When the wind howled, it sounded like it was calling his name. When the plains rippled, he thought he could feel the earth sigh. The world around him gave signs of life and he gave signs back. He tried, but he could never repay what he had stolen from the earth's soul. He could never pretend that he had given back enough, for he was not finished taking. Not until the day he died where he would lie and decompose, thus feeding himself back. Death was the judgement, crime and punishment.

He wondered about life often but rarely concluded anything. Sitting on this wind-swept plain, watching the sting of the vibrant blue sky, he wondered if this was the place for him. The sun was too bright, catching a joyful glint in his eyes every once in a while, despite his best efforts to cover his face. The wind whistled a joyful tune. He was perched on a small incline so that he could see a mile outward. He could see deer frolicking by a pond, bunting each other in preperation for mating season.

The world was swept up in a cycle but he, without purpose, remained stagnant.

Distance, the illusion that humans used to percieve a set location from anywhere and used to dictate "time" to that set location... if was really only a tiring factor of life. Kody walked in this "distance" towards nowhere. He was really just walking. Like a stroll, he had no set location in mind he just followed where his gut told him to go. Looking into trees he noticed a peculiar person standing in one. He hopped up and stood on a branch looking towards this stranger. He cocked an eyebrow at the man and thought of reasons why this person would be standing there like so.

Lost in his thought made there seem to be one of those dramatic silences that occured when two strangers met. "Who... are you?" he asked in a calm yet somewhat scared sounding tone. He hated introductions... it made him feel small... like he had nothing. Nobody knew him. However, he didn't know this man either. Maybe it was morel ike a mutual thing for most people, not knowing who anyone was... and nobody knowing who they themselves are... a questionable state of mind a meeting had put him in.

(OOC: lol I usually don't post in this kind of dark tone)

OOC: He wasn't in a tree. He was sitting on an incline on the ground. I'll fit it in though.

IC: " If I had to call myself something, I would say 'Yehoshua of Solitude.' But as I am myself, I do not need to define myself by such a short-coming label. Would you think something that you never chose, something that your parents assumed you would like would define you? That a simple world is supposed to encompass who you are? How this word will set your course in life? It's funny, I think. More questionable than anything else." He stood up, staring from his dark eyes through the thin glass that stood as a shield against their gazes.

Kody looked at this man... he didn't seem to enjoy names that much... but he put it in such a way that it seemed like a bad thing. "Such a label is not a bad thing. Merely a set of letters arranged in a way that people would be able to recognise the ones they know." he said. When did he know of such a way to talk. "I assume you don't really care about what they call me. So I will hold it for myself..." he added in. "Besides, you don't really look like a person that would want to know another." he shrugged. He sat on the branch he stood opon. He sighed and looked over at the sun. He almost felt as though it didn't exist with this man darkening up the mood.

"So... why do you sit out here in these open plains? Although I'm sure you could ask me such a thing yourself," he asked in a depressed kind of tone. This guy was going to give him depression...

OOC: These short posts are killing me...

IC: " It is true, names hold little meaning for me. There are better ways to learn who a person is. Ways that are not based on assumption or appearances." His gaze never moved from staring out into the plains; he seemed determined to find something in the vast, desolate grasslands.

" I'm watching the plains. They have such purpose in life. The grass, trees, animals, even the sun has a predestined course. They follow through their daily routines and enjoy it. I'm looking for purpose in this world, and I had hoped that these plains would hold it for me. It appears there is nothing to garner but the serene peace of nature, which it alone has its own rewards. It won't be long before I leave it and look in your village; there might be purpose for me there.

His hand pushed his glasses to the bridge of his nose, the only change in his statue-like appearance.

Kody looked back at the man. "So you are one who merely seeks purpose in life? A great stuggle... I'd suppose... I have not engaged in such a quest as I have not much felt need to do such a thing," he said. He shifted his gaze to a position before himself looking to try and see what this guy was now talking about. He wondered why he found such simple things to be so deep. Everything in nature was violent, if one was close enough to the sun, they would be killed in a burning flame. He sighed and shook his head.

IC: " Most people find their place in life without looking for it. Like yourself; you have become a shinobi," He pointed out the headband. " A shinobi has a specific code and structure of life. You have purpose already. You have missions and wars to protect your people. You train and learn jutsu, gain knowledge on your art. Your reasons for being a shinobi is your purpose. I tried becoming a shinobi. I have the physical capabilities but there is no drive; it is not my purpose in life to be a shinobi. I'm destined for something else and I will find it."

He laid back and stared into the sun. His eyes burned for a few seconds before the pupils became slits. " So beautiful yet so dangerous. Not unlike the rest of nature. Anything at a moment's notice could hurt us. This branch could break and we could fall."

He looked back at the other shinobi, unable to tell where his face was due to the sun-burnt spots on his retina. A smile crossed his face. " I suppose that sounds dark but I assure you, it is most peaceful to me. We give danger for personal serenity and pleasure every day. I think it is the most fair trade humans have the option to partake in."

When the man started talking all dark again, Kody looked at the branch they were on, a comical bead of sweat on his head. "I suppose that is true. Without danger there would be no risks, and without risks, shinobi would have no purpose, thereby leaving me without and a seeker like you... I wouldn't be able to handle such a tedious task as such, as I enjoy the excitement of combat, seeing new jutsus every day. It is always a fun time when you are engaged in friendly combat, real fights however, have a greater rush than friendly spars. Knowing that a mistake in tactic could cost you your life, or the life of a friend is very sharpening for the senses, no matter how dark that may seem," said, in a way that sounded like he knew what he was talking about. "However, if one were to make that mistake..." he stopped. He shook off a cold sensation in his spine.

"Listen to me talking all dark," he said laughing in a lightened mood hoping to brighten any mood this man may have had... although he wasn't sure if this man had much of what was to be considered 'mood'. Then again... he was jumping to the conclusion that this man was always dark... he confused himself now.

" Talking dark? No, you are mistaking the depth of the mind for utter darkness. You are thinking about who you are. That is good; it will help you some day, like it has helped me. If I did not look inside of myself I would be a shinobi like you; working hard but not truly happy. I'm getting closer... Every second, I purposefully stride towards my purpose in life. May it be that I change the world or destroy it, whether I die alone or with someone, I will walk the path that I am given.

" There are so many roads open but as I look down each I don't see myself at the end of them." He smiled again. " I've been called dark many times. I've also been called obedient and hard working. Our faces hold more than one image; each facet of our personalities can be garnered just by watching the twitches and shifts of our features."

He looked over to the other shinobi again. " I have learned enough from the plains. I am continuing my journey to Kohonagakure now. Will you be joining me? I would like a tour of the village, if possible. I can pay you in Ryo if necessary; I don't think you should have to waste your time for nothing."

Kody looked at the man again as he asked about a tour. "Sure why not? I don't need money because I do missions for that kind of thing. It brings in money to the village as well as me," he said. He smiled a bit and dropped down from the tree and landed well on the ground. He leaned against the tree. He said nothing else now, he waited for an answer. A bit of excitement as he may now make a friend. He had a strange habit of making wierd friends... like this one lady who ended up putting him near a lady who almost killed him with a genjutsu. Just wierd.. of course, there was always the hokage... wait... oh yeah...still strange in a way. He sighed.
