Tamotsu has begun the long trek back to Iwagakure where he left Yasuo in charge. He knew the country would be okay so long as the Tsuchikage worried more about rebuilding then war. He wasn't sure if the Kage had gone to war yet but he had the distinct feeling that it was coming soon. As he walked through the woods, taking a back path away from the normal one where his house was hidden, he sighed as he missed the company of his wolf. He could almost hear the wolf barking at him, telling him to cheer up. But without the real bark resonating in his ear, he couldn't feel the love he once did. The night sky began to fall on him and then he sighed. It was almost time to take refuge somewhere and he didn't want to return to his cabin.

He walked forward some more and then stopped when he noticed strange lines in the ground. Something about them seemed to be so perfectly placed. His heart jumped as he sensed someone around but before he could move several ninja appeared around him. They seemed like nobodies he would take easily but it was the man that was with them that made him feel scared.

"Kage..." He spoke softly as the man he almost killed him smiled and bowed.

"Clearly I have had an effect on you. Which is exactly what I wanted I intended to do." He smiled as he walked forward and then Tamotsu felt his body move forward.

"Shit.... since when did he catch me and I didn't notice? The... lines!" He said as his mind realized it was a genjutsu but it was too late.

"You have been a thorn in my side from the beginning. Seeing progress from a child till now was problematic. Your father couldn't help us achieve out goals. But now, with no one here to protect you, we can easily finish it." Kage laughed.

"What exactly do you hope to accomplish by killing me and the others?" Tamotsu said as Kage looked at him.

"I plan to use your demonic chakra to revive Hikari and Yami. And with those two I can be unstoppable. And destroy every major country and revive the Land of the Lilies. But more importantly...." Kage's smile grew wider. "... unlock the Rinnengan."

"Impossible!" Tamotsu's eye grew large as a ninja game in with a katana and then took a stance.

"Kill him. Stab him where his heart was once." Kage laughed as the ninja lunged at him with full speed his blade poised to kill.

Tamotsu tried to break out of the Shadow Hold but the man was much stronger then Tamotsu though. He was helpless this time. He closed his eyes until he heard the blade pierce through something. A loud cry broke his silence as he opened his eyes and saw a large wolf lying on the floor beside him. A katana was protruding from his side and he was bleeding heavily.

"Ja.... ken....?" Tamotsu shook standing still as Kage looked at the large wolf and then laughed.

"One to the slaughter. That beast protected something that never loved it back." Kage laughed again.

Tamotsu shook and looked at Kage. "Shut up! Shut up! You don't know anything!" He roared as his chakra began to rise. He wanted to run to the wolf to try and save him but Kage reamplified the jutsu.

"Watch Tamotsu. Watch as he dies. Your companion." Kage smiled as Tamotsu's heart felt like shattering as he watched the wolf taking deep empty breaths and then finally stopped breathing all together.

"Ja.... ken...." Tamotsu said as the wolf did not return his call. "Jaken." He cried. Still no answer. Tamotsu's eyes filled with tears as he roared. "JAKEN!" His chakra exploded and Kage's jutsu broke. Tamotsu fell to his knees and then Kage spoke.

"This is the price all men pay. The one that cannot be eluded forever. I believe your will to fight is gone. I will collect your soul another day. Till then, remember, monsters cannot love. Especially you, Inuzuka Tamotsu." Kage said as he and the men disappeared.

Tamotsu stood frozen looking at the floor and then raised his head to the wolf's body. He crawled on his knees over to it and then pulled out the sword from it. He looked at the wolf's dead body and lifted it up, holding it to himself. And with one visceral yell, he mourned.

Part Two...

Seiko had been walking around the woods when he noticed the odd shift in time. As he walked along the woods, he heard a loud yell and knew who it belonged to. His heart jumped and then he ran towards the direction of the voice. His feet hit the floor hard as every step felt like time was slowing down around him. His foot hit a puddle of water and he could feel the world around him feeling as if collapsing. He came into the clearing where he could see Tamotsu's back and the ground beneath him covered in blood. His eyes shot open as he walked slowly towards the wolf master and smelt the blood. It wasn't humans.

"Tamotsu..." He spoke softly.

"I.... couldn't do.... anything." Tamotsu's voice broke.

"Do what?" Seiko stopped short.

"Save him...." Tamotsu said as bobbing back and forth holding something Seiko couldn't see in the dark.

"Save.... who, Tamotsu?" Seiko took a step forward as he could see a tail belonging to an animal. "Oh.... Tamotsu..."

Tamotsu looked up, his eyes filled with tears, his cheek filled with blood. "I.... watched him.... die..." He looked back at the wolf and held him tighter as he cried.

Seiko watched silently as he walked up to him and squatted down and put a hand on his shoulder. For the first time in years, he saw his friend shattered. He could see the scene of a young Tamotsu standing over his mother's grave looking down crying as if he were a man, unable to show his true self. The scene disappeared as he looked at the 21 year old clutching his now dead companion.

"He'll.... be okay.... right.... Seiko?" Tamotsu's voice sounded like a child pleading.

"Tamotsu...." Seiko said as he held him to him and sighed.

"He's.... just sleeping.... right?" Tamotsu trembled not wanting to accept the truth.

"Please stop." Seiko pleased.

"He'll wake up.... for breakfast.... right?" Tamotsu asked, his voice shaking.

"Please!" Seiko began to tear.

"I can't.... be alone...." Tamotsu cried softly.

"Tamotsu..." Seiko said as he held him.

The night continued in silence as Seiko held his friend and Tamotsu held his wolf. Hours later, Tamotsu would stand up, lifting the dead wolf from the floor and carried it off towards the nearby mountain village. He would mourn in proper as the wolves howled for the death of the King Of Wolves.
