Personality: Ryou is quite friendly once engaged in conversation he is, however, quite shy so getting to that point may take a while. Beyond this he has very little self confidence and what little he does have is easily damaged. He is rather afraid of disappointing people so he often finds himself obeying orders or requests that inconvenience him in order to please others. Beyond this though he is fairly intelligent with a good mind for, and great love of, riddles. He is also prone to talking fairly rapidly, sometimes to the extent that he trips over his words and often to the extent that others have to ask him to slow down. He is quite protective of his friends and family, preferring to put himself in harm's way rather than them and becoming rapidly enraged should he hear someone speaking ill of them.

Description: Kawarimi no Jutsu is a basic Ninjutsu technique. When in danger the ninja will quickly substitute themself with another nearby object. This can be a block of wood or even another person. This allows the ninja to quickly flee and hide while the original object takes the brunt of their opponents attack. Naturally, it won't work with another person unless their skill gap is enormous, and the object to replace oneself with must be close in size and weight to the ninja themselves. This technique must be set up a little ahead when fighting skilled opponents, otherwise, you may end up getting struck because you wouldn't have enough time to use it.

Description: Henge no Jutsu is a ninjutsu technique which every ninja learns at the Ninja Academy. Henge allows the ninja to transform themselves into any person or object. This allows the ninja to move with stealth or to trick their opponents. However, it does not grant one the properties of said objects or skills of that person, meaning turning into a weapon will not allow you to cut an opponent and turning into a dog will not give you a great sense of smell.
This technique can also be used in conjunction with someone, who may a person, a pet or a summoning creature, in which case it is called Konbi Henge (Combination Transformation). However, its principles remain the same.

Background: Ryou's childhood was fairly unremarkable, he played, learned, trained. All the things that an average ninja child would do. He was bullied a little because of his small frame but nothing intolerable. Although it did leave him with a strong dislike for anyone using their greater size or power as an excuse to mistreat people and an inherent distrust of unusually large people. He spent a lot of time wandering the countryside surrounding the village regardless of the weather or his parents' protests that he should be devoting more time to his studies. While wandering one day he came across a small, injured deer foal. He brought the creature home and tended to it, relishing the feeling he got of being appreciated for what he was doing. This, more than anything else, motivated him into improving his abilities as a ninja so that, one day, he might become a powerful medical ninja, able to help those in need. As such he focussed on improving chakra control and the like rather than training his body. He was introduced to the ninja life through his mother, who had been a ninja previously although she had been injured on a mission and forced into retirement. She still, however, helped to educate academy students from time to time and was quite vehement about Ryou following in her footsteps. His father on the other hand was more laid back about what he wanted to do. His father, Masato, was a writer by trade from whom Ryou inherited a love of reading. This profession was a little unreliable however so he often had to seek other sources of employment.
