Jutsu Training

I'm about to start teaching people some techniques, and here's what I've been wondering. Now, the rule is, it takes N posts to learn a jutsu, or M posts with a teacher.
The thing is, let's say my character is highly knowledgeable in ninjutsu and taijutsu, but doesn't know the particular technique I wanted to teach someone. But I would still be able to give some valuable pointers (I RP teaching). Will this require M or N posts then?

Personally, I think it should be M (less posts), since I still RP teaching the person.

It is the amount for teaching points I think. It's the fact that you have a teacher, not really that they know the jutsu.

Please make a vote >_> just in case...

Personally, I think that you could get an extra bonus on post reduction if the teacher actually knows the jutsu... after all, a teacher would be a lot better if they know exactly what you're trying to do, and has done it himself multiple times.

You bring up a good point.  I might edit in something to the rule such as I explain below.

For Example.

???? no Jutsu needs 10 posts to learn, 8 With a Teacher, 5 If The Teacher's Main Type of Jutsu Is The Same As The Jutsu Trying To Be Learnt, 3 If The Teacher Has The Jutsu.

Of course this is all just an example and not real, final terms yet.

Question... How could someone teach something they don't know themselves. I mean you aren't going to go to a fisherman and ask him to teach you how to do brain surgery. So why would you go to a ninja to learn a Jutsu that they themselves don't know. I understand the concept of reducing the post count, but how is questionable.

Vareables such as: how good the teacher is at teaching, How skilled they are at the Jutsu, how skilled the student is with that type of Jutsu. Example: My RPC Kodo Raptor sucks with Ginjutsu so it would take him many times longer to learn one then someone who specializes in it. If he had a teacher who specializes in Genjutsu and their sikk with said jutsu is great then Kodo's training time will be shortened.

Lets say it take 5 posts to learn ??? Ginjutsu. Because Kodo doesn't use Ginjutsu that time will be doubbled to 10 posts. However should he be taught by someone with the jutsu that time will be shortened. If the teacher is a skilled Ginjutsu user the training time will agin be shortened.
Time to learn Jutsu(5)
Kodo's Gin skill(x3)
Teachers has Jutsu(-3)
teacher is skilled(1/2)
teacher's Gin skill( 1/2)
(5x3=15... 15-3=12... 12/2=6... 6/2=3
With this format it would take Kodo and his teacher 3 posts each for Kodo to learn the Ginjutsu.

yes I like to use math Smile Cool

I believe it's not really that hard. You could just say that some of the basic  jutsu's are in texts books and scrolls for training.

Well, here's the way I see it.  If the Sensei doesn't know the Jutsu, then the amount of posts shouldn't be deducted.  If I'm reading this right that is, if not, sorry.

Well, I had this same problem with my student, Shizuka. Luckily, someone came around and taught the jutsu. However, if you don't know the jutsu, and your RPC has never seen the jutsu, then I think that the Genin should train on their own, because what pointers can you give them about a jutsu they don't know.

If it's like in Naruto when he was learning to use Fuuton Rasengan. Then yeah, but only if you're helping your student to develope that skill and you know what you're doing.
