Well then Ahira, it is a pleasure to meet you."

Ahira mentally rolled her eyes and turned to face Ballian as they addressed them. She saw the smile forming on his face and for some unexplained reason, it made her angry. He even ignored her question. What the hell was going on?

"Alright, lets go..." She watched curiously as the girl, Karen, ran to go meet up with Ballian and Nero. However, Ahira stayed put and stood beside Avian. She didn't trust this mission at all. "You do realize there should be one in front of us and two behind us maybe, not all three of you, not much protection up here, you know?"

She ignored the Kage's yelling, for now. "Avian, I don't trust any of this. Watch that girl," Ahira whispered to him, feeling connected with the fellow Henshin of her bloodline. She was wary of him, but not nearly as much as the Karen girl or this escort mission. Ahira watched as Karen debated on going in front but hung back in the back. Perfect. "I'm counting on you."

And with that said, she jumped into the sky, did a front flip and landed swiftly in front of Nero and Ballian - continuing her walking pace. Her black hair flew in different directions as the wind blew up against them. So, they would be heading to Lightning Country? She'd heard of the place, but had never been there before. Though Ahira questioned the rationale behind this mission and what its purpose entailed, she couldn't stop the budding excitement from welling up in her heart. She would be leaving Sunagakure for the first time since she'd arrived on its sandy lands.

While the girl continued to ask questions, Ahira remained silent up front. If something were to come at them head on, it was up to her to protect the Kage and his companion. The three of them, Karen, Avian, and herself, were now a team. Bitter feelings and disagreements could be left alone. This mission was first and her only priority. What happened after this mattered not to her. As far as Ahira was concerned, she was more than happy to go back to her life as a loner. The dark skinned girl just wanted to get stronger.

Whether or not the girl heard what he said, Akio didn't know as she made no recognition of it. Instead the kazekage started going and said there should be one in the front and two in the back. Akio smiled as Karen went up to go be in the front, but then sighed as she stopped still behind them. As Ahira whispered in his ear he smiled as he nodded. It seemed she trusted him, if only a little more than Karen. Any was good with him though, and then she rushed to the front and he was alone, again.

He decided he'd be best if he was able to hear and see whatever needed, if anything from this neverending desert was stil alive. So as Karen wasn't looking, he decided to turn into a small domestic cat. A Siyamese cat to be exact, as he walked along about the same speed as he had been walking he looked forward and to the sides, and kept his ears open. If anything made a sound, he'd catch it. If a mouse made a step, he'd hear it.

OOC: posting out of order since the topic is being made for a new one. I need one more post to learn my jutsu.

IC:

Ahira continued to walk silently in front of her. She made a mental note that Avian suddenly transformed, she could feel it like others couldn't. There was no denying the bloodline link they shared. When time permitted it, she would have to sit and talk with him and discover things about their clan that she had no idea about.

She opened up her hands, palms facing upward, and saw the fire erupting in them. She closed her hands into fists and smirked as the blazing red tongues of fire licked all over her hands. She opened her palms once more and the fire disappeared. A smirk formed on Ahira's face.

She would get stronger.
