Age System?Seriously, it would make sense since we can't stay like 12 or so and we know our characters age but by how much is the question. I honestly would love to see characters HAVING to retire since of age so other people can get through, if you know what I mean. Having something like this would be a hassle but honestly it makes since. We don't want a 12 year old higher ranking a like 17 year old on here and such, and we don't want people wanting to say they are older and such so yea.
Genin: 10 - 13
Chuunin: 14-17
Jounin: 18+
Kage: Preferably 20+
And through exams you age, even if you don't rank up to the next rank. It makes sense like that since just cause you don't rank doesn't mean you don't age. As well as we don't want to wait like 3 years to gain 3 years, but instead add a year every 6 months or so. Honestly aging characters might seem stupid but it does make sense as we don't want to have someone stay in a position till they are killed, we want them to like die of age or have to retiree if you know what I mean. I want at least 10 people to agree on this, including mods as, yes they know they need to age. xD

Basing age on rank to fix aging problems is contradictory to itself. So if two 12 year olds enter a chuunin exam and one of them passes, the other doesnt. Suddenly one is 14 while the other is still 12. Then that Chuunin becomes a Jounin while that genin misses the next Chuunin exams. So suddenly, the same aged characters are 6 years apart, just because of an exam or two.
I think it makes things worse. Only way to regulate age is every new chapter of the storyline, all characters age "x" years. That way aging is universal.

I make my characters history explain why he is age x. Most of the time, it is the age I am in RL

people can age their characters themselves. Though, the idea of having mods go through each character and changing the ages after an event does sound like fun. 
best way to look at it is naruto's age and wait, how many times did naruto fail at passing exams at start? Hmm, wasn't it three times or something though same age as sasuke, sakura and shikamaru....hmm
Well shikamaru got jounin by the time naruto was? genin still? I can't remember my memory is escaping me.

Considering we RP at different rates anyway. Some of us are in a topic for two weeks that spans a day. Some of us are in a 50 post topic of a fight that lasts 8 minutes. Some of us are in a topic that lasts three days but three weeks pass in it.
It's all relative.

Baka! Shikamaru was a Chuunin... ~_~ The only ones that got Jounin were Neji, Temari, and Kankuro.

I was liking what rorshach (sp?) said about time passing in intervals equal to x at the end of each arc, then I saw aj say that they already do that.
So, why not create a system that forces you to update your characters age based on that so we aren't working with just guesses?

cant wait till the next arc by the way...this war arc isnt all that great for my characters since they're only genin and don't have much of an impact...

not for nothing but it would seem only a select people are even allowed to try to make any difference. it seems as if you are taking part in something but all in all your character could have just posted once while the actual plot chars got the glory or w/e you wish to call it. because most people are till in the dark even about the slightest thing so they really are minor support chars i say hurry this along as it takes from most of the users time and efforts on advancing their characters. but dont get me wrong i am enjoying the arc i just think it could involve everyone a little more other than just a few people.

What are you talking about? Anyone can jump into the plot threads at anytime. Everyone is just sitting in the back sulking and complaining. If you want to join in, then join in, stop acting like everyone is taking a number and waiting for them to be called. If you sit there and wait for your character to be called out directly, then yes nothing will happen, if you get involved with action, then you can have fun.

i do kump in im saying how can you expect our genin to fight these people they know only a few jutsu and such so i feel that it could be keeping them down a bit ive seen people posting only to be pushed aside by the same characters over and over so of course people will complain

What are you talking about? The threads in most villages are private, while the others are in Kumogakure. Why would anyone go to Kumo without a good reason? Plus, genin aren't technically supposed to leave the village without other people. So, essentially everyone who isn't in Kumogakure or is of Jounin rank really has no IC reason to be a part of the plot right now.

still wondering why their are so many strangers in Kumo in the first place...Was their a posting i missed calling for aid or something, still odd for ninja from other villages to be all in the same place at the same time to interact with the same plot. Hell of a coincidence.
Plus this took a turn for the best (or worst depending on ur view), if all the villages went to war, then all ninja would have had a plot point. But it seemed to bring about peace, or temporary peace, idk what will happen.
Back to topic, age. Why make a requirement at all? Their is no central character, just age accordingly. If we brought about an age jump, then some characters would change tremendously. This can also be sampled from Naruto. The younger you are, the greater your change. Some of the older more experienced character might not change as much since they are set in their ways, but younger would.
If a requirement was made, then their should be an allowance for additions to characters. One cannot be a trainee then a master in a week. But one would no longer be a trainee in 2 years. Perhaps a system can be made, where certain ages get an auto skill(s) or rank or title from one of these age events. Obviously ages of 10-16 would be affected the most, ages 5-10 next, ages 16-20 third, then 21-25, 25-29,29-40 etc....and depending on the event at hand.
