The Last Step into the Mist - Katsuga and Myself

IC: The steps crunched slowly on the rocks that covered the damp earth. Water slowly rised to the edge of the feet and back. The curl of the pure spray left white specks of salt on the black shoes. There was only her and the sound of the tides drifting back and forth. The mist eluded all sight, all confusion, all weariness. It left her mind clear and her face chilled.

The small inlet sloped upwards to the higher grounded forest. The water was surrounded by giant rocks in a circular save for this tiny beach, barely thirty meters across and ten deep. It was the final step until the battle came. She would train here until Katsuga came. There was no doubt in her crystallized thoughts that he would be here soon. She had little time to finish her what was left. She could not hope to defeat him in her condition without the proper techniques.

She drew a long scroll from within her jacket. Within it contained the jutsu which she was to learn. She skimmed through until she came upon the easiest. She rolled it back up and slipped it into her jacket. She turned to the water and dropped down low. Her hand reached out with a small container. It made small glubbing noises as it was filled by the undrinkable water.

She drew it back and slid it into her arm strap and unconciously moved upwards along the beach. Her hands danced through several seals before she yelled out, " Water Shield Jutsu!" In a mere second the water exploded outwards and in front of her. The shield seemed to be wavering, barely holding up. She frowned and quickly ran through the hand signs for Water Clone Jutsu. The copied Syra stood before her staring blankly and waiting for instruction.

" Attack me," Syra said and waved her arm to emphasize the weak shield. The clone nodded and withdrew several shuriken. She tossed them with perfect aim into the shield. It held up for the first but the second only slowed down through it. The shield burst completely on the third shuriken and the last plunged deeply into Syra's chest. She grunted in pain before pulling it out. She went back to the water and collected more water. She went back to the same spot. Her hands mimicked the seals and another shield was in place. This one seemed to be an improvement; however eyes would not be the judge of this. She nodded to her clone and waited for the attack. Five shuriken were thrown this time. The first three were completely repelled; the fourth seemed to shatter the encasing. The fifth slit her side; the weapon glanced off the side leaving minimal damage.

This process went long into the hour; water running deep into the sands, followed closely by the heavy drops of blood seeping downwards to Hell. Time after time and the shield grew stronger until it managed to withstand attacks by the Vorcrist. She smiled softly and laid for a moment after mastering this jutsu. She was in pain from the many wounds, but she could not quit. Time was of the essence and she was almost empty.

IC: She laid quietly for several moments before heaving out the pent-up stress. The waves beneath her rocked her back and forth, lulling her into a false security. Her ears were drowned out by the water splashing periodically in. From this position she could see the sky; it was overcast and barely visible through the fog. Only a bit of the bright grey light seemed to push past through the thick fog; it made the world seem dreary and surreal.

She rose to her feet, dripping with water. It was time to attempt the jutsu again. She had been training for some time with the water weights. She clasped her hands and twisted them into familar patterns. The water dripping off her legs and arms seemed to solidify and take shape. The clasped heavily around her limbs, slowing her movement. She punched forward at the newly made water clones, and tried to draw back afterwards. Her movements were too slow, though; her body was splashed by the liquid eruption of the clone.

She lifted her leg and whipped it sidways for a powerful side-kick; this time the clone was able to dodge. She punched foward after her leg dropped and she was in position. The clone side-stepped and threw a counter-attack. The punch came fast, too fast for the weighted Syra. The fist crunched into her face with a sickening thud. She went spinning and she quickly revised the situation. Her arm shot downwards to implant on the 'ground'. She spun about and threw her leg into a snap in the head. The clone was surprised and could not change momentum so quickly. The head burst and Syra was left alone. This was not good enough; she was not fast enough. Her body was fatigued from the trial of carrying such weight when attacking. Her whole body spasmed as she fell into the accepting water.

A fierce growl escaped her lips. She climbed to the highest peak; above her body and fatigue to the final step of the mind. She stood, hands and legs at ready stances despite the incredible load. Her back straightened from the arch to the pole. Her eyes simmered as she stared ferociously into the ocean. Her hands went into a blinding speed. Several clones stood before her at attention. A moment passed with silent mouths, only broken by the cold lapping waves. Syra hollered barbarically again and sped foward. Her frame spun about at unprecedented speed. Her attacks blasted through all the clones in a matter of seconds. The single droplets where all that remained from the unseen fight. The final droplets in the charade.

IC: The water stood placid from the calmed waves. All the world seemed still; a statue for a God to appreciate. Syra herself stood perfectly still. Her eye lids closed and her breathing stopped. The only movement was the pounding of her heart. The sound echoed throughout her body and crashed into her ears. The drumming continued as she drew in breath once more. The chakra welled up within her mouth. The trickle of synthetic water tickled her throat as it slid down. She opened her mouth and blasted out the 'gunshot' of water. It shot out merely to lob upwards and fall downwards into the depths.

Her eyes remained closed as she recieved this information. She did nothing until the rippling beneath her halted. She welled up the chakra once more, pushing it upwards to her mouth and forming it. The inside grew wetter with the foreign liquid. A quick snapping of the jaw and the gunshot was released into the air. It moved with an intensity through the air for fifty feet before veering into the water and splashing into nothing. It had been released straight forward yet managed to blast off the other way in a 30 degree angle. Syra sighed mentally before attempting the jutsu once more. Hour after hour had been spent training and it was this jutsu that was mastered in the shortest period of time; a mere twenty minutes.

IC: Time spent, time lost. How much time had she wasted in her short life? How much time would she waste? She pushed these echoing thoughts to the side before many more came to pass. She had to focus on her training, not on her doubts.

Her steps were light as she walked off the glassy surface onto the coarse white sand. Her eyes darted around until her gaze caught the sight of a cliff. The stone behemoth stoof as a silent guardian, overhanging the see and watching over the water that slapped into it. The water splashed upward in the front and rolled offward, unable to penetrate the great defences of the cliff. This would be the last spot; the final step in the training.

She darted up the waterfront slope and on to the grandeur stone pathway. She walked towards the edge and peered out into the interminable ocean. It gave way to the end of the world but the edge of everything else. Past sanity, reality, the pain of death and war lay the sun and the water merging as one. The ocean which went on forever, the life that continued on. She climbed off her knees and dusted them off. The scroll was pulled out for the last time; skimmed over for the final look. She came upon the desired information and returned it into her jacket.

She stepped back and spun her leg slowly in a 360 degree circle. A soft glowing light appeared where her leg was last as if dust was falling off her skin. She pulled herself standing once more, looking out into the ocean with a look of pure concentration on her face. The circle remained softly glowing, but growing quickly in intensity. The glow was unbearably bright as she leaped forward. Her body shot foward with impossible distance. She flew over the lapping waves, out towards her destiny. Her descent was slow but assured. She landed hard into the water. Her body was shocked into immobilization. Her mass started drifting into the depths. Her muscles quickly regained movement though and she burst out of the water into the sharp air. Her body still tingled slightly but it was little compared to her excitement.

She treaded the water slowly and spun about to catch the image of the cliff in the horizon. Barely visible and little more than a speck on the horizon she realized that she had blasted into a distance of hundreds of feet. She began spinning her leg once, contemplating how she would attempt the jutsu again once she returned from her flight.

OOC: No problem! This is it! Time to settle an old score, Syra-san, heh-heh.... ^_^

IC: Katsuga was on his way to get ready for the upcoming Chuunin because he was assigned to be a Proctor for it, even though he didn't have to be there in person, he still would've liked to have seen what all would happen there, and the reaction to some of the Genin for seeing an Uchiha for the first time, but he's suddenly stopped when he starts passing by someone that he knows well, but hasn't seen her in a very long time, primarilly after she came back to Kirigakure no Sato after she had left to go to Otogakure no Sato. Seeing her, seeing how much she's grown up from the alotted time, he just smirks some, seeing that she's training herself, learning new and powerful Jutsus, which he doesn't mind, but he still knows her secret about her leaving the Village when she was only a Genin, without the permission of the Mizukage, nor without a Jounin with her, so he can't really let this go. But, after hearing that she's in line for the title of Mizukage, as well as himself and a couple others, he knows that he'll have to fight her in order to take that position, and is fairly certain that, if she does take the title, that Kirigakure will not last very long under her leadership, so he just casually walks down to where she's at, knowing that she's probably noticed his presence by now, then stops when he gets about thirty feet away from her.

Well, well, well, this is quite a surprise. How has life been treating you, Syra-san? It's been quite a while, hasn't it?

Not drawing out any of his weapons, not trying to perform any Jutsus, and not even activating his Sharingan Eyes, he just stands there with his arms folded over his chest, watching her very closely, making sure she doesn't get any kind of jump on him. He's well prepared to fight to the death, if need be, but doesn't really want to kill her, even though she's technically a Missing-Nin, but because no one else really knows about it, he just MAY let her live to see another day.

The voice rang with clear in her mind. The tide ran in with washed-up memories of the past. She pushed these back quickly and with suprising ease. Her mind seemed clearer, more crystallized than before. Her body remained a statue against the wind which had suddenly began to blow from the ocean unseen. Her eyes stared deep into the ocean's surface and past, through to the opaque bottom.
The water lapped against her soaken black shoes but she paid no heed. Nature did not deserve a calling on this day.

Her mind grew sharper; so did her hearing and feeling grow as well. Every movement and sound made echoed loudly to her body. Everything felt more defined and real. Danger signs appeared all around her. Even the hair on her neck stood on end. Her training had not been for naught; she was ready.

" Life does not give me treats; I take what I can get with my own opportunities, Katsuga," She said calmly yet firmly. She emphasize his inferiority with the declaration of his first name. " Time seems to climb when you have too much and dive when you have too little."

Respect forced her to turn around and properly face him. He was an opponent and an honourable one, or at least that was once true. Her gaze locked onto his as she scoured his face for the information she saught dearly. Her hopes faltered quickly as what she feared was true. His wisdom had not grown like she had hoped for him; he would not be able to lead properly. It was imperative for her to defeat him now; combat was the only option. He was not fit to be Mizukage and Syra had to see to it herself that he would not succeed. Before she truly readied for combat she spoke.

" Katsuga, know that the Mist is my destiny and will take me where I must go. Destiny does not wait on any man and does not allow man to change it. I am a part of the Mist and I can not leave it now. Not you, nor anyone, can stop the the Mist from growing. Accept it; step down from this. We can both leave in peace."

She already knew what answer to expect so after her short entry she added, " If you do intend on keeping your dream then end this here. The only request I make of you is not to attack my lower stomach. As a man with honour I would hope that you could at least accomadate that single request. If you can't be assured that I will not hesitate to strike you down, no matter the cost to myself." She let the last livid threat overhang for a few moments before returning to her calm demeanour.

OOC: This is going to take a while.....

IC: Katsuga smiles some, then chuckles at her remarks to him, unfolds his arms from across his chest, then puts his right hand in his right pocket, then places his left hand on the hilt of his sword, gripping it lightly, but doesn't pull it out just yet, just stands there for now, and doesn't make any other kind of movements. He does, however, nod his head to her in acknowledgment of her stomach being a "no hit zone".

I understand, and I will abide by it, Syra. But, you say that Kirigakure is your Destiny? You say this because I wasn't born here like you? You know nothing of my past, so don't even say such a thing. As far as stepping down, I'm going to have to decline it.... You may not believe me, but I feel that I can lead Kirigakure into a good direction in life, one without war to be fought within it, one where everyone can live as equals, regardless of Shinobi Rank or title. If I become the next Mizukage, and you can decline this if you wish to, I'll make you one of the Sannin from this prestigious Village. How does that sound? I really don't wish to fight you, Syra, but I will if I must. From what I understand, fighting, and defeating, you in battle will take me one step closer to becoming the next Kage. Also, if I become Kage, I won't punish, or brand, you as a Missing-Nin from the Village, and I won't mention it to any other Shinobi or Villagers of the Village.

Keeping his left hand on the hilt of his sword as he talks to her, he says what he means, and means what he says, but is fairly certain that she doesn't believe a word he's telling her, which means that they're probably going to have to battle anyway. Closing his eyes slowly, but keeping his other senses on high alert, so she doesn't catch him off guard of anything, he's fully aware of his surroundings, and automatically changes his eyes, thus activating his newly-acquired Sharingan Eye Level Three, ready to open his eyes up and use his Eyes against her, showing her how much power he's attained since the last time they saw each other, as well as, how much he's grown over the years. Though he may not see her actually perform any of her Jutsus, he'll be able to sense her Chakra forming up, which will tell him that she's about to perform a Jutsu of some kind, in which then, or if she tries to attack him in another way, he'll open his eyes up, showing his Sharingan Eyes at their Level Three form.

Syra closed her eyes and let the hum of her breath roll over her. She edged her hand to her back, towards the blade that was sheathed on her back. She clasped the handle lightly and felt the drain of her chakra. The blade grew light and wonderful in her hands as any true weapon should. She opened her eyes once more to pierce the blue orbs into Katsuga's dark.

" Close Katsuga but not quite. I judge you merely on yourself as a person. Howevever I still can not accept your invititaion. I believe you are unfit for this village that is why I can not allow you to become the Mizukage. I do not say this out of vengeance, hate, nor envy of you. You are incapable of being as skilled a Mizukage as I and that's all. Take it nought as personal but this must be done."

She whipped out her blade and held it at the proper arm's length. Time creeped by slowly as she awaited his attack. She tightened her muscles and readied for a quick dodge. She was limiting herself with her blade from using handsigns but her bloodline was ready for release. She knew that avoiding the use of it would be impossible but she intended on holding it back for as long as possible.
