This time, Tetsaku understood that there was need for a different approach. Simply focusing chakra on the puppet is of no use. He held out his fingers, and let chakra flow freely through them towards the puppet. He closed is eyes and visualized strings to make the process a bit easier. Visualization has quite the uses, he learned. Success becomes far easier if you have a burning imagine in your mind of what to accomplish.

He pulled back the smallest finger of his right hand, and the puppets right leg moved several inches. He did the same with the smallest finger of his left hand. This time, the left leg of the puppet moved. Nodding slowly, he took several steps back from the puppet and moved both his right and left index finger. The arms of the puppet shook for several moments before coming to a standstill.

Tetsaku quickly jerked back both hands, and the puppet leaped to a standing position but fell immediately. He was too far away from the puppet, Tetsaku thought and approached it by taking several steps. Again he jerked back his hands and the puppet stood.

Tetsaku succeeded in moving the puppets arms and bringing it to a standing position. Now he moved to the more difficult part. Moving the puppet . Tetsaku jerked back his hands and the puppet stood. He pulled his hands towards him, and the puppet took three steps before it fell. He sighed and sat with folded legs. "What am I doing wrong? It stands, but it cannot move far. A stronger connection to the puppet, perhaps."

Tetsaku rubed together his hands and held them towards the puppet once more. Once again he visualized strings of chakra reaching from his fingers to the puppets. He remained there in the visualization before jerking back on his hands to bring the puppet to a standing position. He then pulled his hands towards him, and the puppet took step after step without falling. He could control the puppet to an extend now, but so much movement is required. Now he was prepared to move to the next step. Moving the puppet, but this time, without the flamboyant hand motions, but rather quick, precise, flicking of his fingers and wrist.

For more than an hour Tetsaku stood in the desert in the shadow of the rock controlling the puppet. In the hour, he was not very successful in finding a more effective way to move the puppet. He fell onto his back in frustration and pondered on the problems. "The puppet moves, but it takes quite the effort to move it. That is unpractical in combat. The movements of my hands could easily give away my next move."

He held his hands towards the puppet, sending the chakra through his fingertips. This time, he did not stop immediately, but remained in this position for more than a minute. He flicked his wrists and the puppet stood. This was more effective than pulling back his hands. He gave a quick tug with the smallest finger of the left hand and the puppets left leg moved. He did the same with his other fingers, and now could move the limbs of the puppet with ease.

Tetsaku could now move the puppet, and control every aspect of it except the weapons. There were four weapons to control.

The folded blade. It is attached to the right arm, so movement of the smallest right finger would be required. He folded the finger and the blade extended out of the puppets arm. He swung his right hand, but the blade moved clumsily and slowly. A directed strike would be very difficult to use with such movement.. "Hrm, my right finger. The blade is connected to the right arm, so only my finger should control it. Yes, that is it." He swung the smallest finger of his right hand down and left, and the blade followed the motion of his finger.

The spike. It is in the Odoriko's right palm. Tetsaku thrust out his right hand, but the spike did not extend, nor did the hand move in any way. He folded the fingers of his right hand, and the spike extended. With his fingers still folded, he thrust out his palm, and the puppet followed the motion. He thrusted in several directions, and smiled in satisfaction as the puppet followed his every move.

Understanding how the spike worked made it a bit easier to use the chain. He folded his left hand in the same way he folded the right when using the spike. The sound of metal rubbing against wood could be heard until the chain hung freely from the puppets left hand. He swung his arm left and right, the chain of the puppet following the motion.

He then folded both of his hands, and the puppet opened its mouth. He squeezed his fingers into the palm, and the puppet fired a single senbon. Tetsaku, this time, squeezed harder, and the puppet fired three senbon. The amount of senbon fired appears to be directly related to the pressure he applied to his palm with his fingers.

Tetsaku succeeded in controlling the puppet. Now, perhaps, is the time for him to search for a confrontation where he can test his newfound skills.
