[1/9]

'I wonder if this is far enough...yeah, far enough.'

The usually mountainous area was a bit more level here, and even a few trees and bushes grew, thus helping to provide some cover. While unsure if she should be learning this, Cielle told herself that she would be learning this. After all, these had been hard to come by, and only in thanks to that one nurse sneaking them for her, would she be able to begin practicing and learning these techniques. Hot damn it was hard finding decent medical jutsu that even she could learn. Might be awhile before she could learn some of the fancier things...which might mean she'd create her own down the road.

First things first: learning the three medical techniques she'd acquired.

Three to choose from and she wasn't quite sure which one was which, so she picked one at random and cracked the scroll open. 'Chakra Scalpel, eh? Looks...fun...' she thought, reading all she could on it. One of the few that could be used offensively? Well that created some ideas, but those had to be shoved off. For now, she had to figure out how to cut, without cutting. Casting a glance around, she made some attempt at keeping active awareness despite growing excitement, deciding to put the other two away into the pack she'd brought, but kept the current one of interest laid out in her lap.

'Judging from the looks of it, I'll be learning how to harm with this first before learning how to save with it.' A little less appealing, but if she could learn to wield it first, then she could concentrate on learning to use it precisely.

Spoiler:

Learning
Name: Chakra no Mesu - Chakra Scalpel
Type: Ijutsu
Rank: C/A
Requirements: None
Description: Chakra scalpel is one of the few offensive techniques used by medical ninja. It concentrates chakra to the palm in order to cut. However, it's initial use was purely surgical, as it allowed one to perform difficult operations with much greater precision and less risk by cutting with chakra. It can easily work through skin, without applying any external damage. Of course, in a fight, such refined chakra control is rarely an option, so it is used as a blade weapon would be
(Rank C, naturally)

With the thuds of a heavy kick, and the rolling of a melodious piano, feet fell down upon patches of grass.  It seemed that the land was getting far less rocky in this area.  Beneath a grey, hooded sweatshirt, drowned a young man, far too small for the thing.  Were he to remove the hood, his ears would be covered by a pair of headphones, which let a few notes bleed through, of a rather serene song.  Below it, was a pair of bunched up pants, also a few sizes larger than the figure should have been wearing.  He'd gone for a hike, having escaped the village using the usual method.  It was a damned miracle that tree was still standing.  Normally, the coast would have been his spot of choice, but seeing as he'd been caught there three times in the past two weeks, he figured the spot was still a little hot.  Besides, there was nothing wrong with a little change in scenery.  And this time of year, the mountains were supposed to be a breathtaking sight.

Unheard through the foam padding, and blasting beat, his foot came down on a large twig, snapping it in half.  For the first time, his gaze left the scrolling ground that lay about three feet ahead of his stride.  Slowly, his eyes bounced about the surroundings.  This area was rather heavily inhabited, compared to what he'd seen thus far.  There was more than just a few patches of jagged grass here and there.  All things considered, it wasn't a bad place to sit down for a rest.  Pushing past a bit of high foliage, he suddenly realized that he wasn't alone in this oasis of plant life.

There was a girl in the middle of the green, seemingly teaching herself something.  Fortunately, her back was turned to him, so he would have time to hide.  And hide he did, vanishing, leaving a small cyclone of fallen leaves in his wake.  Exiting the Body Flicker, he was standing in the higher reaches of one of the few trees in the oasis.  He claimed his branch, and sat down, studying the situation for a moment.  She wasn't much younger than he was, so perhaps she graduated the academy at the same time he did.  But then, why didn't he recognize her?  Perhaps she was from another village.  With a snort, he decided to stop caring.  As far as he knew, he'd eluded being spotted.  Now, it was time for that rest.

Leaning his back against the trunk, and hanging a leg over the edge, he dug a small book out of his pocket, and flipped a few pages in.  It was a non-fiction, or reference, of sorts, detailing the history of the apparently lost Fuuma clan.  It was said that they could use Chakra threads for something other than controlling puppets.  That very detail was the one that persuaded him to buy the book, having been one of the few things let on by the summary on the back cover.  If he could learn their secret by reading between the lines of this book, he might be able to harness this ability for himself.  Unfortunately, reading boring history stories wasn't exactly his thing, so he could only handle the book in small doses.  A half hour break, he decided, before he trekked further into the mountains.  Until then, he would drown the world away, music in his ears and an unsolved mystery before his eyes.

[2/9]

A twig snapped and Cielle's head snapped to stare behind her, light, pale locks swishing and disturbing a nearby bush no thanks to her long ponytail. One of her pigtails inhibited her vision, and shoving it aside, whatever had been there had already moved seeing as the leaves where nearly to the ground, some settled already. Paranoia welled up until she squashed it down, the only good it would do being for a possible enemy in breaking her concentration. And just when she'd need it...or did she?

Quickly glancing over the scroll again, the most concentration needed was for surgery in this technique, and in battle the precision was less necessary and more blade-like. Ugh...the idea though of fighting, especially in the throes of trying to learn medical jutsu seemed...not only contradictory, but rather unpleasant. 'They wouldn't kill a medic-nin in training, right? Not even a threat...but then again you take out the healers all the better right? Damn...' not a very convincing moment for her, and she took another quick glance over the scroll to try to make sense of the basics of this jutsu again. And try to recall the appropriate hand signs at the same time. No need to further doom thyself, right?

Did she call out though? Ninja instincts said 'no' in case it was an enemy, but as her headband was around her neck, if they were behind her then likely they hadn't seen it...so they could be friendly. Black eyes scanned about, but still couldn't make heads or tails of where the person might have disappeared to. Nonchalantly, as though mildly frustrated, she kicked her pack into a bush, trying to make it look like she was just kicking the bush instead, while rolling up the scroll and shoving it into another bush as well. Not like it was entirely special anyhow, and free hands were better.

Taking a moment she listened and heard many things: leaves scraping, distance sounds of water, grass being stepped on by tiny creatures nearby...and...bits of music? 'Wow...must be loud...can only imagine their hearing,' she thought as she listened. Then another realization hit: not only was this person not going for stealth, she'd have a heck of a time just trying to get their attention to come out. Great gods...did she go ahead and try to call them out then? Perhaps she could continue...uninterrupted, and retrieved the scroll from the bush, choosing to sit up against a tree this time and began to practice forming the hand signs in the proper order, style, and moving from slow to quick as she began getting the set into memory more and more. Things were now just a bit unnerving knowing someone else was nearby...listening to loud music. Worse came to worse, she could smoke up the area quite well and make a run for it.

The Fuuma clan...  This wasn't working.  The girl on the ground below was too skittish.  Something had gobbled up her attention, and she hadn't stopped moving since.  What was it?  Was there a deer nearby?  Were there hostile forces in the area?  Maybe she'd heard him before.  Well, that was actually quite plausible.  Still, she obviously didn't know where he was.  Now, if only she would go back to her business, so he could go back to his.  Glancing at her, he finally got to see her face, and the insignia around her neck.  So, she was another Kumo resident.  No doubt, she ducked under village surveillance to be out here today.  That just meant that when the Jounins came after him, they'd find her instead.  It was a good decoy.

Right, then.  Back to not caring.  His eyes locking back onto the ink filled pages, he made sure to hold the book in such a position that it would block any view to the girl below.  The song started over, having been put on loop, as it seemed to help concentration when listening to the same thing over again.  New sounds had a habit of being distractions.  But, it seemed, all the concentration in the world couldn't help him find interest in this clan's biography.  It was just an elegant list of births and deaths to him.  Where was all the action?  When did they learn how to use Chakra threads?  How?  That was the only thing he wanted to learn from this book.

But, that would have to wait.  Having read only two pages, he placed a leaf-made-bookmark inside, and snapped it closed.  His mind just couldn't take anymore of the numbing boredom.  They should make all history texts into comic books.  At least people would read them, then.  With a sigh, his brown eyes fixed on the girl again.  She seemed...  Disturbed.  Still?  Had his presence really upset her that much?  Perhaps he should go down and introduce himself...  Later.  He would say his hellos after a while.  Right now, she was likely to shove a blade into his throat at the slightest sound.  So, he would wait for her edge to dull a bit, for his own, personal safety.  For the moment, he folded his hands behind his head, letting the book sit, closed, on his lap as he looked up, through leaves and branches, at the blue sky above.

A soft swish noise could be heard, as Mei moved closer to where Hideo had perched himself to read his book. As if Mei was a dark cloud covered green shadow she descended swiftly, and landed upon the other side of the tree, and folded her wings up. Now what could Hideo be up too? Since the last time he snuck out of the village he saw that one girl at the beach, and this time it looks like he is looking at another one, and most likely reading porn. Mei giggled inwardly when she thought this, for not only was the thought of him being a secret pervert made her laugh, but also the thought that this is what he snuck out to do in the first place.

With a little kid look of curiosity on her face Mei peeked around the corner to look down at the girl below who seemed to be busy with both training, and finding out where Hideo was at the same time. Seriously she seemed almost paranoid of who was watching her, and although Mei didn’t understand it at first slowly her minds gears cracked out an idea. Hehehehe I think I just got a funny idea in my head, but I am not sure that Hideo will be pleased with it, oh well not that, that matters in any case since it will be funny.

As though she had the mission impossible theme song playing, Mei made her way around the tree stealthily until she was within reach of Hideo’s headphones, and with a shadow over her face, and a glint in her eyes Mei made a grabbed for his headphones. With one swift motion Mei took the headphones off in a blur of dark green she whipped around in front of him on his lap, still with the same glint in her eyes. Hi Hideo~! She yelled loud enough for the other girl below to hear clearly. What are you doing up in a tree all by yourself looking at a girl? You’re not becoming a perverted stalker are you? She said giving his nose a playful flick upon it. Of course if you wanted to be my stalker then I wouldn’t mind it~ But first…. with a gust her wings unfolded, and pushed back up against the tree as to get airborne again, and shortly after doing this Mei dive-bombed onto the ground breaking at just the right time to flip right side up near the Girl who was practicing below. Hi there so what are you doing out in the middle of nowhere? I suppose it’s training right? she said with a cheerful smile lighting up her pale face. But I would be careful, there are stalkers on the loose in these woods. Mei stated giving a slightly playful glance up at Hideo, before fully facing the other ninja now in front of her, as if to listen to what her response would be.

[3/9]

Things were going all right, and the person had yet to jump her. Perhaps...they were also just trying to get away? Why else listen to loud, loud music? Relaxing her shoulders, she began channeling chakra into her hands as she went through the seals, the scroll laying out in her lap. Under her bangs the stigmata formed, hidden by her bangs. Medical jutsu was all about chakra control, so she decided to practice summoning it to her hands before she'd attempt making the blades. That was...until someone called out loudly "Hi Hideo" from her left and thus caused her to jump and lose all concentration, and the stigmata disappeared.

An eye twitched, disturbed even more, as she heard the voice continue talking about watching from a tree, stalker, and perverseness. Cielle massaged her ears in some attempt at relaxing, as well as trying to ignore them. Since there wasn't some immediate attack, perhaps she could try to do as the music-one and ignore the area's distractions. Another shot plan as a girl flipped in front of her and caused her to jump, yet again. Blasted nerves, at this rate it might have been better to try and train at the hospital, though she hadn't been sure about asking for apprenticeship at the time since they all always seemed rather busy...

...She was regretting it now.

"Err...yeah, training..." though Cielle's expression dulled at the mention of 'stalkers,' doubting that whoever she was talking about was actually such. Right? Well, that's what she'd believe. One didn't listen to loud music if they were hiding and staring, as that was loud enough she could hear it in tune with nature. This was probably a joke...and the girl didn't seem so bad, interesting, but not bad, so she returned the smile, "So what brings you out here then? Following a friend?" Hm...perhaps the girl was the stalker? Black eyes locked onto the wings, now intrigued...could she really and truly fly? No, no, she was supposed to be learning the Chakra Scalpel! Not pondering over humanoid flight! But...so interesting, and cool looking to boot! Cielle had always wanted a tail personally...and again she had to refocus herself, the entire time smiling up at the girl with no change beyond some added glints in her eyes from the golden flecks inside sparkling with about every change of thought. The scroll was still plain to see in her lap, but her arms were now draped over it, hiding some of its contents still, and the pack had yet to be yanked back from the bush.

His eyes shot open, locking on the source of the green blur.  The voice cut through his headphones like a hot knife through butter, it seemed.  No, she'd removed them, of course.  Having recovered from a near heart attack, his gaze flickered, noting the headphones dangling below his branch by their cord, music still pumping through them, and louder now, seeing as his ears weren't there to absorb the sound.  Hideo returned his attention to the girl on his lap, just in time to be flicked on the nose.  She was accusing him of being a stalker?  Wonderful...  That was just the kind of reputation he needed...  But, before he could even try and explain himself, she was gone, flapping down, toward the girl below.

Retracting his hanging headphones, he placed the around his neck.  He slid his hand into his pocket momentarily, and the music stopped.  It seemed that it was time to introduce himself.  Not to mention, save this girl from the terror that was Mei.  Keeping his eyes on the two below, he patted around his lap, trying to find the book.  But, it wasn't there.  He looked down at himself, only seeing what his sense of touch had already told him.  The book was gone.  More than likely, Mei had knocked it off his lap when she sat there, and took its place.  Well, that was priority one on his list.  If he lost the book, he was out some money that was probably better spent.  It was always better to have something to show for the expenditures one made.

Hideo kicked one leg over the other, and fell from his branch, landing on the grass with a thump.  Without wasting any time, his eyes scanned through the green, looking for the grey rectangle.  And, there it was, sitting at the base of the tree.  Plucking it from the ground, he flipped through it quickly, making sure his bookmark was in the right spot.  Of course, it wasn't.  It wasn't even in the book at all anymore.  So, he would be rereading some already covered ground, most likely.  With a sigh, the book was returned to the pocket it originally came out of.

He stepped out from behind the tree, making his way to the two girls.  Now, how was he going to explain himself?  Shaking his head, he placed a hand on Mei's shoulder.  "Please, pay no mind to her," he stated to the blonde one, "She tends to come to the wrong conclusions, and make rather rude accusations."  His hand left the younger girl's shoulder, extending itself to the target of his speech.  "My name is Hideo.  I was merely trying to escape the noise of the village, coming out here.  It was working pretty well until recently."  His eyes flashed a glance at the winged girl.  Suddenly, he realized that he was probably being viewed as an enemy.  It was an easy assumption to make, seeing as he didn't wear his forehead protector.  It was just another thing that marked him as the property of someone else.  "By the way, I noticed you were from Kumogakure as well.  I don't recognize you from my time at the academy.  When did you graduate?"

Mei was about to answer Cielle before Hideo walked up behind her, and put his hand on her shoulder. With a bit of a jump she looked over at him, as he spoke to Cielle, with what seemed to be a condescending tone. With a bit of a suborn pout look on her face she tilted her head to look down to the left away from Hideo, in a defiant yet sarcastic way, Hideo that is rude... I don't assume things, and make wrong conclusions, and I am not rude.... besides I was just kidding.... she said shuffling a bit, before he flashed her another glance. Oh come on you were being to mellow anyhow, besides you need to learn to be more active, and enjoy life.... after all... you never know when it might be cut short~ Mei stated with almost a shadow covering her face as if to show to her true nature; however this shadow quickly dissolved into the much more cheerful, and normal aura that she had.

It was then after Hideo pointed out that she was a Kumo ninja, that Mei being the unobservant brick wall she was finally noticed it. She is Kumo huh? Cool, hmmm I wonder what she is practicing out here all by herself? I should ask, but then again Hideo might yell at me like I am a little kid, even though he is the one who is little..... oh well no matter his problem if he gets hurt. As if she was a voucher Mei began to make her way around the both of them, and after she almost completed a circle, she stopped, and looked at Cielle. So what are learning how to do? Since you seemed to be fairly focused until I came along, it must be a pretty good technique. she said with an innocent aura about her, almost to insinuate, that she was trying a bit too hard to not scare the girl she had just met.

[4/9]

The whole time Cielle kept a smile on her face, aimed at the now two people. Only one simple thought was sent up to whoever resided in the heavens.

'I'm sorry...'

Not sure what she'd done, she sent it up regardless and hoped for some divine forgiveness from whoever she'd surely ticked off. Maybe great-grandma-ma, as she hadn't been a loving woman to begin with. Hideo's reasoning didn't sound far off from her own, preferring privacy from prying eyes - though this had failed by now - while trying to practice. "Ah, I don't think we were in the same graduating class seeing as I only did quite recently," the end of her sentence trailed off some and her smile faded into a bit of a pout and look of disappointment. She could've been years ahead of her current state if she hadn't been held back, "Was forced to take a few years off from the academy so do have quite a bit to catch up on it seems." Having reread the scroll a few times over by this point, she rolled it up, deciding more practice would be better than memorizing it line for line.

"Well, my plan is to become a medic, so I managed to hijack some technique scrolls and apparently am beginning with the 'Chakra Scalpel.' Hmm....perhaps fish would be a good practice dummy for this exercise," the sentence was punctuated by a mild growl from her stomach, said more to herself aloud than to the duo before her. She could practice cutting through the fish's scaly outside while at the same time cooking the pieces over a fire for lunch. Unaware of their states of hunger her eyes turned up to them, thoughtful, "Hey...you guys wouldn't mind helping me out a bit, would you? We could have lunch while I also try to get in some practice of my new technique, and then...maybe you guys could help me with the other two I have?" No longer faceless shadows, Cielle had already calmed greatly from her disturbed state, especially since one seemed to be of her village, while the other was...amusing. A bit dark, but that had bounced off of Cielle like a rubber ball to a wall. What was life without enjoying it anyways?

Ignoring Mei's defense, and the hollow threat, Hideo paid more attention to the recent acquaintance.  She wanted to be a medic.  That was good.  It meant that she was concerned for the well being of others.  Not too many people were, these days.  Then again, being a medical practitioner, she probably wasn't that adept at defending herself.  That could be a problem if Mei ended up pulling here, what she did back when he himself was training.  He couldn't help but let out a small laugh, remembering that day, and placing it in context with this occurrence.  How bad was the security in the village, that the Genins could get away with stealing scrolls so often?  Someone needed to tighten that up.

The girl mentioned fish, then requested they help her practice.  That was all well and good, but they were in the mountains.  He didn't know the area very well, but he could guess that there wasn't any water too close to this place.  And if there was, there wasn't likely to be any fish.  But, he didn't want to point that fact out.  For one, she may prove him wrong, and make him look like a moron.  On the other hand, though, he might come off as arrogant, insulting her idea.  So, he came up with a crafty lie.  "I'm not very keen on fish," he said, "Perhaps you could use something else?  I can't say I've ever eaten one, but I'm sure there are plenty of squirrels in this area."
