Need To Get Better... [Rank Training - Open]

OOC: Going for 2 ranks.

Sora was walking along a long and curvy road through a dense forest. Covered with tree, he was lucky there was any sunlight getting through, in fact he was wondering how it was getting through. He had been bored and thought a good walk would help, and of course a good stretch never hurt. The night was new, the skies cloudless and sitting in them was the great disk of shining light, otherwise known as the moon. Every time he saw it he thought of the face on the moon, he wondered if it could be his parents watching over him. He wondered if there could possibly be anyone on the moon. He breathed through his mouth, the steam it made was transparent, yet he could still see it. He yawned as he took a right turn, a simple answer to the fork in the road. Of course Sora had no clue what was down this way, nor did he know what was that way. Luck did not seem to be on his side as the road disappeared in some thick fog. He wouldn't turn around, he wasn't paying attention anyways he was completely in a world of his own, just walking forward.

Once he came back to his senses he had already been walking through the fog for about five minutes, long enough to actually get pretty lost. He of course did not know how long he'd been walking, nor did he know where he was, but he knew one thing; He wasn't alone. He felt the presence of another being almost directly behind him, but also to his right a small bit. This was no other traveler lost after spacing off, who was that stupid. He didn't want the answer to that. Of course he could also here them in the bushes nearby, assassins? Sad excuses for a ninja from the sounds of it. Why would they want him though, of all people. He was merely a genin, only knowing basic academy stuff. He only knew the three most basic jutsu at all, though he was extremely skilled in genjutsu. So, he shouldn't be the one to call someone a 'sad excuse of a ninja'.

He turned around, knowing he would not find anyone as he still heard them making a ruckus in the bushes. He decided this person, had to be up to no good, hiding in bushes from a shinobi. He quickly formed a handseal as he transformed into his old academy teacher, though this wouldn't do much as he couldn't see the grass under his feet. How could anyone see in this, is it even possible. I've heard people that have grown used to this have trained their other senses to find their way around, but I wonder if it is possible to see through this... He thought to himself. As the noise in the bush came to a sudden stop he stood completely still, silently and slowly pulling out his katana out of it's scabbard on his waist. As it came out he stood in a defensive stance, right foot in front and other about a foot and a half away and a foot behind. His katana he held diagonal to the ground in front of him as to block attacks from the front.

He waited for the next move, but didn't have to wait long. He was suddenly punched on his back, just a tiny bit to the left of his right shoulder. He quickly slashed that way as he turned his body to face that way, but found nothing was there. Out of nowhere he was hit once again, same spot as before, once again slashing to no success. How can I defend against something I can't See coming? He thought as for a third time he was hit in the same spot, just left of his right shoulder. Fine, let's act like I've experienced this fog countless time. I won't go by sight, I'll go by scent and sound. Only focusing on the other senses I have. He quickly thought. He started closing his eyes, but they jolted back open as he was hit for a fourth time, he forced them shut after the hit. Gawh, this is starting to hurt! He thought to himself, making a note in his mind to rub it after the battle. Here I come! He thought as he grinned, holding his katana out in front of himself once again.

Once his eyes had become closed he felt much better. The chill in his nose when he was breathing in was more clear now, his ears were picking up more sound than usual too. He got hit in the shoulder once more, not seeing or hearing this coming, and he almost dropped the katana in the pain and surprise of that one. His shoulder was getting really sore now, not every day you get hit in the same exact spot on the shoulder like five times. After that however, his senses had come to a decision. His hearing and smell, feel and taste all of a sudden felt much better. He could smell the mist, and hear the man running towards him. He quickly let go of the blade with his left hand, only holding on with his right now, and spun around backwards. He reached his blade outwards with his arm as he spun to attempt to slash the man, and as a side bonus possibility, stop him from attacking again. He knew the attack had hit as his spin came to an almost immediate stop and the sound of clothes ripping.

He smiled, his perfect white teeth would usually glisten in the sunlight, but the mist was much too thick to even see them. So much for your advantage of you actually seeing me, He said, his voice was seen with ears, no eyes involved. He heard a snicker coming from behind him, and almost instantaneously was hit in the shoulder again, Don't get cocky kid. Being able to slash me is one thing, beating me is another. The voice reminded Sora of death, it was the kind of voice a natural born murderer would have he guessed. This hit was all that was needed, and through the surprise and immense pain delivered with it, he dropped the katana to the ground. The sound of cold, hard, metal hitting the ground was one of the worst things that could have happened at a time like this, of course that's what Sora thought at least. His hopes dropped when he felt the hilt leave his hand, time seemed to slow down as it did, only once he heard the metal hit the ground was time restored. He quickly fell to the ground, looking for the katana, but it could take hours to find it in this fog, he'd need to finish the battle first. Looks like it will be hand versus hand... He thought, his hope was being restored constantly, little by little.

Even if he was doubting himself...

He jumped up with his knees, landing on his feet for a quick and stylish get up. Remember, it's your fault for picking a fight with me... Don't go crying home to mommy or anything, not that you'll be able to after I'm through with you. He chuckled, his eyes still closed and ears listening for anything. When he heard the footstep he noticed something, this was no wooden sandal. Nor was it any type of shoe, or sandal, or clothing on his foot, no he was barefoot. This wasn't too important, but it did mean that his feet should be more tough so he should be a good foot fighter too. He was ready this time when the attack came and as the voice's supplier went once again for his back right shoulder. He quickly dropped to the floor, his legs spread wide, his arms holding him up. He quickly spun around using his arms, using his eet as a wheel or a propeller trying to trip the voice's carrier. He felt his left foot touch the man, but only barely and the feeling quickly left as the thing he hit was gone.

OOC: Still going for two ranks at once, so are we going for 5 or 10 points this topic?

After the body was gone he jumped back up to his feet, as quietly as possible. He stayed in a defensive stance, waiting, listening. When he heard something this time, it was not a footstep or anything, but him shouting. All of a sudden he could feel it, the mist was gone. His eyes sprung open as he took in the beautiful sight, the forest. However, there was nothing there. Now Now, let us not rely only on sight. It is definitely not your best sense... The voice said, it was coming from behind. He quickly spun around, and there he was. A young man, maybe twenty-three years old, blond hair, pretty long. Yet at the same time he gave of a feeling of oldness and sorrow. He couldn't let it get in the way of the objective though, saving his life by at least beating his.

I can never forgive you... He shouted as he quickly attempted a right jab to the man's ribs. The man seemd to dodge with ease a he simply sidestepped as gracefully as Sora thought possible. Good, but what won't you forgive me for? He asked, taking another step back as Sora took a left jab this time. For doing whatever you have done, I can feel it. You're tainted and that will be your demise. He shouted, attempting a kick kick to the shin this time. But you didn't even know my name was Lucian... He replied as he jumped backwards of course dodging, he was obviously going easy. Sora could finally see his sword again, so he decided he'd make a dive for it. He start side-stopping, acting like he was thinking of a way to attack, but actaully getting closer to the sword.

It is a nice sword isn't it? Lucian asked chuckling as he looked over to the katana. Crap Sora thought as he quickly dove for the sword, Lucian right behind him on his feet. He reached the katana as he instantly sliced towards Lucian who had still been running. He actually hit Lucian this time, blood following closely behind the blade. Sora smiled as Lucian jumped back. But the smile soon faded as Lucian looked up with the most evil smile Sora had ever seen in his whole life. He watched as Lucian brought his arm up, where the cut was, and licked the blood all the way across his arm. Sora had already jumped up and been ready to charge while he was doing this, the only thing stopping him from charging was the disgust he had towards this man. But that soon ended when he got over it and ran full speed at the man, word clenched in his hands as he attempted a downward slash towards the man's torso.

The slash would've hit, but instead there was a loud 'clink'. Lucian had pulled out a katana of his own, so fast Sora couldn't see it when he blinked as the slash should have struck. Sora had to quickly retaliate and jump backwards to do so, shocked at how fast he had pulled out his sword. However he couldn't rest for long as Lucian finally went on the offense again, running at Sora and slashing a horizontal slash towards his thigh. Sora quickly struck his swrod downward as he ran forward quickly, blocking the attack and following up with one of his own as he pushed himself in a dropkick aimed at Lucian's shins.

The kick to the legs hit, well sort of. The kick reached the legs, but instead of actually kicking it, they went through and he ended up almost falling in the ground. Lucian smiled when he saw Sora almost fall and he attempted to get Sora to fall by kicking him. When Lucian kicked sora, it actually hit, but when Sora had hit Lucian it had passed through. He however noticed Lucian was kicking in a strange manner, but couldn't find what it was so he set the idea aside. He had been kicked with enough for to push him over, but instead of falling, he instead rolled on the ground only to kick jump himself back to a standing position. He glared at Lucian, who was glaring back with eyes that sent a shiver to your soul with one glance. Sora quickly closed his eyes and focused on his other senses once again, the hilt in his hand felt warm now, however when he moved his hand up just a fraction of an inch he felt the coldness come back again, at least to the new area. The smell reminded him of ramen, but he had no idea why so he quickly stopped breathing from his nose, instead using his mouth. He then heard the sound of people making and eating ramen, and tasted ramen in the air.

He quickly opened his eyes to see what was going on and found himself to be in a ramen shop in his village, he had eaten lunch the day before here. He was confused for a second, that is until he felt a slight pinch right on his right shoulder where he had been hit several times before. A genjutsu huh, I can't believe I hadn't noticed before. I am a expert in it, though I have no jutsu in my arsenal that are genjutsu, i'll have to do that soon. He thought to himself as he quickly blinked several times. However the last time he blinked when he re-opened his eyes the view was now different.

He was still at the ramen shop, but it was now dusk and no one was around. Nothing could be heard besides some crickets, smelled except for the air, nor tasted besides saliva.Come on... Don't do this to me. Egh, maybe he'll actually think I'm confused. If that's the case I can use this to my advantage, but how to get out of this without him noticing... He continued thinking, once more feeling another pinch. He had a sudden idea, remembering pain could sometimes be used to negate genjutsu. He quickly pulled up his right thumb and bit on it, hard enough to cause it to start bleeding. He did this with his eyes closed, hoping when he re-opened them he'd see the sun again. However when he opened them, he did not see the open plains, nor the ramen shop, but instead his old academy classroom.

It was still dusk it seemed, the place was deserted nothing left at all. He decided he had had enough, so he grabbed his katana and made a quick slash at his left arm, only powerful eough to hurt enough to negate the genjutsu. It would however come at a toll, the obvious one being a injured arm, but on top of that a greater chance to lose this battle. This 'Lucian' not only seemed strong, but also smart and very talented. He was an expert with swords it seemed, and all taijutsu for that matter, genjutsu, and he had the smarts to hold those together. However Sora was also smart and very cunning, able to come up with a strategy in a couple of seconds. He hoped to perfect this in the near future, though now was not the time to think about. After all, he was a new genin that was facing a murderer that seemed at least chuunin like strength.

The slash with the sword made it pretty obvious he had negated the genjutsu, but he was tired of the genjutsu even after that small bit. He came back to the real world and found himself laying on the ground, katana still in his hand. The pinches on his right shoulder had been more of those attacks to it, in the genjutsu it had only barely hurt though. Now though it hurt as much as he was being punched for a first time in that particular spot, and it didn't go away. So not only was his left arm bleeding and injured, but also his right shoulder. He then soon realized he hadn't seen Lucian yet, so he quickly jumped up off the g5round and looked around, only to find a note on the ground.

I'm sorry to have caused you trouble, but I have left now. I realize my time is now and yours is not, so try to have a good time.

He read the note silently to himself. As excited as he should have been, the murderer had left and let him alive, but he was in fact very mad. A real man is supposed to stay and fight, but he instead ran away. He grabbed the paper crumpled it up and chucked it over his shoulder. It looked like it hit a tree and bounced off, but he had noticed the tree hadn't been there before. Unless he had been dragged somewhere else, it shouldn't be there. He silently walked over to it in a speedy way and touched it, only to find his hand go through it. Then he noticed that on the ground the tree was surrounded by leaves, besides where the paper had hit where it was a empty seat of grass. Lucian! He thought as he stopped moving at all, his heart slowed down and time seemed to follow his heart. The paper had bounced off him and the tree was made by him. He quickly took his sword and attempted to stab where he expected Lucian to be. In case he would miss he slash several times very quickly in that area.
