Bunshin no Jutsu [Clone Technique]

Description: This technique must be mastered by any ninja who has graduated from the shinobi academy. It's the most basic technique a Gennin must know, since it can be a real lifesaver. This ninjutsu creates a simple illusion clone identical to the caster. The clone however has no physical properties and will disperse the moment it is touched.

Kawarimi no Jutsu [Body Switch Technique]

Description: Kawarimi is a widely used and very famous skill among shinobi. The user uses speed to their advantage, and grabs an item from the environment and places it on his/her current position while moving out of the way. This is clearly an evasion technique used to dodge attacks; however it can be linked with other jutsus or attacks to create massive damage if done properly.

Henge no Jutsu [Transformation Technique]

Description: Henge is the basic skill a ninja must know to become a Gennin. It's mostly used as a decoy, to confuse the opponent by transforming into somebody that's an ally with the enemy, and then attack from the back when he's not expecting it. This technique can easily be combined with other jutsus for a more powerful effect, such as with Kage Bunshin no Jutsu.

Taijutsu Style Gouken Ryuu - Strong Fist Style

Description: This taijutsu technique is utilized to get behind your opponent in mid-air. The user would usually kick their opponent upward from a low position, launching them into the air, and follow them using this jutsu. They will appear right behind the target, repeating their position like a shadow. From there, a number of attack options is presented to the user.

Name: Hayabusa Otoshi - Peregrine Falcon Drop

Description: A rather simple move that can only be used under certain conditions. The user will attempt to grab their opponent from behind while the latter are in the air and lock their ankles around their neck, restricting movement to a degree, while also grabbing them with their arms. They will then change position in the air so that the opponent is falling towards the ground head first. The point of this technique is to slam the enemy's head into the ground at a high speed. While quite deadly, this technique is hard to initiate and not that hard to break out of.

Description: This simple illusionary technique changes the appearance of a nearby object slightly, for example, it can make small objects invisible, change the text on something or make some object have slightly different shape. The object will regain its original appearance after the jutsu is released, dispelled or, in case it changed the shape or visibility of an object, touched on purpose.

Description: This genjutsu plays on the target's hidden or not so much fears. As such, it can differ greatly in particular effects, from showing them an important person in a dying state if that's what they fear, to making them think like they're standing on a small platform over an abyss if they are afraid of heights, to making them think there are hundreds of mice running around if they are afraid of the little animals. However, this technique is rather easy to defeat since it is quite obvious and will disperse if the target confronts the particular fear the illusion is played upon.

Description: This genjutsu's effects can be described as pretty close to those of truth serum and it is used in interrogation. The target must first be immobilized somehow, and then the ninja can use this technique by forming several hand seals and putting thier hand on the target's head. Ideally, this technique will confuse the target's mind and make them give away information when asked about it. However, this technique can be resisted without any special means, by willpower alone.

Description: Once the user forms the necessary hand seals the surroundings will start turning pitch black for their opponent. Once that is complete, the target will be transported to a completely black space where they will float. Soon afterwards, ghostly creatures will start appearing out of random places in this space and strangling, biting and otherwise hurting the one caught in this genjutsu. The user must keep focus for this genjutsu to last, so as soon as they drop the last hand seal for it, it will automatically disperse.


Name: Kasumi Juusha no Jutsu - Mist Servant Technique

Description: This genjutsu creates many illusionary clones of the user. A notable thing about these particular clones is that their clothes are always black, though they are the same as the original's otherwise. When attacked, these clones are disrupted but not dispelled, instead their shape may become quite inhuman in an attempt to restore the original form. This technique is used to confuse the enemy and conceal the user as they attack.

Description: After the user forms the required hand seals, thick bean vines will appear from the ground and bind the target, lifting them into the air as an added effect. A bean pod will then rise close by the captured target and reveal the user, giving them an opportunity to attack. It should be noted that while this is an illusion, any attack the user may execute after emerging from the bean pod is what they're actually doing in reality, so it is real in a way. Chakra-based attacks cannot be used while this genjutsu is active.

Name: Magen: Jigoku Gouka no Jutsu - Demonic Illusion: Hell Fire Technique

Description: This illusion makes the target believe that a huge fireball is falling from the sky. After it hits, the area is engulfed in intense flames and the target will feel like they're burning if they were unable to get away in time. This genjutsu can be used against a large number of opponents at the same time, but it is rather easy to overcome due to being rather basic.

Name: Magen: Jubaku Satsu - Demonic Illusion: Tree Binding Death

Description: After the user forms the necessary hand seals, their target will believe a large tree appeared behind them and that large branches have wrapped around their body, restricting their movement. The user will then approach the target, which will seem like they appeared from the same or another tree to the victim, and attack the captured opponent. While this is an illusion, the attack itself is real, since it mimics inside the illusion what is happening in reality. Chakra-based attacks cannot be used while this genjutsu is active.


Name: Magen: Kasegui no Jutsu - Demonic Illusion: Shackling Stakes

Description: A rather simple illusion, it will make the target believe that they were pierced by several large stakes, which nailed them to the ground. While it is quite painful, it does not bind the target completely, meaning they may still be capable of movement, though they can't change their location until the genjutsu is released or dispelled.

Name: Nehan Shouja no Jutsu - Temple of Nirvana Technique

Description: After the user forms the necessary hand seals, large white feathers will start falling in the surrounding area. This technique makes the victim fall asleep within a few seconds and can be used on many targets at once. Interestingly, one can resist the effects of this technique without any special skills, simply by forcing themselves to stay awake for the several seconds while the genjutsu is taking effect, though it is very hard and requires them to be rested. The slumber is not exactly natural and can only be interrupted the same way as you would dispel a genjutsu within ten minutes after the target falls asleep, but after that, they can be woken up normally.

Description: Without the need for any hand seals, the user will take a deep breath. By using a moderate amount of chakra and this special technique, they will then exhale a large cloud of poisonous gas. A very versatile technique, it can be more harmful than useful if not used correctly.

Name: Kage Shuriken no Jutsu - Shadow Shuriken Technique

Description: This is a simple ninjutsu used to disguise projectile attacks. The user will throw a shuriken or similar weapon at an enemy. However, they will secretly launch another same weapon right afterwards, so that the second weapon is hidden in the opponent's blind spot behind the first. A rather basic technique, it may catch even experienced shinobi off-guard.

Description: A very useful technique that dispels or prevents the effects of genjutsu in its early stages. To perform it, the user only needs to hold their hands in a tiger hand seal and channel some chakra into it. A lower-level genjutsu will be dispelled without any harm to the user. This can also be done on someone else, in which case the user must touch them before releasing the technique. However, it is a low-level ninja skill, as there are more effective ways of countering genjutsu. This will only dispel genjutsu of B-rank or below.

Description: This is a rather basic technique that does not require any hand seals to be used. Ideally, it temporarily paralyzes a number of targets. However, this is not likely to work on strong opponents, unless they are considerably weaker than the user themselves.

Name: Kawara Shuriken - Roof Tile Shuriken

Description: Named as such because of how it was first used, this technique actually turns any relatively small and light object around the user into a projectile weapon. The user must for a few required hand seals and then channel their chakra into a desired small object. Notably, the shinobi does not have to be touching the object, but the objects must be rather close and they need to be able to send their chakra through a solid surface, for example, into small rocks through the ground. These objects will then float up and be launched at a target like common shuriken.

Name: Meisai Gakure no Jutsu - Camouflage Concealment Technique

Description: An advanced ninjutsu that allows a shinobi to basically become invisible. It acts on the principle of a chameleon, making the user appear the same way as the background, except from any point of view. To execute this jutsu, the user must form the required hand seals and then press against any surface until the camouflage is applied. They can then walk around freely without fear of being seen, but can still be detected by other means. Special detection techniques may be able to expose the person using this.

Name: Oboro Bunshin no Jutsu - Haze Clone Technique

Description: A technique that seems to be a direct advancement of the usual Bunshin no Jutsu, it requires a few hand seals and creates dozens of clones of the user. Just like common clones, these are merely illusions, but they can easily be recreated if some are destroyed. Naturally, this jutsu's sole purpose is to confuse the enemy.

Name: Shunshin no Jutsu - Body Flicker Technique

Description: Shunshin no Jutsu is a basic Ninjutsu technique. The ninja will appear and disappear in an instant, allowing them to retreat or attack suddenly. To facilitate the movement the ninja will often use nearby elements such as mist, sand or leaves to mask their appearance or disappearance. While it may seem like the user simply appeared or disappeared, the technique is actually a momentary increase in movement speed towards a set location.

Name: Shuriken Kage Bunshin no Jutsu - Shuriken Shadow Clone Technique

Description: This technique is used to create additional projectile weapons. After throwing some shuriken or other weapons at the target, the user will quickly form the required hand seals. As they do that, the amount of weapons they threw will increase. The chakra usage of this technique is directly dependent on the amount of copies you create and the size of the actual weapons. The cloned weapons are real and can deal the same damage as the originals, except for weapons with special qualities the clones of which will be common ones. The weapon clones appear slightly displaced close by the original and follow the same trajectory.

Description: This earth element ninjutsu lets the user hide underground for extended periods of time. A shinobi using this technique can also move about, which may allow for an escape, surprise attack or something else. However, a skilled opponent may be able to detect the user by sound, vibrations or other, less conventional means.

Name: Doton: Doro Gaeshi - Mud Overturn

Description: A defensive ninjutsu that creates a rock wall in front of the user. To perform it, they must first form a few hand seals and then put both their palms on the ground. After that, a slab of rock will stand up straight to protect the user from an incoming attack. However, this wall is not as strong as one would think.  

Name: Doton: Shinjuu Zanshu no Jutsu - Double Suicide Decapitation Technique

Description: A ninjutsu used to trap the opponent in the ground. The user must first get underground and directly below the target, after which they will pull the enemy into the ground so that only their head remains overground as they emerge on the surface. The collapsing ground will effectively block the victim's movement as they fall into the hole, so it will take them some time to escape, if they are able to on their own at all. This jutsu can be used to pull an opponent underground completely, but in that case a firm layer of earth or rock will not be created around the target's body and they will be able to escape much easier.

Childhood

Niji’s parents had the traveler’s blood in them preferring to wander the world instead of settling down with a nice home and a nice family. Prior to all their wishes though Niji’s mother got pregnant and they were forced to stop for the better part of a year so that she could give birth. When she was roughly five months along she begged her husband to take her back to her home where she could give birth with her parents close to her. Reluctantly he agreed and they set off back to the Earth Country. Luckily they were already on the border and her village was only a fortnight away. They arrived back to her village and the welcoming arms of her parents where she settled down to wait out her pregnancy and give birth.

Five months later the day came. Niji’s mother was sitting in the living room talking with her mother when the pains began and they knew it was time. They called the village midwife and moved her into her parent’s room where she labored for hours. It was a difficult birth that almost resulted in the death of mother and child. As the baby was born in to the world the midwife proclaimed it a boy and asked the mother what his name would be. She told the midwife, through tears, that the child was to be named Niji and was to take the surname of her farther Hebi. Here the midwife stared at the mother, hesitant to give the child up, but with great reluctance she gave him to her. Niji’s mother stared at her boy for a moment, and then her screams rent the air. Her mother quickly rushed over and took the boy from her arms as she screamed in agony. The grandmother looked down at her grandson and gasped. The child was missing his left eye, where another forest green jewel should be there was a gaping hole. That night everyone in the house cried, the mother and father for themselves, and the grandparents for their grandson. That night the only one to get sleep was Niji.

In the morning his parents were gone, leaving him behind with nothing but a name and a note. As his grandmother read the note her eyes teared up and she strode into the street and screamed at the top of her lungs that anyone that would abandon their son was no daughter of her’s. From that day on Niji was raised by his kind grandfather and his strict grandmother.

Under the strict hand of his grandmother Niji learned the value of hard work and patience; often helping his grandmother around the house and his grandfather with his work. While his grandparents loved him and were kind towards him the rest of the village was not so forgiving. At first it was just the children, they refused to let him play with them and often called him unpleasant names. Then, as he grew older, the adults began to do it as well. The refused to acknowledge him or step in when their children teased Niji. When the children realized that they could get away with torturing the young Niji they escalated there teasing to physical abuse.

The first time it happened was on Niji’s eighth birthday, he was running around on the outskirts of the village entertaining himself by trying to catch the crows when a gang of boys showed up. They began catcalling and throwing some small pebbles at Niji, but he did what he always did and ignore them. Normally this would cause the boys to give up their game and leave but this time was different. This time instead of leaving they picked up larger stones and began to through them. Niji began to run from the boys down an alley off to the side of the street, thinking that he could get away, but the boys were not to about to let this new game end so quickly. They raced off after him, down the alley and to the dead end. Niji turned towards the boy with the wall behind his back and fear in his eyes. On of the boys noticed some broken sticks of bamboo and picked them up and passed them to his friends. They began to beat Niji with sticks until he was crying in pain and bleeding out of multiple gashes caused by the sticks. Niji curled into a ball on the ground and retreated deep into his mind. Eventually, when the tears were all gone and Niji’s throat was too sore to cry out, the boys threw down the sticks and left; leaving Niji on the ground.

The boys would end up playing this game many, many, more times using harder and harder weapons. Niji’s grandmother pleaded with village to leave him alone but the scoffed in her faced and told her it was boys being boys. This torture every time he went outside eventually lead to Niji becoming a shut-in. After this he began reading books as they were the only way he could ever escape. He read book after book, scroll after scroll, until he had read everything in the village. By the time he was ten he was as smart as a sixteen year old. Then everything changed.

One day as Niji sat in on the porch he saw a group of the men walk by. They clothed in black and wearing headbands engraved with some insignia. Curious Niji followed after the men and watched them as they went about their business in the village. He watched in awe at the way that the villagers treated the men. They were respectful and kind; they even had respect in their eye. As the sun began to sink Niji began to head home as he realized that he was on the other side of the village. Unfortunately for him his tortures saw that he was abound and away from his grandparents. It had been a long time since they had played their favorite game and decided to play it one more time. Niji turned down a short cut that he often used as a quick way home when he stopped in his tracks. At the other end of the path were two of his tortures holding steel pipes, he turned around quickly intending to go back onto the road when three more of his torturers enter the path carrying steel pipes as well. Niji swallowed and frantically searched around looking for a way out, but to his despair he found not a single way out. It was at this point that the first blow landed, right across his back. He fell to his knees only to be rewarded with a hail of blows. Niji lay on the ground where he felt the pain from blow after blow until he eventually became numb. Then suddenly the blows stopped. He slowly began to sink into unconsciousness when his saw three pairs of feet and heard voices. Then everything went black.

Niji woke up in his home with one of the men standing over him with a smile on his face. The man stood up and turned towards his grandparents who off to the side. Niji heard the man say that he would be fine and that none of the damage was permanent. With that he took his leave and Niji slipped back into unconsciousness. When he woke again he climbed out of his bead and went into the kitchen where his grandparents where sitting. They looked at him with sorrow in their eyes as they told him the news that would change his life forever. They were leaving the village and heading somewhere else safer for him. Niji knew that this would be a blow to his grandfather, who established a reputation as a reliable worker in the village, and his grandmother, who had been born and raised in the village. So he proposed something different. Niji told them that he wanted to be a ninja and that he would go to the Village Hidden in the Rock by himself. His grandparents were stunned, they never would have guessed that Niji wanted to become a ninja and in truth neither had Niji until earlier that day. He wanted the respect that those ninja had and he was willing to work for it.

Niji’s grandparents agreed and the preparations were made. They insisted that they at least accompany him to the village and Niji reluctantly agreed. On the journey there Niji spent most of his time thinking about what his new life would be and how different it would be from his current one. So it was that they arrived in the village and got him a small apartment and enrolled him in the local academy. With a teary good-bye his grandparents rode with a caravan back towards their village and Niji turned his back to both them and his village, he now faced towards his future.

Academy Years  

For the most part Niji’s academy years were very uneventful. At first he had a hard time fitting in with the rest f the student and making friends but that changed after a few months and Niji fell into his groove. Due to the fact he had already spent time studying book and scrolls from when he was younger he was mentally more mature and smarter than his classmates, but he hid this well often keeping his comments to himself and purposely answering a question wrong when the teacher would ask him. The teacher knew what he was doing but let it slide considering he always did well on his tests.

It was in his second year at the Academy that he discovered his talents for manipulating people and began to perfect them. It started when a girl he liked started going out with another boy in the class. Niji spread a few rumors and insinuated that the boy had insulted the girl. A few days later they had a messy and public breakup. Niji sat in there shadows and watched as the girl cried. It was then that he felt a sense of joy at his work. Niji had been able to manipulate these two people and then cause them pain.

In his third year at the academy his sadistic streak and unique sense of humor became more pronounced. In the mock combat he often went over the top to cause his opponent pain and would then laugh at him. At the time his teachers dismissed it as being overenthusiastic unaware that they were watching a monster growing right before their eyes.

Niji passed the Final Exam at the top of his class and was rewarded with a headband signaling that he had become a true ninja at last. With the academy doors closing behind him he set forth on his journey as a Genin.
