Cat Demons and Death GodsToushiro looked around, studying the little post town where he was supposed to meet with the nekojin representatives. It was one of the wealthier places, and it looked nice too. He searched around for a certain inn there the meeting was supposed to hold place. When he found it, he was pleasantly surprised - it was a rather big, and quite luxurious, restaurant. Looks like they have a good taste in such things, - he thought, entering the building. Inside, a waiter immediately made his way to the shinigami. Greetings, how may I help you today? Good day. We, uh, have a reservation. A table for five. Ah, yes. Right this way, please. The waiter started going deeper into the restaurant, maneuvering between the tables, until he came to a stop by a curtain. This is your cabin. I shall be back with your menus shortly. Upon entering the cabin, Toushiro saw a large table, with two luxurious couches to either side of it. Wow, looks really nice, - he said, taking a seat on the right side, - What do you think, R-Kuchiki?

Rukia nods, looking around "I wonder what types of food they have here." She takes a seat next to Toushiro, shifting her zanpakuto to lay better against the seat. "Do you know anything about these Nekojin? What's meaning of allying with them?" Questions again, so inquisitive.
Three nekojin entered the restruant, once from each subclan. One wearing white and green speaks up when they are approached by an waiter. He nods and escorts them to the booth. The three follow him and two smile upon seeing the shinigami, the first on and one that appears to be a med of some kind. "Hello, I'm Sakurazaki Gicho, spokeswoman of the representatives. These are my associates, Li Asukada and Toyako Shinjiki." she bows, "Pleasure to meet you."

I'm not sure. Of the reasons, well... I heard they are associated with spirits, much like ourselves. The Council is hoping that we could share some knowledge with them, also... a big city that bears no allegiance with the shinobi villages could also prove the most valuable ally if we are to go to war with the ninja. While that possibility is grim, we cannot completely cross it out, - he says, and then the representatives arrive. Alright, I better not screw this up... but I wonder how I am supposed to reach an alliance agreement with anybody when I don't even know what they or, even worse, we want.
He stands up and bows. Well met. My name is Hitsugaya Toushiro, and this is Kuchiki Rukia. And they're all much older... I wonder if that's going to be a problem. It might be... He sits back down. As you must be aware, we are the shinigami representatives. Our meeting here was arranged in hopes that our two nations will form an alliance. So far so good...

Rukia decides to stay quiet, letting Toushiro handle it for now. It was more his thing anyways. "Pleased to meet you guys," she decides to say, so she won't seem uptight. Toyako, the one wearing a brown cloak removes her hood taking a seat. The other two follow suit. "Indeed, our nation can use an alliance. More and more of our youth are adventuring out into the world, making our presence known. And unlike shinigami, we stick out like sore thumbs. We tend on making peace with all shinobi nations, but a true alliance is needed for security reasons. If any two of them decide to attack at the same time, they'd surely decimate us." explians Sakurazaki, picking up a menu. As Sakurazaki and Li decided what to order, Toyako eyes the two shinigami. "Are all of your upper class so young?"

Toushiro took a sip of his tea, which the waiter brought just a minute ago. It was rather good, but not quite what he was used to. If there is one thing he missed Matsumoto for, it was the tea. He never asked what she made it of, but it was just magical. This isn't what I should be thinking about right now... I can understand your concern. It was proven many times in the past that shinobi villages hunger for riches, both material and mental. And a highly cultured nation like yours is no doubt like a treasury to them. Our Council shares the same concern for our secrets. But military threat is not the only reason we are seeking an alliance with your people. Our two people are much alike. We are both close to the spirits of this world, and possess many valuable secrets. We were hoping that apart from a military alliance, we could establish a trade between our two people, both in material things and knowledge. I am sure there is much that we could teach each other, and both benefit from it. Whew, I hope this was good. And to answer your question, no. The ranks shinigami gain are based on their skill and knowledge. He glanced at Rukia, wondering if she was feeling uncomfortable. Maybe I shouldn't have brought her along... then again, she probably wouldn't want to miss it.

Sakurazaki pushes Toyako back slowly, and it's evident she's doing so in a sort of playful way. "In that case, shinigami most be rather intelligent." The three order their meals. Rukia did a few minutes ago with Toushiro and her tea and pastries arrive as the nekojin are ready to order. Li looks at Toushiro, talking this time to speak "Indeed knowledge is the most valuable resource. I think this alliance is very exceptable, of course it's up to the elders." He looks at the two other, who seemingly can't decide on there orders. Is it me Shirayuki, or are they a bit childish? A little, but I think only healthly so. Being serious all the time ages you faster. Look, Toushiro is getting gray hairs as we speak! They finish ordering and Sakurazaki brings her attention back to Toushiro. "Maybe our leaders should talk directly. I see no reason not to join together as friends and allies. What do you think Toyako?" "Maybe a test of some sort." "Excuse Toyako, she believe skill is the only way to show worth. Although it doesn't seem to be that bad of an idea...." Sakurazaki continues.

The tenth division captain was rather pleased with how the meeting was going so far. If the representatives all agreed that an alliance would be beneficial, then it was almost as good as already signed. Don't let your guard down just yet... I can't be believe you are telling me that. A test is alright with me, though it seems that we would have to account for the whole of Soul Society. What kind of test were you thinking? At this point, he should be submissive with anything they propose, as long as it was reasonable. He already got their agreement, now it was time to show that shinigami were willing to cooperate. I wonder what Rukia is thinking...

"A fight, why of course!" Toyako says, grinning."Foolishness, a fight won't prove any thing." Li says, talking out a scroll. "Rather let's show them we trust them." He slides it across the table looking at Sakurazaki. "I suppose, " she hands Toushiro another scroll. "This scroll is the alliance agreement and the one she gave you is the location of our village." "If they think this is right, I agree whole heartedly. However, we need to make a signing event." she places her hand on her chin, "But where to have it?" Rukia smiles, "This is so exciting, this is the first time we've really associated with others on such a grand scale. I'm honored to even be apart of this negioation."

Toushiro cursed in his mind. This is a tough situation... I should present them with something equally valuable... but, the question is, is this map not a fake? It could be, since they are not very eager to disclose the location of their city. Then, what do I do? Give them a fake of my own? Or give them the real thing, hoping they are not trying to trick us? And if I give them the fake and this turns out to be the real thing, then it will compromise our alliance beyond repair... damn it. But it is interesting that they have an alliance document all ready... After thinking for several seconds, he reaches into his bag and takes out a map that showed the location of Soul Society. Guess I'll have to take the risk... if this is a trick... I'll have to hunt them down and retrieve the map. This scroll shows how to get to Soul Society. It is well-hidden, and cannot be reached by accident. And the signing of the agreement... I was authorized by the Council to do it. And since we are trying to keep this somewhat a secret from possible... ill-wishers, we could sign it here and now.

Sakurazaki looks a bit irrated, "This is a big event that should be celebrated," she takes out a pen, one that looks somewhat different and unique. "But we have full authorazation to sign in place of the leaders. And in light of the situation, this does seem best." The food arrives, and the table is barely big enough for them to sign the document on with plates on it. Toyako grabs a bunch of the plates, balancing on on her tail as well. "Hurry up, there hot." Sakurazaki nods, flinching a bit when she presses down on the pen. She signs is and passes it the Li, who also signs it. Toyako hands Sakurazaki her food and signs as well. "Your turn," she slides it to the two death gods. Rukia takes the pen, "Ouch, what the?" Toyako smiles, "It takes the blood of it's signers," she looks at Sakurazaki, "Why did you forget the tell them? Anyways, blood in the contract makes it binding. Well moreso than a normal contract."
|
Sench
|
Heh, signing a contract with blood... how silly. As if it will mean anything more than one signed with ink. And it's not even the leaders of our people who are signing it, so it is a wasted gesture. Well, whatever... I just hope it isn't poisoned or something... Toushiro takes the pen from Rukia and signs the contract. There. It is done. I understand your... displeasure about the situation, but surely you understand that preparations for such a celebration will take a lot of time, and I don't think either of our cities can accommodate the people from the other one. I am sure a solution that will suit both can be found. But that is not my problem.
|

"It's not that important, this is just a big event. Celebration is in order but not needed. Besides, we wouldn't have to have that many of our people come to each others villages. Just the politicians, there guards and perhaps a few lucky citizens." Li says, receiving the contract back. He blows to make sure the ink is dry, then rolls it up. Each representative stamp it. Li makes handseals and taps it, which making it teleport away. "There, it's sent to the elders. So are there any other matter you wish to address? Right now we'll keep this silent, at least until the finer details are worked out."

The young jounin takes a sip of his tea before answering. There might be some matters that could use discussing, but I wasn't informed of any. Soul Society will likely send an embassy soon, that will take care of all other things. Toushiro sat back and relaxed a bit. His mission with these people was done. Now, he could... Do what? Go back to your other duties? You never do anything but work. Seriously, it's even worse than Soul Society. In that place you at least had some friends... surely you were mostly stuck doing paperwork, but we used to have fun, too. You are wasting the best years of your life for those old fools in the council. What are you saying? I... well, what do you suppose I should do? Well, you could... eh... I don't know. Even though he just won an arguement with his zanpakuto, Toushiro did not feel elated in the slightest. What he said was true, and it was actually very sad. Well, I'll just have to think of something, won't I?

"Alright," Sakurazaki nods and smiles, "We're looking forward to seeing you in the future. Or any shinigami for that matter. I hope you can forgive our sudden leave, but we have many things to attend to." She stand and bows, "Let's go guys!" "I was enjoying the relaxation." Li chimes in. Toyako sighs, "You know Daikonran can't stay still." she gets up, pulling Li with her. All three bow simantenously, and head for the exit. "Godspeed," Sakurazaki says before out of voice range. "They seem nice enough, if a bit odd." Rukia says waving at them, "Hope I didn't seem rude. This is my first time at this kind of thing, I didn't want to mess it up." Oh please, this was an easy negoiation, simply talking wouldn't have done a thing to hinder that.

Yeah, this actually went better than I expected. Eh? What do you mean now? Haven't you been watching? They were all adults, and we're just kids compared to them. Many would have found it insulting to have to talk to us like this. Nah, you're overthinking things. You can never be too prepared. Yeah-yeah... well, what now? Toushiro does not reply but smiles inwardly. Well, now that they're gone, we might as well enjoy our time here. With our field of work, we don't get much free time. You sly little...! You were planning it all along, weren't you? Surely it's not formal... but a date is a date!

Rukia waves, watching them exit the restruant. She nods, "I suppose some relaxation will be good before my next training session. I've thought of a few techniques to help me, and utilize Shirayuki's special features." Kinda weird, but I'll suppose they'll do. Rukia decides to risk a casual conversation, maybe it'll help him loosen up. "So what do you do for fun? I know you can't be all work, that'll be too stressful. Me myself enjoy sampling new foods. The outside world has so many different tastes. I also like drawing, like this." she takes out a marker and draws a bunny dressed up like a captian. It was a bit like a little child's drawing ability.

Hitsugaya listened to Rukia, noting some things to himself. Being a shinigami wasn't easy - not really because of the duties, but because of being busy full-time. There were many that had free time - those who were stationed in Soul Society and did not have to do paperwork, or got out of doing it like his lieutenant. She was a nice woman, but incredibly lazy and somewhat air-headed. It left the young captain with twice as much paperwork, and he was eager to get out of the boring cycle. He finally got a mission in the shinobi villages - only to find out that it was not much better than paperwork. Well, at least now something is finally happening.
Toushiro was glad he wasn't drinking his tea when Rukia showed him her drawing, or he would have choked on it. The picture was... poor at best. That's... nice... He pauses to think of a reply. Me, well... my previous years I was stuck in Soul Society, studying laws, the world and honing my skills... then, when I became a captain, I was stuck in the office all day... I didn't really have time to pick a leasure activity. I'm just glad to be out of the four walls. Speaking of which, I wonder how Matsumoto is doing running the squad...
|
YuweaCurtis
|
"Thank you." She says, putting the picture away and giving Toushiro a skeptic glance. "Hard to believe you didn't have any free time. Being a shinigami in the Protection squads is a lot of work, although out here it's just a waiting game. I almost wish something would happen." She takes a sip of her own tea and takes a bit of her last pastry. "But Matsumoto fukutaicho doing your job? From what I've heard she's kind of an odd ball, no offense. But if Kyouraku-san can do his job as lazy as he is, I suppose Matsumoto-chan can too." She flags down a waitress, "Excuse me, ma'am. May I get an order of these cookies right here? And those two? Also, some more tea." The waitress writes down her order and nods, "It'll be out in a few minutes. Can I get you anything else mister?"
|

Kyouraku-taicho isn't that bad. He spends most of his time relaxing, true, but at least he doesn't distract others with drinking sake. He also has Nanao to cover for him. But 10th squad is a whole different story. It is sort of an administration office of Soul Society, so there's countless times more paperwork than in any other squad. I can only hope that someone had the mind to reassign this duty, or there will be a lot of trouble. He orders another cup of tea from the waitress, as his has shown its bottom. Heh, to tell you the truth, I'm glad to be out of there, if only for a while. Ukitake taicho is a good man, and I appreciate the help he offers me with the squad, but his constant giving me gift candy is kind of annoying. He's been doing that since I took the position of 10th squad 3rd seat when I was ten... - he says, his sight set on the inside as he thinks about the past, - And I don't even like sweets.

The waitress take there orders and leaves. "Ukitake-sama is a great man," she looks down and lowers her voice, "But I miss Kaien-dono. He was a very good fukutaicho." A single tear flows from her eye and she quickly wipes it away. Aw, come on cheer up, Shirayuki pokes her from inside, What's done is done, just remember what he told you. I'm sure he won't want you dragging around like this. Rukia nods and quickly regain her composure, "I suppose we should head back after we finish our second cup of tea. Nii-sama is expecting me to train more. Speaking of him, did he ask you to bring me?"
|
Sench
|
Toushiro only nods when Rukia mentions Shiba Kaien. He knew all about what happened from Captain Jyuushiro himself, and he realized that for Rukia, this was more than just the death of her commanding officer. Luckily, the female shinigami quickly changes the subject. Yeah, I suppose. Byakuya wouldn't want anyone to "bring shame to the noble families", - he says the last phrase with spite, - No, he didn't ask that of me. It was my own decision. Actually, he didn't ask anything of me. Rather than approach me and ask me to help with your training, he would use his political power to have it assigned to me as a mission. Toushiro didn't hide the fact that he was annoyed with it. Byakuya's whole "noble families" set of ideas really got to him. Did he consider talking to Hitsugaya insulting to his honor just because the young captain came from the 63rd district? Toushiro hated when people put themselves above others, especially for reasons such as this. I am the damn Heavenly Guardian for God's sake! How dare he put me down like this... Sheesh, chill out Taking Fuuraiken's advice, Toushiro takes the tea that has just arrived and takes a sip. Well, I think we could take the rest of the day off. What would you like to do next?
|
YuweaCurtis
|
"I can understand you being frustrated at him, but please don't speak of him so disrespectively in my presence." she takes a bit of a cookie. "Not saying you aren't entitled to an opinion, just don't be so spiteful please." she decides to drop the subject. "Hmm what to do? We should do something you enjoy, since you hardly have any free time. We could check out Konoha stores, we're pretty close to the main village." She pulls on her robe. "I could use a kimonos and other cloths, wearing the uniform all the time is drap. I don't see why you don't like sweets though. I mean, I don't want to eat them all the time but they are still really good at times."

Toushiro felt a bit discouraged that he did not have Rukia's support about Byakuya, but he expected not to. He did a lot for her, whatever were his reasons, but he still had a hardly tolerable personality. He wasn't suprised when Rukia suggested going shopping either. Heh, I guess all women think similarly. Matsumoto would also drag me shopping every time we got out of the office, unless she was already slacking somewhere. If there is something you can't buy in Soul Society, it's fancy clothes. Surely ours are finely made and have a wide variety, but they aren't exactly up to fashion. Well, going shopping is as fun as anything else I guess... and about the sweets, well, I never really thought about it. I just don't like them is all.

After paying for the meal provided by "mission funds" the two head to Konoha. As they travel at a comfortable pace, Rukia looks at Toushiro. Obviously he respected her, but was it for her skill or for her boldness? Or is it something else? Huh? Oh... Shut up Shirayuki. He's not my type, so such an advance would be pointless. Well he is a genius though, imagine the good life I'd be. Shirayuki says, giggling.
The two reach Konoha in relative little time, and Rukia asks for direction to the market. Some point out the direction for her. "Alright, let's go Toushiro-sama. Hopefully the prices are considering are considerably low."

Toushiro almost smiles as he walks beside Rukia. He rarely got the time to just walk leisurely like this. Especially being accompanied by a cute girl. Oh, shut up... What's this? Not gonna make excuses? Excuses for what? Oh, you know what for. Something along the lines of "she's probably intimidated by me" or "I am a captain and she's just a 5th seat officer from another squad" or "I am not her type"... you were thinking that, weren't you? You know I wasn't. Gah... well you should have been. The young captain smiles inwardly, until he hears Rukia call him. R-Kuchiki, never call me that again. Hitsugaya taicho - alright, Hitsugaya-san - good, even Hitsugaya-kun or just Toushiro is fine. But never -sama. Alright? When he talked about prices, he thought that the financial gap between them was most likely much bigger than the skill gap.

Rukia weighs the options in her head, she didn't want to disrespect him. But she was just on a casual outting, so she guesses it's ok to address him like a friend. "Alright, Hitsuguya." she replies, seeing the market just ahead. "Eh, it should be cheaper than SS. But I don't have much money. Three outfits will be good enough." If I didn't no better I'd say this is a weak attempt at a date. Heck is a weak attempted at a date. Why else would someone as serious as him be trying to associate with you? Especially since he doesn't like your Nii-san. I mean, he probally wouldn't hate you. But he'd probally just would've left you in Iwa. Maybe you're right, but he hasn't tried anything. So i'm enjoying this little time off.

Well, Hitsugaya is ok. A bit informal, but eh... I don't get it. You said it yourself that she could call you that, and now you're bitching about it? What kind of twisted logic is that?! I'm not... oh, look, just shut up. Um... no. Besides, your attempts at making this a date are pathetic and obvious. Shut up! He smiles slightly when she says about not having much money. Heh... what is it with girls and clothes? You said you didn't have much money, so three outfits would be enough... I don't get it. I doubt I'd get more than two even if I had unlimited funds. Why would you need so many anyway?
|
YuweaCurtis
|
"Oh relax, it's just three outfits." Rukia begins looking through the cloths that where hanging up. It was the "bargain bin" stuff, but sometimes she found good stuff. "Haven't gotten any new clothes for almost a year, so I think I can splurge a bit. Don't get me mistaken for these females that go shopping for the hell of it." She removes a piece of hair from over her eye. "Retract that, I do go shopping for the hell of it. Just not for cloths and such. Speaking of which I should check Science Division for some new gadgets before heading back to Iwa"

Hm, I guess answering a question without actually answering it is also a girl thing... You're just learning all this? Seriously, don't try to understand her logic. It's futile. How come you know all of this? Hey, it's you who's hanging around a lot of girl zanpakutos, not me... Oh... wait, what?! I didn't even know you could... I mean, how?... Don't think too hard about it. But if you must know, zanpakutos can interact with each other at short distances, without having to materialize or being released. Taking in this information, Toushiro wonders if Fuuraiken tried a move on Sode no Shirayuki yet. He thinks that it must be pretty fun, two spirits sealed within swords to have relationships. Oh, yeah... after this, we have to go to our respective villages... and then waste our time there again, waiting for anything to happen.

"It's only as bad as you make it. I mean it is a job and all, but it's one that doesn't take much activity. Well for now anyways. I tend to live my life out how it comes to me. I don't even wear the uniform that often in town." The odd thing is she didn't really have any friends in Iwa, though she acted just the same as she does around Soul Society. Maybe it was because she was still rather rather new to a village just as new. She grabs a simple whitedress from the table and holds it up to herself to judge it's size and looks on her. "What to you think Hitsuguya?"
|
Sench
|
Well, I just can't stand wasting my time... maybe it's the way I grew up. You know, I was always busy since I entered the academy. Training, studying... then working in the office and some rare missions outside Soul Society. I need to be doing something. He looks around the clothes shop they entered but does not find anything that interests him. It mostly had female clothes anyway. Well, I mostly wear a uniform... it's convenient. Looks rather good and is suited for fighting. It was nice, just walking around and talking with Rukia like this. For once, he felt like he could talk freely, without fear of being misunderstood or gossip. Had he talked this way about his job in Soul Society, it would travel far and wide and cause problems. He looks at Rukia when she takes a dress and measures it up to herself. I think it's too plain... how about... - he looks around, then walks up to a stand and pulls out another dress. This one? It was a very light sky-blue color sleeveless dress, with bright yellow, orange, pink, salad green and light blue flowers scattered on its skirt part. You don't know anything about clothes, do you? What? Is it bad?
|
YuweaCurtis
|
"That's a bit unfortunate childhood you have there. I guess it isn't easy being a genius." She was suprised when he not only gave an opinion on the dress, but also made a suggestion. He's getting used to this shopping thing rather quickly isn't he? I suppose, see at least he has an idea of how to start having fun. Maybe... "Maybe you'd get more free time if your fuku taicho wasn't such a slacker, not offense. I wonder if I'd make a good fuku taicho myself." She grins and shrugs, "I suppose I'll see one day huh?" She figures she would have good chance at it if her kidou skills got even better. In her opinion, she could make a decent leader as well.
|
Sench
|
Oh yeah, she totally ignored you. Hahaha. Oh, shut up... He felt quite a bit awkward having suggested a dress and having been ignored about it. To get out of the strange situation, he went back to looking at the stands without putting the sky-blue dress in place yet. Well, I suppose it's not that bad. Besides, I don't have to worry about it as much now that I got out into the world... He looks through the dress stands a bit more before pulling out another one, this time a soft yellow color, with laces on the short sleeves and cloth roses here and there. What do you think?
|
YuweaCurtis
|
She laughs a little when he shows her the second dress. "Actually, that other one was pretty. I like that one better though. You have pretty good eye for a boy that doesn't like shopping." Oh how nice, what's next. Are you about to hit on him or something? Oh shut up, Shirayuki! That's no way to speak to the very thing that will save your life countless times! Anyways, if you like him, just admit it. Quit dragging it out. Not really, he's cute but that's about it. "Well anyways, we should go back after checking a few more store or so." Rukia pick up the first dress she looked at and take the one that Toushiro has. "I'll get these two. Though, normally I prefer simplistic clothes."
|
Sench
|
Toushiro chuckled a bit. I guess I received ample training from Matsumoto then. Come on, stop dragging this out. What? What do you mean? Don't play dumb, you know what I mean! If you like this girl, then be a man and make a move already. Unh, you really have a one-tracked mind you know. Have you never heard of making friends? Since when are you interested in the making of friends? I thought you were all about work... What's with that? I have friends in Soul Society. Hinamori and... And? Even if you count Matsumoto, that still comes to just two. Well, there's Jyuushiro-taicho, and... Oh cut it out. You know that is not what people call "friends". Face it, captain, you just don't do "friends". Alright, then what am I doing now? I don't know... do you? He's gonna be the death of me, - mumbles the jounin, before replying to Rukia, - I guess I do, too. But maybe Matsumoto has a good point when she says "what's the point of wearing any clothes if they don't make you pretty". Then again, I never stopped to think about the whole meaning of that phrase... - he adds a bit quieter and with a thoughtful look.

Rukia's face takes a sarcastic look to it, "Because it isn't socially acceptable?" she chuckles, obviously poking fun at the phrase. "Besides, what you wear says something about you. I'm a very simple person. I only occasionally wear something that is flamboyant." She takes the two dresses up to the counter for purchase. As the person goes over the prices, Rukia pulls a small purse that was concealed in her uniform's sash. She looks at Toushiro and grins, "We should get you something next. You could use it for 'undercover' work. Wearing that uniform most be boring. Don't you ever get tired of it?" Of course not, it fits his personality, Shirayuki says laughing out loud in her inner world.
|

|
Ah, I guess you're right. Then again, "simple" isn't really the word to describe you. You like to come across as a simple person though, don't you? Toushiro watched Rukia as she bought the dresses he had picked out. Why did she do it? Did she actually like them, or was it that she simply didn't want to offend him? Are you asking me? Ask her! Eh, keep quiet. He thinks for a moment before answering her question. Well, I guess it does get old, sometimes. I think it might also stand out a bit... no, a lot more than desired or planned. I've been thinking of replacing it... but then if I went to you, or those nekojin diplomats, wearing something ordinary, neither would take me seriously, don't you think? Also... - he looked to the side, - I have no sense in male clothes. I've seen Matsumoto and Hinamori shop before, so I guess I learned something about female clothing, but...

"You don't think I'm a simple person? I don't know whether or not to take that a compliment or not." She recieves her shopping bag from the lady that ran up her items. "I think I'm pretty plain, especially compared to some of the other personalities in SS." she nods at his mention of wearing the uniform around the reps or her. "I would've respected you as a captian. I would have been a bit more open at first though. As far as the nekojin, I didn't say not to wear the uniform at all. Of course you'd wear it in business situations. Don't worry I'll help you pick out something. Not used to helping guys shop, but hey, looks are looks.

Well, if you recall, at first you were going to use binding arts on me, - said Toushiro, smirking a bit, - And I was wearing a captain's uniform. What would you do if I was dressed casually? They both walked out from the shop and headed to another one, that sold men's clothes. He wondered for a few moments if he would have to go to a store that sells children's clothes. It was actually a wonder that Rukia was able to buy something in that store... or maybe it really was a children's store? Anyway, this area seems strangely familiar, as if I have been here before, but I can't- Taicho! - the shout came from across the street. It was a female voice, one full of joy, and one Hitsugaya wished he did not hear. Oh, I remember now...
In a few moments, he was grabbed and hugged tightly by a busty woman with long auburn hair. Oh, taicho! I'm surprised to see you here! I thought you were in Otogakure! And I thought you hated shopping! Have you changed your mind? Matsumoto... let go! His lieutenant finally released him. He couldn't say he felt comfortable in her mighty embrace, but at least it was much better now that he was about as high as she. In the past, his face would end up- Oi, what are you thinking about? Nothing. Anyway, taicho, what are you doing here? What am I doing here? What are YOU doing here?! You are supposed to be in Soul Society, running the squad in my absence! Ah, well, you see... - the woman started looking around nervously.
Save it. Anyway, I would like you to meet Kuchiki Rukia. She was here with me on a mission. Matsumoto looked around frantically until her sight fell down on Rukia's miniature stature. Oh, hi! It's a pleasure to meet you! I am Matsumoto Rangiku, 10th Protection Squad lieutenant and taicho's full time babysitter! MATSUMOTO! Ah, gomen, gomen. So you are Byakuya's little sister? It's great to finally meet you! I see taicho has finally taken interest in girls!, - she leans closer to Toushiro, who was glaring daggers at her, and winks at him, and then says in his ear, - Nice one, taicho! A girl from the Kuchiki household... that's gotta be worth something! But she kinda... lacks... in figure, you know? Oh yeah, I know. Seriously, couldn't you find a girl with boobs? Shut it! Toushiro looks at Matsumoto blankly before saying, - You realize you weren't whispering just now, don't you? I weren't? Oh, ha-ha... silly me! - she rubs the back of her head.
Suddenly, another person, or rather a spirit, pops in. Fuuraiken stands beside Toushiro. No-no-no, you're totally right! Just look at her, Shiro, she's as fl- A punch from the 10th squad captain cuts short his sentence and sends him tumbling on the ground. Will you two cut it out already?! The whole market is staring at us! And indeed it was. Four people in weird uniforms drew enough attention even without all the commotion they created. Toushiro sighed: this day has just become a lot worse than it was. Let's just get out of here... He started walking and soon entered a random store that sold male clothes. Why did I come here? - he wondered, walking by the shelves.

"That's true enough, but I didn't realize you where a captian at first. I'm sorry for doing that, I don't think I ever properally apologized." She see a men's clothing store and leads Toushiro to it. As they pass a corner, a familiar voice shouts his name. "Oh hi, Matsumoto Fuku Taicho." She listens as the two catch up, inwardly laughing at the pokes that Matsumoto made towards Toushiro. As the conversation gets further, Rukia finds her face warming up as it flushs red. The nerve! Do something about it... I will! "I don't think you have any right to make that observation, especially in front of me!" Rukia takes a step towards Fuuraiken, and swings her shopping back forcefully. She hits him with it dead in the face, knocking him over. "Anyways, shall we continue?" she asks, stomping towards the store.

So... cruel... - said Fuuraiken as he laid on the ground, reaching his hand upwards. Several seconds later, he disappeared into thin air. Oh? Taicho, wait up! Matsumoto dashed to catch up with Toushiro but switched to walking once she reached Rukia. Neh, Rukia-chan, what kind of mission were you two on? It seems strange that taicho would bring a girl with him, especially since he left me behind... - she pouted. I swear, of all the places she could be, and should be, at she had to be here... and you're only making it worse! Eh, lighten up, Shiro. Learn to have some fun. Matsumoto-san may be annoying, but she's only trying to cheer you up. You're so gloomy all the time. How do you expect anybody to like you when you're like this? I don't. And I'm not trying to make anybody like me! Oh really? Well, I have nothing to talk to you about then. Just as Toushiro thought he could have a little peace and quiet, his lieutenant appeared beside him, and whispered to him: So, you really like that girl, don't you, taicho? Matsumoto, this is getting old. I don't like her. Of course you don't. Well, if you need any advice, you know where to find me, - she winks and prepares to leave, but Hitsugaya grabs her arm. Actually, I don't know. I thought I could find you in the 10th squad office, but then I stumble into you here. What are you doing, Matsumoto? I left you responsible for the squad. If it turns out to be a mess, you are going to be held responsible, and the consequences could be dire. Taicho... ah, thanks for your concern, taicho, but everything is being taken care of! Well, ja ne! She walks out of the shop and up to a man who was loaded with all sorts of bags. Then they both leave. I was wondering why she didn't have any bags...

Rukia was about to explain the mission, using it to chew Matsumoto out. But Toushiro spoke up first, and she left soon after. "Bye Matsumoto Fuku Taicho." she turns to Toushiro, "I wonder who is running your office? Well if it's someone from your squad, I'm sure that they can handle it well." She walks up to some clothes that look like they are rather loose fitting and comfortable. She picks up some blue cargo shorts, "How about these? I think loose, casual look would fit you. And maybe help you relax." Trying to dress him and he isn't even yours. Sly girl.

I'm not so sure... He wasn't listening to Rukia when she suggested some clothes. Instead, he was thinking about Matsumoto. She was always so cheerful, around him or not. He has seen her in battle though, when she showed her other face. She was a fearless and skillful fighter. And she was, in reality, quite smart. She was also a shinigami for longer than he lived. What did she really think of him? Wasn't all of her friendly behavior just a mask because he was of a higher rank? He had hoped not. But would he be able to genuinely respect someone who was so much younger, yet more skilled? He would, probably, but Matsumoto wasn't him. Uh... yeah, you're probably right... Maybe I shouldn't worry about it. Matsumoto is- Come on now. You think about it almost every time you see her. She likes you! Er, like a little brother or something. I bet your treatment is much better than the one she received from the previous captain. You're probably right. Course I am! Now get back to business! Business? Wooing Rukia. Oh... shut up. So, uh... should I try these on or something?

"If you want too, I think they'd be just fine. But if you want to check how you look in them, go ahead." she says shaking her head. "You sure think alot, you shouldn't make it obvious by having that glazed over look you get. Oh how convenient," she finds a white t-shirt with stylized blue lightning spread over it. "It goes with your zanpukuto, sort of." She hands him the shirt and shorts and starts looking through some other stuff. I wonder what he really thinks about his vice captain. I hear she's a good fighter though. Feel challenged? Nani? Are you feeling threaten by there relationship? No, don't be siily. Maybe your the one with the one tracked mind? You were looking at Fuuraiken pretty hard. Shut up! Shirayuki shouts blushing a bit.

Hm... I hate shorts, - Toushiro thought as he put the article of clothing in place. Why? Who knows... I just do. Huh... I wonder though... What is it? I wonder if Sode no Shirayuki is a hottie... Oh, shut up. He thought that Rukia's taste in clothing wasn't bad, but... But what? I wish this shopping ordeal would come to an end. This isn't exactly... far from what I had in mind. Oh? And what did you have in mind? No, don't tell me... I heard there is some kind of funfair going on close by... was that it? Um... well, yeah. Hm, you might not be as clueless as I thought you were. Gee, thanks. Well, I guess I'll take these, - he said, handing the clerk the t-shirt Rukia suggested, a pair of dark blue jeans and silver sneakers. After receiving his bag, he goes to the changing room and puts on his newly purchased clothes. Well, I guess it isn't so bad, - he says as he walks out, the bag with his shinigami uniform in hand. What do you think? - he asks Rukia. After hearing her reply, he says: So... wouldn't you... go change, too?

"Heh, guess you're not into shorts huh Toushiro-san." At least he got that shirt you picked out for him. She's about to say something else, when Toushiro goes to change. Hmm? I didn't mean change right now. He's trying to impress you... I guess so. Let's see what's up. She waits for him, and when he comes out she nods. "Isn't this nice for a change? And yes you look nice in your new cloths." She listens to his request for her to change. "Hmm, right now? I suppose. I'm guessing you have somewhere else to go in mind?" Someone's feeling butterflies. Hush, it's just odd. That's all. Mmhmm, just go change. Rukia nods, and goes to the bathroom to change. She decides to wear the dress he picked, so she won't offend him. She comes out of the bathroom, her uniform in her shopping bag. "I should've gotten some shoes," she says lifting a foot up and looking at it, "These don't go with the dress. So, how do I look?" A small amount of color forming on her cheeks, her slightly blushing.

Toushiro looked at Rukia in the yellow dress he picked, and though that... Well, I guess she isn't too bad... Oh, will you shut up?! He stutters when she asks him about how she looks. You look be... uh... very pretty... Oh come on, you're acting like a shy little girl! Shut up... what was I supposed to say? That she looks beautiful? That might- Say more than you're willing to? Whatever... but don't you agree she looks good in that dress? Well, not bad I guess. I guess the sandals really don't go well with the dress, so, we can go pick something out... um, let me take your bag, - before Rukia can protest, he grabs the bag she had her clothes in, quickly takes a scroll and a pen out of his bag, scribbles some symbols on it and then seals her and his own clothes bag into the scroll. He then smiles and says: This way, we don't have to worry about carrying them around. So, to the shoes store?

She blushes more at the compliment. He wanted to say something else, it would seem. Yea, he can be nice. Maybe he would make a good boyfriend... Really? Shirayuki asks smiling. I don't know, i'm just saying. He seems to be alright once you get to know him. "If you don't mind, sure let's go. I'll make this short. I'll just get something that can go well with my dresses in general. I don't need an exact match." Rukia grins inwardly, as she looks her money bag. Let's see if I can get him to do this. Shirayuki shakes her head. "Toushiro-san, seem as if I don't have enough money, will you by me some shoes? I'll get you back later, I promise."

Mwuhuhahahahahaha! O... k... shut up. Of course, - he smiles as they head to another shop. He glanced towards the sun, which was getting closer to the horizon and smiled. Everything is going according to plan... fu hu ha ha ha! Will you shut up? Never! ...

The two reach a shoe store, and it isn't too long before Rukia sees a couple of pairs of shoes she wants. Oh great, why did I only have to say one pair. You can always pay for a pair yourself. Then he'll know I was lying... Hey, your choice. You can always come back later. Kinda odd for a captian to be buying another shinigami shoes, this may start some gossip. Oh well, I'll be in Iwa. So I won't have to deal with it. She looks at the shoes that caught her interest, comparing the colors to her new dress as well as making sure they'll fit. "Hmm, yes these will be fine." she hands the box to Toushiro, "Thanks for helping me out by buying these."

It's no problem, really. After all, Matsumoto asks me to lend her some money almost every time she gets to shop, and that is quite often. And you never resist. You know how she is... if I don't, she will throw a dramatic act right in front of everybody who might be passing by. It isn't worth the trouble. Hm... something is fishy here though... What do you mean? It's hard to believe Rukia ran out of money already. Well, neither of us knows how much she had to begin with, so... That's just an excuse. She is playing you like a harmonica. Why? Because you are letting her! No, I mean, why a harmonica? Why something so unrefined? You are insulting me even as you speak ill of others. Why do I bother with you anyway? Because I'm awesome. Shut up. After buying the shoes Rukia picked, and waiting for her to put them on, Toushiro walks out of the shop to find the sun almost touching the horizon. Perfect, - he says quietly, and then turns towards the shinigami girl, - Neh, I hear there's a funfair going on close by... want to check it out, Rukia? He flinched as he realized his mistake. Er... sorry, I mean, Kuchiki?

She looks down at her shoes, shifting her feet around to get used to them. "These fit nicely, thanks again Toushiro-san." As they walk out of the store, she looks into the horizon. The day had turned out lovely, not a lovely as others she's seen but good enough. The shoes were a good pick, they already fit her nicely. I don't even think he knows why you did that. He'll learn soon enough. Though thinking about it, I guess he hasn't had many girlfriends. Or at least I assume so because his lack of leisure time. "Funfair? You actually want to go to a funfair?" Rukia chuckles, covering her mouth. Her hand clenchs together slightly, she was thinking about wacking him in the head for using her name so freely. Relax, me. It was a slip. Strange he would say that though. Even if he does like you, doing that takes guts. Rukia nods, relaxing her hand. "Let's go Toushiro-chan. We might as well end the day having some fun."

Wow... epic fail, mate. Shut up! I just called her by her first name, and it was by accident... Yeah, well, either way, now she's on to you. Toushiro raises an eyebrow when Rukia chuckles. What's wrong with me going to a funfair? You said it yourself that I need to learn how to have fun. Consider this me taking a lesson in that. He walks on ahead, disappointed by his mistake and Rukia's reaction. He froze in place when she said "Toushiro-chan" though. Heh, don't get your hopes up. She must have slipped, just like you. Yeah... you're probably right. Anyway, that's hardly the real reason you are going there, is it? What are we going to the funfair for anyway? I don't know, really. I just heard Hinamori was going to be there, and... Woah, hold your horses mate. You can't date two girls at the same time! Well, maybe you can, but not simultaneously. What are you talking about? Hinamori is just an old friend. You, of all people, should know that. Well, you know what people are saying about you two... And I don't really care.

Rukia points into the near distance, "I see the fair right there!" Boy Toushiro thinks alot, doesn't he? Maybe he's talking to his zanpukuto. Anyways, you called him 'chan' It does make him seem like he's off in his own world though. And I did? Oh... She " Gomensai, I ment to say Toushiro-san. I don't think we are familiar enough for me to call you what I just did. So, what are you thinking about? Not to be nosy, but you sure do seem to think alot." Rukia knew is wasn't really any of her business, she was just trying to make conversation. She didn't know what to talk about at the moment. It's alright, - he says in response to Rukia's apology, and then answers her question, - Nothing specific, really. Just... things. Things you said, things I said, things to do... discussing them with Fuuraiken, too, I guess. Now you sound lame. Eh, whatever. What's with the long face? Something get you down? I don't know. I just... don't feel interested in what is happening here and now anymore. Ah, I know what you mean. Rukia looked like more than she turned out to be? What? No, why do you always misinterpret things like that! I just... ah, it doesn't matter. You know, I was planning on coming here either way. I just happened to overhear back in Soul Society that there is going to be some sort of event around this time here, and was hoping to see some familiar faces in a non-formal situation, or something... He listens to Rukia say that she is hungry. Me, eh, not so much... but we can get something to eat if you want. I'm sure there are plenty of places to have a snack around.

"Familiar faces? Hmm," Rukia put a finger to her chin, trying to figure out who she'd like to see if anyone. "I dunno if there's anyone I'd want to see out of Soul Society." She hadn't seen Byakuya in a while, but she didn't think he'd be there or if it would even be a good idea. Not with Toushiro there. You've gotten admit me, he's kinda scary. Be greatful, just understand that his personality isn't appreciated by many others. Just don't get mad when people talk about him. Ok, anyways... Rukia starts look around at the various booths to see what there was to eat. "Don't know where to start, theres so much!" Rukia says, taking on the tone of a child at the fair.

Well, I'm not sure I actually want to see anyone specific. But the idea in general seems nice, don't you think? He watches Rukia as she looks at the different snack booths, being torn by the choices. In a way, she was a lot like Hinamori, but... Not obsessed with a certain megalomaniac? Hm, yeah, there is that, too. However, she was doing a lot better since he was taken care of. Not true. She is crazy. She tried to protect him even after getting stabbed, almost to death, by him. I bet she hasn't forgiven you for killing him, and it might take years before that will happen. Look, just shut up. That is in the past, and I certainly don't want to talk about it, especially now. The rational thing to do seems to be to have a little taste of everything, no?

"I suppose it would be interesting to run into someone. And weird, depending on who it is. I bet Matsumoto fuku taicho is around here somewhere." Rukia looks around once more. "But where to start?" How about the nearest stand? Well the one with a food in it you'd wanna try? "Yea, nearest booth makes sense. And what do we have here?" Rukia says, approching food stand. She couldn't tell what it was exactly, it was fried and battered up. That can't be good for our figure. Like you have to worry about that. Well I am a reflection of you, so you never know. I may just plump out. Rukia chuckles outloud, looking a bit odd for doing so without annoy saying anything. "My bad, just thought of something funny. Anyway, let's get some of this Toushiro-san." A large sweatdrop appears behind Rukia's head, "Heh, yea, I'll pass myself. It's amazing what they'll fry up." she turns around, looking for something else to try. "There's something simple, cotton candy." Blue? Isn't that a bit strange for cotton candy? Yea but it should be fine, it's just color. She waits for Toushiro before walking over to the cotton candy vendor. "I'll try not to eat too much of this, not like it's real food." She had cotton candy once before, but she was really young then. Now that she thinks about it, she hadn't been to a fair in about 8 years. Toushiro joined Rukia as she walked from one stand to another. You know, this thing can't be good for your health. God knows what it's made of, and this color doesn't speak good of it either. What, are you gonna play her daddy now? I'm just showing concern. This- Ah come on, don't be such a bore. A cotton candy never killed anyone. Also- hey, are you listening? Fuuraiken started complaining about how Hitsugaya never took his words seriously, but the boy's mind was preoccupied with something else. Hey, what are you looking- oh,no... He appeared beside Toushiro and started pulling on his sleeve. No, Shiro, don't do it! That's the den of evil! Stop! The jounin turned to him abruptly and said in an annoyed voice: What are you talking about? I just want to get some watermelon. No! Don't! That's just how he is, now what's he doing? Rukia looks at him heading for another stand. She shrugs and purchases herself some cotton candy before following him over to the fruit stand. "Fruit huh? I guess you really don't like sweets huh? That's alright, everyone has there own tastes." She looks towards the rides, wondering what was happening in Iwa. Good job looking out, but it'll be fine.
