So, I have a site and I need help figuring how to do something. I finally got the coding to show all the user groups at the bottom of the page. Now, I just need to know how to code it so the groups show up in different colors and then the user's name show in the corresponding colors

Where you have the names for the groups, as in the specific place you've typed it in, you should be able to use HTML coding to change the colour. Either that or BB code. It should specify which you're able to use.
Once you have the place just type in the tags; you can use a colour reference chart or do it the lazy way and use the preset colours (red, yellow, purple, blue, indigo, etc).

I've been searching for like a half hour and I can't find the coding for said area
Also, I should point out this is my first time working with coding
OzanaruSyra
Okay, let's do this the easy way. What type of forum are you using?
Riku Tensei
phpBB2 I believe
I used myfreeforum.org
OzanaruSyra
Add me on MSN and I'll teach you how to do it from there, or ask someone else on your MSN list because it requires a bit of explanation if you haven't used code before.
Riku Tensei
I'll add you on MSN when I can get on a computer that doesn't have any restrictions or sites blocked.
Also, PM me your MSN account name since I don't use MSN, I use meebo

>.> It's on my profile, but unfortunately I'm busy for the rest of today until 10:30.
Riku Tensei
Sorry, I overlooked it then. Don't worry about being busy, I probably won't be on a computer until saturday

It is a bit tricky to set up at first, but easy to maintain once done:
BE SURE TO SAVE ALL FILES IN NOTEPAD OR WORD BEFORE EDITING, IN CASE YOU MESS UP YOU CAN JUST COPY THE SAVED FILES FROM NOTEPAD/WORD BACK IN...SO YOU DO NOT MESS ANYTHING UP! EVEN A SMALL TYPO IN CODE CAN SEVERELY MESS UP A WHOLE FORUM
Spoiler:
The first thing you need to do is work out how many of your ranks you wish to give a color too.
1. Goto admin panel --- 2. General --- Ranks.
You should now see a screen like this:
Here you will see the table Css Class with the Ranks numbered,this is where you get the .css information from, please make a note of YOUR (not the example shown here) rank numbers and the rank names.
2. Now goto Admin panel -- 3. Styles -- Edit Templates/Logos -- using the top drop bar choose the template you wish to edit.
Now look at the top in the area marked Choose Forum template/javascript/css File to Edit use the drop down bar and find
.css Or Overall_header.tpl This depends on where your .css is controlled, templates like Sub Silver have the .css in the overall_header.tpl
To find how yours is controlled goto your overall_header.tpl and look for a massive code like this:
<style type="text/css">
<!--
/*
The original subSilver Theme for phpBB version 2+
Created by subBlue design
http://www.subBlue.com
NOTE: These CSS definitions are stored within the main page body so that you can use the phpBB2
theme administration centre. When you have finalised your style you could cut the final CSS code
and place it in an external file, deleting this section to save bandwidth.

If you do not see something like above then your .css is controlled in the .css.tpl file, if you do see the code above in your overall_header.tpl, then you need to make the edits in your overall_header.tpl
Note.
.css will be named something like myff_[YOURFORUMNAME]1.css
/* This is the line in the posting page which shows the rollover
help line. This is actually a text box, but if set to be the same
colour as the background no one will know ;)
*/
.helpline { background-color: {T_TR_COLOR2}; border-style: none; }
You can change the size of the text by changing 12px to something of your choice for example 14px.
Now when members that come on who have the ranks you have put in the .css they will have the new colours.
