strengths: He is wise, capable of human speech like some other spirits, he has a lot of stamina, his strength is great, and his speed is excellent, good persuasion skills
Weaknesses: He is easily angered when provoked, when summoned to the human world, he can go into a raging fury, killing anything until he clams down(e.g. Fernir rage). Chakra is limited to the person he is bound to, abilites (e.g. genjustu, Taijutsu) though great, is still severly limited depending on who he is bound too
Jutsu's
Fusion: Fernir is called out from the spirit world to bind his soul with Eric, giving his his strength, speed, stamina, and instincts. He also gives advice though Eric's give his rational thought to Fernir in exchange for Fernir's abilites
Fernir's wrath: Eric uses almost all of his chakra to summon Fernir to the real world without using a scroll or jutsu. Seeing the one he was protecting nearly dead from using that technique. Fernir goes into a wild rage, killing anything he can get his claws or fangs on, except for those Eric will specifiy.
Background: Fernir doesn't really have a past. All he knows was that he died and became the leader of a pack of wolves in the spirit world. Over time, he learned human speech and it became his second language. He was summoned by Eric's ancestor's to be a guardian for every head of the Houkou clan, since Fernir was one of the most powerful wolves in the spirit world. Now, after many years, he has been passed down to Eric to protect and serve

Fernir was running through the spirit world, heeding the call of he who Fernir must protect. As soon as he reached the destination, he felt himself pulled out of the spirit world. He shouted Eric's name, and when he didn't answer, Fernir normally golden eyes turned blood red as he determined who was friend and foe. He let out a terrible howl and rushed at his enemies.
When all the carnage was done, only Eric's comrades and Eric himself were the survivors of Fernir's rage. He then rushed into Eric's soul, fusing with him so he could get his chakra back. More than anything, Eric's survival was Fernir's number one priority.
