Hideo

Hideo looked at the gate that led into the forest of death with Ryouken standing beside him. The small dog trembled just from the intensity it felt coming from the forest. Hideo was frightened to go in as well, he had heard many rumors around the village about the things that happened inside the forest. He had heard about serial killers, giant snakes, bingo book criminals, tigers, and much more. Now was the moment of truth though. Once he stepped into this forest he decided there would be no turning back. He looked over and skimmed through a warning sign on the fence. The list of dangers inside the forest seemed pretty long. Hideo was determined to get stronger though. He wouldn't let a stupid forest stop him from being the best of the best. He looked down to Ryouken who's legs were still a bit shaky. He gave the small dog a warm smile that seemed to say, "Don't worry it'll be alright." Immediately the dog stood straight up and barked loudly signifying that he was just as ready as his master. Hideo nodded and grabbed Ryouken and hopped over the fence.

As they entered this dangerous new environment the first noticeable difference was how much darker it had gotten. Before they entered it was near dusk but now the forest had quickly turned almost pitch black. As Hideo looked up he didn't see the usual blue sky but instead a thick canopy of trees standing a hundred feet tall with unnaturally thick roots and branches growing. Hideo decided to use the ground as the method of transportation rather than his usual tree hopping, and instead of running he walked at a leisurely pace taking in his surroundings and looking out for anything that may seem dangerous. Ryouken stayed closely behind and also looking out for trouble. Several weird sound could be heard coming from almost every direction in the forest. FRom atop the enormous trees Hideo could also here birds but they didn't seem like regular chirping kind. These were more ferocious carnivorous kind. He was glad he avoided the trees. As they continued to make their way through the forest the Inuzula boy could feel the ground shake and hear something coming from his right.

Hideo turned to see two giant centipedes, and he seriously doubted they were vegetarians. They both lunged forward with huge pincers. Hideo simply looked over to Ryouken and gave him a nod. The dog nodded in return. They both jumped back and leaped into the air. Hideo went through a series of handsigns with Ryouken beside him mid-air. It seemed like he finished the seals but instead he continued going. Hideo then held his hand out infront of his face and blow a massive blast of air at the creatures. The attack wasn't over yet though. Ryouken then let out a several blasts of fire that burst into a massive blast of flames when they came into contact with Hideo's jutsu. The two centipedes were set ablaze and fell to the ground. They continued to burn for a while. When the flames finally did die out all that was left were two black centipede bodies. "Good job, buddy." Hideo complimented his companion as they continued their way through.

Later on that night they had found a good place near a waterfall that continued on into a river. They had lit a fire and ate some food Hideo had brought along, the only food he brought. They both slept in small blankets near the campfire and had gone to bed. However later that night Hideo decided to get some training done. He tossed off all of his clothes until he was only wearing a pair of shorts. As he stepped into the cool water he could feel it send chills up and down his body. He ignored this feeling and got further and further into the water until he reached the waterfall. He climbed onto a rock under it but fell back of instantly. The rock seemed a bit slippery, but he quickly adjusted and sat under the waterfall for about five seconds before having to jump out. The water coming from the fall seemed to be colder than the rest, Hideo couldn't sit under the pressure of the waterfall and needed to jump out. Hideo continued with his waterfall training just about all night with no sleep at all. When the sun rose-which was hard tell due to the trees in the forest-Ryouken got up and found a soaked Hideo lying on the ground in nothing but his shorts.

A couple hours later a sleepy Hideo got up reluctantly and decided to get some form of food for breakfast. He got up and found a decent sized stick and began jabbing at the water with little patience to catch some fish. Of course the pointed stick never even came close to any of the fish. It was Ryouken who patiently waited for the right moment and punced on a small group of them easily catching three decent sized fish. Hideo decided he could probably learn something from his partner. Waiting patiently he saw a small fish pass by but decided to let the shrimp go. Suddenly his makeshift spear plunged into the water and impaled a large fish. Hideo grabbed his prize by the tail and held it up for all to see. Of course all to see was only Ryouken and himself. While the fish roasted over the fire Hideo changed back into his clothes and enjoyed a peaceful meal with his good friend.

(okay time to wrap it up)

After the two had finished their breakfast they decided it was time to get the hell out of the forest. They originally came for training, but even someone as stubborn as Hideo could see how dangerous it was to stay in that place. As Hideo began to pack up all of their gear he could hear something large coming from the distance. Turning to the direction the sounds were coming from Hideo turned to face this new foe. He decided to atleast get a little bit more training before leaving. Ryouken got into his fighting stance as he awaited this new oppnent as well. Strange looking birds flocked away from the trees where this probably huge creature was coming from. Hideo reach to the holsters at his sides and pulled out both of his Dragon's Tails weapons. A tree fell and a large cloud of dust filled the area. When it finally cleared all Hideo saw was a giant rat.

At first he was dumbfounded, wondering why there was a giant rat in the forest. Next he wanted to know why the hell everything in the Forest of Death was so huge, the trees, the bugs, the rats. Finally, he just fell over laughing. H was expecting some kind of giant bear or new creature to be his opponent. Instead all he had was an overgrown rodent, he might as well go back to the village and have an exterminator take care of this for him. Although Hideo seemed to be laughing his head off, Ryouken stared at this creature with an icy glare. It seemed like Ryouken was the smarter of the two as he could clearly tell this thing wasn't the weakling Hideo thought it would be. Hideo stopped laughing when the creature let out a terrifying roar that caused the forest to shake. Hideo got back into his fighting stance with both of his weapons out in front of him. He used his hands to make a motion that said, "Bring it on!"

The creature easily stood at about 30 to 35 feet tall, giving it a major height advantage. As it charge Hideo jumped up and tried to make a slice at its face. The rodent simply pulled it's head back and sent the genin boy straight to the ground, he hit and skidded on his back until he hit the water. He had dropped one of his weapons after taking the blow and his forehead and back was bleeding. Ryouken decided he would be the next one to take the thing on. As he ran at it the rat swung its tail horizontally, but the ninja dog jumped over it then lodged his teeth into the tail. The rat let out a horrendous screech and swung its powerful tail violently to get the dog loose. Ryouken managed to hang on for a while, but with onelast swing the rat sent the pup flying off out of view into the forest. "Ryouken!" Called out the genin as he got up and tried to run off in the direction the dog flew, picking u his weapon as he went. He attempted to run past the rat but it smacked him in the gut with its tail and sent him flying into the forest too.

Hideo woke up on an enormous branch on a tree. His head was killing him and like before he couldn't tell what time it was because of the trees. He had no idea how long he had been knocked out either. It took him a while but when he finally did remember what happened to him he began to call out for his partner. "Ryouken! Are you okay?!" There was no answer. He had no idea where his dog was. He then forced some chakra into his nose and began to sniff at the air. The smell was faint, but he could certainly find the dog if he followed the scent. If Hideo had to guess, Ryouken wasn't too far away. Hideo looked down over the branch to see how far he was from the ground. He could easily walk down the tree using Kinobori but decided to stick with the trees. The plan now was to find his friend as fast as possible and get out of this damn place. He jumped branch to branch on the high trees, being careful not to miss any step and possibly fall to his death.

Ryouken woke up and took in his surroundings bit by bit. There was no doubt that he was lost. Like Hideo though, he could smell where his master was. Ryouken was lying down under of the forest of death's famous overgrown trees. Ryouken sniffed around a bit and suspected he wasn't very far from Hideo. As the dog tried to stand to its feet he began to wobble a bit. That hit from the tail obviously had a big effect on him. Ignoring the shakiness of his legs Ryouken traveled in Hideo's direction at a steady pace. As Ryouken got closer he could notice Hideo's scent get stronger at a faster pace than it should have. The black and white pup could tell that his master was looking for him as well. After about fifteen more minutes of traveling Ryoken began running when he saw the Inuzuka boy in his mostly black clothing. He jumped into his arms and licked his face while Hideo laughed.

Hideo carried ryouken through the tree tops for the rest of the way out of the forest. Good thing Hideo and Ryouken had such good noses or they might have never found each other. Now that stronger sense was about to come in handy again while they found their way back to the exit of this hellhole. Like originally planned, it was a great training ground for getting stronger and catching up to his rival. Maybe Hideo was in over his head, or just wanted to prove something, or he could have been just plain stupid. In the distance ahead of them Hideo could clearly see a little bit of sunshine making its way through the trees. He ran down the side of the tree with the tree walking technique to get back on ground level. As Hideo finally took his first few steps out into the sunlight he saw that it was sometime around sunset. That rat had knocked him out just about all day, which explained his extreme hunger. Now it was time to go back to the village for well deserved rest.
