It was upon the instant she heard the click of the doorknob etch its way up her arm did a commotion sound from behind the door. Overriding the fleeting sensation of fear in her lungs, she pulled the pine open the rest of the way. A littered assortment of bodies could be seen down the length of the hallway in mangled messes of severed nervous systems. Eyes skimming over the floor, she followed a peculiar, unexplainable line of paper trailing to the washroom entrance a few meters off. ‘… Okay,’ she thought to herself, slightly perplexed. It had begun as a strange day, why should this be any different.
Finally feeling as if she had control of her mind and limbs now, she was proven wrong upon the sound of a voice not too far off. How she had missed this figure in her initial scan of the surroundings, she did not know. Either way, the surprise sent her stumbling backwards, crashing heavily on the door behind her. With a moan, she slid into a sort of half kneeling position in the doorway and rubbed the back of her head. Looking up with an embarrassed, crooked smile, she laughed lightly at the predicament. Gathering what straight thoughts she could muster, she attempted to speak. “Ah, yes… hey!” Rather than making herself appear more foolish by trying to stand again, Ashley simply leaned against the door looking up.
However, her cheerful attitude was more of a veil to hide her discomfort of the situation. She didn’t know anything about these strange zombies… where they came from, why they were there, their strengths, weaknesses… everything was a mystery she had locked away when she found refuge in the English classroom. ‘What if he’s a zombie too…?’ Ashley thought suspiciously to herself, keeping her eyes pinned on the figure across the hall. ‘Trying to act all friendly…’ Despite the strength of her mistrust, she kept her face clear of any emotions that would give away these thoughts. It would remain her little secret for now.
Pushing the light strands of hair from her face, Ashley looked around the hall more intently. The white walls were crackling and fading… no doubt from the vibrant sun that stole through the half-open windows of each classroom. Cork boards and notices lined the walls amongst the array of numbered lockers and doors. It was ordinary… just like every other day. But there was a feeling about the aging school that chilled her to the bone now. It was contaminated… this feeling of utter and complete distress ate away the paint and crippled chalk boards. Her ordinary sanctuary was now foreign… unsafe. Every breath taken was harsher than the last… the same feeling you get when you’re sitting in a hospital waiting room, watching the minute and hour hand racing to the twelve. There was silence.
“So… who are you?” The young girl altered her attention back to the person (or zombie?) across the hall. With intense eyes and a lingering note in the air, she looked at him, pondering the possible outcomes of this acquaintance. With what she had watched outside, she couldn’t decide on one in particular.

Rickie crawled slowly through the vent. Everytime he went forward he heard a loud bang from the metal below him. He knew that he would never excape the people below him if he was making so much noise. He knew that his only hope was to find a way out of the vent and into a safer and more efficiant hiding place. He was having abit of a hard time breathing but, he kept going nevertheless. He saw only by the light of the rooms below the ventilation. The light gave him little help but, it let him know where he was going to a small extent. As he crawled, he came to a vent over shadowing the woodshop class. Rickie smiled. The class was ended at lunch and the teach made sure to lock the door. Rickie knew that no one would be in there. He opened the vent and slipped out. He then heard the pounding of hands upon the woodshop door. Rickie knew that he needed a weapon and fast. _________________

After he re-entered the restroom, his heart was beating much faster than it's normal pace. He needed to do something, anything in case his first plan didn't work. He then though of something, he would use half of each roll to clog the toilets. He started walking them, well running, but heard a loud crack. Despite knowing it was a bad idea he walked towards the door to examine the noise.
He pushed open the door slowly, looking through the best he could and there he saw it, the body of the zombie. However it was not moving and there were a couple of people in the hall behind him. He decided one of them must have 'taken care' of the zombie and proceeded to open it and meet the new people, or zombies for that matter. Hey... He said quietly, he was still deciding whether these were friend or foe. Then he noticed one of them, one of his class mates for English. Is... Is that you Ashley? He asked, still quiet after all who knew maybe the zombie had gotten to her before him.

Hikari had been in the Tech Department of the school, this time getting into trouble. She had been trying to hack her way into the teacher's computer, but she had been caught by the teacher. She had been in quite a bit of trouble, and was made to sit in one of the desks in the classroom, while the teacher called the Principal's office. However, it was during that call that alll hell broke loose. The teacher and Hikari heard the knocking on the door. The teacher told the thing knocking to go away; she was dealing with a troublesome student. However, the knocking continued, and Hikari slipped behind the desk while the teacher went to scold the student herself. When Hikari heard the door open, the teacher let out a blood-curdling scream, and Hikari heard something else. Something that wasn't... human. She heard ripping, cracking, and tearing sounds, and then something heavy hit the floor. She stayed still, mostly from fear of being discovered by whatever obviously killed the teacher. She heard shuffling that was getting closer to her, but still, she stayed still, besides for slight quivering that she couldn't hold back. A noise happened somewhere, and then Hikari heard the shuffling go away, farther and farther. Finally, she let out a concealed breath.
She steadied herself, and calmed her quivering. When she looked around the corner, she almost gagged. The sight of the teacher's dismantled body laying on the ground was even too much for her to bear. She figured these things were drawn by noise, as evidenced by the thing moving away after hearing that sound. She walked quickly, but stayed silent. She didn't want to draw any more of those things. She found another person, apparently talking to others. She whispered to him, "H-hello...?" and hoped that it wasn't one of those creatures. Just in case he was (she assumed it was a guy), she stepped back a bit. _________________

The Mall:
Although Yukimaru was stripped of his only weapon, his chances of survival barely decreased. No, it wasn't because they were still pretty high, but because they were extremely low to begin with. The insane person who grabbed his stun gun created a lot of noise, and through the silent halls of the mall, the echo was carried far and wide. It attracted the thoughtless creatures from outside to take a step into the building, in search of their prey. However, counting on a stun gun to work against the dead, who were walking despite fatal wounds and sometimes even missing limns, was optimistic at least. It did work, for a few seconds, while the electric discharge shook their bodies somewhat. But after that, the creatures simply kept on walking towards the prey, and soon, the security officer's weapon lost an owner. Now, everyone still trapped inside was in an even worse position, including Yukimaru himself. The zombies were gradually filling the halls, and although they didn't seem to have any means or desire to find the survivors, escaping would become harder and harder with every minute. If he wanted to leave alive, the young security guard needed to move fast.
The School:
As the eighteen-year old boy opened a way into the workshop, the metal grate of the vent made a lot of noise, falling on top of some tools, or perhaps just junk. Naturally, the reaction from the undead cannibals was prompt, and the locked door began to creak in protest of how roughly it was being handled. Of course, it could be just that the mindless creatures were slamming against it with their full weight, and it couldn't take that kind of punishment for long. It was impossible to tell how many creatures were there outside the room, but one thing was certain: the noise they were already making would only serve to attract more and more of them to the place. There was no way for Rickie to go back into the ventilation system either: the shaft was too high for him to reach, the room had no chairs and all the tables were nailed down for safety reasons. On the other hand, there was quite a bunch of things that could be a deadly weapon: portable electric screwdriver, a light saw, hammers of all kinds and other tools. Of course, how effective they would be against creatures that didn't feel pain, couldn't be knocked out and would move even with broken bones was a different matter.
I'm shaking... how pitiful, - Sieva thought. It really pissed him off, which was probably a good thing: he could never manage his full strength without getting angry. He quickly got up, seemingly standing firmly, but in reality he was just forcing himself to not be weak, as weird as that sounded. I'm... - he started talking, taking a step closer to the girl, who seemed as spooked by his presence as he was by hers a moment ago. How stupid. She was the one who appeared behind me all of a sudden, so why is she scared?...nobody, - he finished coldly, turning away and towards the restroom door, from which a person who tried to pull off the toilet paper plan came out. The hand that was meant to help the girl get up was never moved. Another boy appeared, one who seemed to know Ashley, the girl. He abruptly turned around, automatically getting into a fighting stance, as he heard a faint noise behind himself. Of course, that was rather pointless against creatures like these, but he was too used to doing something like that. What he saw wasn't what he expected to see. Oh. It's a kid. Four people is a crowd... - he said the last bit very quietly, to himself and not anyone else. What did he care how many people it was? He chuckled lightly. I've been playing too many video games. Even in this situation, I can't help but think this way... well, I had always said I would rather die young while leading an interesting life than live a hundred years in this boring world. He closed his eyes for a few moments, concentrating on sound, but there didn't seem to be any more zombies, at least moving ones, within a couple dozen meters. Well, since we met like this, might as well get to know one another. Kid, come over here, - he said, making an inviting gesture towards Hikari, - I'll start. Class three-C, seventeen years old, male. White skin, brown hair and eyes. Unassuming appearance, boring personality. Oh, and call me Sench. Let's work together to survive from now on. Although he said that in his words, if one looked into his eyes, they would see he didn't mean it at all. No, he really did want to work together with them, but his goal was different from spoken. Inside, he could barely keep himself from shaking with excitement as he thought about what lied ahead of them. Yukimaru walked out the store and then looked back over the banister and could see what happened to those who became brave in their insanity. He closed his eyes and sat down on the floor and pulled his knees close to him. His eyes were tightly shut to the point he began to tear out of pain. "I can't do this. I can't make it out of here. I can't find a logical way out. Even if I could I'd never make it to the door in time just by myself with no weapon. The handgun is on the first floor, behind the security door." He said as he began to rock himself to ease his tension. As he did, he felt a hand touch his shoulder and he instinctively kicked forward toward where the groin area would be and he let out a massive shout of surprise.
When he opened his eyes, a young blond with khaki shorts, sandals and a white shirt was on the floor before him. Yukimaru's face went blank as he saw the normal human being before him cringing in pain and whispering small curses.
"I'm sorry, you just startled me. Don't you realize that this is a serious situation? Running up on people..." Yukimaru started as the man looked at him.
"It's not nice to automatically kick people in the balls!" The young man roared back. "Besides, there no zombies on this level. We'd like to call this level Survivor Haven, if temporarily. Truth be told, we're lucky. Those things aren't smart enough to stumble upon the two elevators. And even if they did..." The man spoke as Yukimaru looked to the elevator.
"Each one could carry a maximum of 15 people. The chances they would all stumble into it would be low. But..." Yukimaru stood up and then looked at the man. "I get it..." He whispered. "My name is Yukimaru."
"I'm Keiji. You're a security guard which means you have access to the employee parking lot. Right?" He asked as Yukimaru nodded suspiciously.
"I do. But how do you..." The man cut off the young guard.
"It's common knowledge there's a secluded parking lot for the employees underground. The only way there is down on the first floor past a series of Guarded doors. If we could get there, then we'd be in the clear." Keiji thought out loud.
"It's not that simple. I mean, how many people are still left in this mall?" Yukimaru said as he looked at Keiji's face turn away.
"There are 18 of us left. Amongst us, 4 of them are elderly. 6 are children. And one is gravely sick. The situation as left them in a slight coma. In the initial incident, we all ran up here as fast as we could. There were 50 of us then. But..." Keiji looked down at his fists.
"Human nature took over and those unable to make it were left behind." Yukimaru said solemnly. "I can't guarantee if I take you all with me, that we'll all make it out."
As he spoke, several people walked out of the nearby store. Small children and the elderly being supported by teens and young men and women. Yukimaru looked up and his heart fell into the pit of his stomach and then he closed his eyes.
"You're the only one who can help us from the looks of things. We don't need guarantees. We don't need false hope. What we need is a plan. We've all resolved our wills to one thing. Those who do survive will continue to do so. And right now, you're the ace in the hole and we need to use you in this moment." Keiji said as he stood up finally and offered a hand to Yukimaru who nodded and took the hand and stood up.
"I see..." Yukimaru said as he thought a moment. "These people aren't afraid. They're willing to give their lives even if it means only one of us survives. I don't know how they can do that willingly and steel their hearts like that. I wish I had their strength. But they need me. And I might need them. I can save them. I will save them..." He thought to himself. "I have a plan but it's dangerous. And some of us might get killed." He said as he looked right into all their eyes. "If this is the path we're all gonna walk we need to think about the important thing here. There's one exit. It's wide enough to fit two people at a time, and only about 10 of are gonna make it before the door closes behind us in 30 seconds. Accounting the Zombies, we have 10 seconds to get 19 people across the threshold."
"How do you suggest we do that?" Keiji asked as Yukimaru pointed to the elevator.
"Those things move towards sounds. We need to get them on the elevator and moved around the mall. If we can get at least 100 zombies on the second floor..." Yukimaru thought.
"Then we'd have more space to maneuver." A girl in a kimono, who appeared to be a shop worker said as Yukimaru nodded.
"Exactly. Spreading out their numbers would be dangerous. If more then 15 zombies enter the box, it'll be too much and the cables will strain and break. Then we'd have a more serious issue to contend with." Yukimaru said as the group looked at him confused. "They would have broken into the employee parking lot. And all the elevator door shafts will open."
"The noise will drag them to the doors..." Keiji said as Yukimaru nodded. "... why do the doors open?"
"It's a stupid safety mechanism that allows people in the opposing cars to be let out as the entire system shuts down. We need to move fast because we've made a lot of noise so far. And if they're lucky they might get upstairs in other ways. But I can reverse the escalators on this floor to give us a chance." Yukimaru said as the group nodded. "We need anything that can make noise. A phone or whatever. We need to get it as loud as possible." He said as the group began to disperse out and look for items.
"We're counting on you, Yukimaru." Keiji said as he walked over to a nearby music store.
Yukimaru nodded and then ran back down the eastern wall and towards the escalator and then pulled out his keys and began resetting the escalator to go down. But then his mind crossed that he was suppose to get the radio from one of the stores on the opposite side of the mall. He sighed as he took the escalator down. The target store was one called "Child's Fantasy", where his friend was last positioned. He made his first steps towards the store. As he did, the down escalator was still going up. When he passed by, a straggling zombie grabbed his leg and pulled him down. His eyes lit up with fear as the zombie tried to bite his leg. He swallowed some of his fears and kicked the monster in his head to get it to release. The zombie recoiled but continued to try to bite. Yukimaru was crying out of fear as a fire extinguisher crush the monster's head and Yukimaru looked up.
"You need to be careful and tell someone when you're gonna move." Keiji said as he pulled the your man up to his feet.
Yukimaru sighed and then reversed the escalator on the second floor. The Stadium:
Although safe for the moment, it would be best for Locron if he could come to a decision soon. He was out in the open, which in this case was actually really good for him, but there was one small problem. The helicopter's crash, and especially the explosion, were extremely loud, easy to hear from several blocks away. Naturally, the undead wouldn't let themselves get held up on their way towards the place. Very soon after he came to, dozens of these creatures appeared at the exit from stadium, clearly moving in his general direction. However, much worse than that, they were also coming from every other direction, practically creating a circle barrier around him, and they weren't getting any further away. If he hesitated, the circle would shrink and its "borders" would get thicker, and then he wouldn't be able to make his escape at all. Whatever he was going to do, whichever way he was going to go, he needed to do it now.
As locron recovered from what little shellshock he had left he wet sticky substance coming out of his right ear. Holding his hand infront of himself locron quickly came to realise that the exsplosion had caused very minor damage to his ear, though it was nothing to be worried about. Bending down locron rubbed the remaining blood off his fingures and onto the floor before standing back up and letting his gaze wonder around again. As he did so he could hear some partial groans coming from a street in the direction which he had planned on heading towards.
Turning his attension towards that particular street locron saw a flicker of orange light much like the one coming from his helicopter. As he observed the flame dancing across the wall a large shadow passed slowly along the wall. Intrigued locron watched as yet another one passed by, which was shortley followed by a large mass of shadows all together.
Deciding that the massive crowd in that street joint with the groans wasn’t appealing locron switched on his light on his rifle and began to head down a nearby allyway away from the crowd and his chosen objective. As he reached the ally entrance he took a quick look back and saw a mass of shadows grouping around the crashed helicopter. “Hmm… light doesn’t seem a good choice at this time.” Switching his tourch off rather quickly he then proceeded down the straight emty allyway and towards a junctio, whilst making sure to make no noise.
With an impassive gaze, Ashley watched the events in front of her unfold with no particular interest. Gradually, her mind began to fade into that common abyss of perpetual thoughts until a voice calling a particular name seized her attention with undeniable abruptness. Was it someone she knew who was now calling her name? A boy had appeared from the bathroom (it became obvious that he was the mastermind behind the toilet paper everywhere) and was now looking at her with hazel eyes.
“Sora?” With a smile as she realized the answer was yes, she quickly pushed herself up from the ground and moved closer to him with a few short steps. “You don’t know how nice it is to see a familiar face right about now!” She gave a light laugh.
However, the reuniting of classmates was cut short as another figure entered the scenery. A young girl, that is. And as such, more events unfolded including a short introduction from the man named ‘Sench.’ For some reason, she found him rather interesting. As if there was more to him than met the eye. However, she left it at that. There would be no point in trying to small talk with a person like this. And so, following suit, she introduced herself as well.
“I’m Ashley. Nothing really important you need to know, so no point rambling about it!” She smiled and spun on the spot – letting her skirt swish with the movement – to face the girl straight on. She had never seen her before in the school so she added, “Can we have a name to match your pretty face?” Roleplaying Characters: Akane Matsuo RPG Stats: Shinobi Rank: C-Rank Chuunin Village: Sand Fame: 0 Reputation: Training Points: N/A Inventory: Kunai x10; Explosion Tag x5; Katana; 100m Wire; Smoke Bomb x3
Rickie knew that he didn't have alot of time. He needed a weapon and he needed one fast. Looking around the room, he spotted a alluminum bat lying in the corner by the teachers desk. Rickie then remembered that the teacher happened to also be a baseball enthusiast. The desk was on the other side of the room, away from the door. Rickie grabbed the bat and turned. The door began to crack. Rickie reached into his pocket and grabbed one of his bombs. He held it ready and when the door caved in, he activated it and threw it into the hoard of zombies. A large explosion insued and most of the zombies were blown to bits.Fire clinged to the un-dead remains. A few that happened to survive crawled torward Rickie. He was able to get around them easily though. He ran out the destroyed door and down the hall. He knew that he had to get out of the building before it burned down. He didn't see any zombies but, he had a feeling that they would be there soon. The sprinklers turned on and Rickie hoped that it would be enough to stop the flames or let everyone know to get out of the building. He head torward one of the few emergency exits that the school had.
Rickie's plan was sound: blow up the undead and leave. Of course, he didn't know that the best of their senses was hearing, or he wouldn't have exposed his position like that. His position was now very dangerous: even if he ran, chances that he would be able to pass by all the zombies swarming towards the workshop were slim at best. However, it was the least of his worries. Perhaps he miscalculated the distance, the power of his creations or both; neither did he take into account the amount of hazardous materials in the room he used powerful explosives in. If the teachers knew he could make something like that with freely available materials, they would be sure to pay more attention to what and where they put, but now it was far too late, for both them and the boy. The large explosion blew apart the several stumbling corpses, along with the door and a good portion of the wall. The powerful shock wave launched several large fragments of the door in Rickie's direction, and they were all too happy to find themselves a new place in his chest, arms and abdomen area. But although very painful, those wounds weren't fatal. Yet the shock of the explosion and sudden severe pain incapacitated him temporarily, which was enough for a large metal shelf with many sharp objects lying on it to fall on top of him. He could be considered lucky if that extinguished his life, because if not, he would be eaten alive by the zombies that were sure to come.

Rickie Bennett (Nobody) is dead
OOC: I never liked those bombs you had to begin with. I also didn't like how you so easily avoided the dangers I hinted at throughout your short escape. The metal bat absolutely out of place almost did it. But having those bombs, which you made from chemicals freely available in school, have the destructive power of a real grenade, was way over the limit, especially since you only took the beneficial part of a powerful explosive
