Clan Name: Kietsumeka ( Trans: Joymaker )
Clan Origin: Kirigakure
Village: One branch family has since found a home in Sunagakure. The fate of the rest, and the location of individual members, is unknown.
Clan History: The Kietsumeka place they're origins on a two progenitors of the entire clan, the first Kietsumeka. While several scholars of the clan speculate of the validity of the story, it has become more of a creation myth over the extent of the clan's long history, a widely accepted one among them. It is said that the first Kietsumeka ( widely believed to be a man and a woman ) was born in a time of great war with a rival Hidden village that has since been wiped out and much suffering, a time when plague ravaged the land of Water.
One by one, he saw his family and friends fall either on the battlefield or to the plague until only his gentle twin sister remained, and it is said that a great despair filled his heart at the daily sight of the people all around him suffering and dying. He looked upon the people as he buried first his mother, then his father and siblings, and he observed with great sadness that the people had abandoned themselves to despair.
Not to a religious despair, or a despair of their eternal state, but to a despair of their ever being able to escape the infection, or to outlive the war that broke the land. Kietsumeka wept openly at the sight he saw in the Land of Water, in which the people had been brought into a condition to despair of life.
Kietsumeka withdrew from the world for a time, to meditate alone with his grief on how to resolve the suffering he had seen among his fellows, and he would allow none but his twin sister ( Who is believed to have been named Rosuto ) to attend him in his mourning.
When he emerged from his contemplations, it is said that Kietsumeka received a vision from the Gods, one instructing him on how he may relieve the suffering of those he held dear, and to defend the ones he loved. Rosuto listened to his account and swore an oath on the spot to follow him, and aid her brother in completing the quest that had been set before them. The next day the two left Kirigakure in the dead of night on a quest for enlightenment of the mind and the body, to gain the favor of the whatever god it was that sent the vision and so help his country to heal.
The stories of the trials and tribulations of Kietsumeka and Rosuto are varied and numerous among the clan, varying from fasting with no food or water for days to fighting enemies of Water with no armour and armed only with a blade. It is believed they had suffered greatly in exchange for the divine favour they sought. What is known is that a few years later, the two progenators of the clan emerged having passed every trial and task set before them by the unknown and distant deity, and had been granted It's favor.
It is said that this moment was the very essence of the Kietsumeka clan's origin, and when Kietsumeka and Rosuto returned to Mist they had ended the war and were praised as heroes, and on they're foreheads was adorned the Konjoukei, the third eye that granted them the soul sight. Kietsumeka himself became the first Warrior ninja of the clan, and Rosuto the first Healer. It was then that the two castes within the clan were set down, and the path of the Healer and the Warrior were made seperate, with certain principles each was charged to uphold and honor even at the expense of their lives.
Upon they're return, Rosuto set her hand to training more Healer ninja, and married a nobleman in Mist and had children. Kietsumeka himself did the same, and together they both had many children, and the two became the first Matriarch and Patriarch of the clan. The clan is seperated now into three branch families and one main branch, all of which treat the main branch family as royalty. The Kietsumeka have always, ever since its inception, placed clan law above the laws of the country, and service to the clan comes first and foremost before any other endeavor.
Since its inception, the Kietsumeka clan had become arguably the most powerful clan in Mist. The Kietsumeka clan was once one of the oldest, strongest, most widely respected and powerful clans in the Land of Water. Once the healer ninja of the clan were beloved of the people of Mist, and put they're hands on the greatest of Kages from the country over the years.
Once the warrior ninja of the clan lived they're lives proudly, laying them down for the denizens of Water and were renown for they're unique combat styles and abilities. Once, the Kietsumeka clan's place was assured among the nation and the people. Once, but no longer. Now the Kietsumeka are hunted across all countries in what they call the 'Purge', hunted down like dogs by ninja assassins from the Village Hidden in the Mist in an effort to wipe the clan off the face of the earth.
But for a time for the Kietsumeka; it was good. The centuries old clan entered they're recent dilemna only recently, when Matriarch Sousoui instructed her clan to resist the rise to power of the current Kage, calling him unworthy of the position. In an act of suppression and terrible retribution, the Kage ordered the extermination of the Kietsumeka clan throughout every province of Water down to the last living member.
Attacking in the dead of night, the main branch of the clan as well as it's three side branches, suffered heavy losses from the unexpected betrayal. Most of the main branch of the Kietsumeka was wiped out, with only several members having escaped to safety and the clan Matriarch murdered. The homes that belonged to the Kietsumeka were burned to the ground and looted for what treasures and heirlooms that hadnt been secreted away with what clan members that survived the onslaught.
Now the remnants of the Kietsumeka scatter themselves to the wind, constantly looking over they're shoulders with they're ears to the ground to listen for the footsteps of Mist assassins. Fighting a terrifying battle against extinction, many of their old allies now refuse to aid them because of bribes, obligations, and sometimes direct threats from the Kirikage of Mist and the Konjoukei emblazoned on every Kietsumeka's forehead makes it impossible for them to hide for long.
Kietsumeka have since sought refuge in new villages, bartering they're skills and unique abilities for some small measure of safety and security. The fact that most of the warrior Ninja of the clan have either died in battle covering the rest of the clan's escape, as well as meeting various gruesome ends, does little to instill hope in the surviving members but what remain fight back as best they can and protect the healers with they're lives.
Most Kietsumeka survive day to day and have become nomads and fugitives, seeking whatever shelter they can from the wrath of Mist and watching most of they're former allies abandon them.
Clan Dogma
True peace can only come from within and cannot be taught or imposed. Seek always a stillness in your mind and heart, and thereby find peace within yourself. Work violence against your enemies only to defend your clan and family, and do not kill needlessly nor use innocents as pawns against your enemies.
Never betray your trust and be ever vigilant against those that would act against the clan's best interest, both within and without. Protect always the weak, innocent, poor, and young no matter if they be friend or foe, even if it means you must pay with your own life in the doing of it. Strive always to aid your fellow clan members and allies, to foster new hope, new ideas, and new prosperity for those around you. Every failure in the line of duty diminishes the name of the Kietsumeka clan, and every success adds to it's luster.
Respect your equals, be always honorable and fair minded in your dealings with others, and hold the honor of the clan, country, and leader close to your own heart in that order respectively. If such honor is defiled or lost, avenge it. Never break your word once given, punish those who harm your kinsmen by word or deed, and strive ever to uphold Clan law in every action you take. Uphold true and fitting justice against your enemies.
Violence will meet violence and cruelty repay cruelty in turn, but good actions will return to the one that performs them with the good of the clan in mind. Help all who hurt, unless it would endanger the life of your allies or yourself to do so.
Noteworthy Survivors of the Kietsumeka Clan, The Dwindling Few
There are a precious, dwindling few left among the Kietsumeka clan who contain the most potent abilities unlocked by they're Konjoukei, and though they have become more legend than substance these days they still are believed to be alive out there somewhere by more hopeful members of the clan. None know for sure if they still walk the earth at all, but to all current knowledge gathered, rumours and more than a few fireside tales told among the remnants of the Kietsumeka, they have neither yet been captured nor killed by Mist or its allies.
Kietsumeka Tsuyayaki, The Lady in the Fray
"We Kietsumeka are used to women leaders in War and Peace. I am descended from the first of us, from mighty men and women. But now, I am not fighting for my lost home or my wealth. I am fighting as an ordinary person! For my lost freedom, my bruised by body, and my outraged people! On this spot, we must either conquer or die with glory! Follow me, my people, or submit to the Kirigakuran Purge!!" --- Kietsumeka Tsuyayaki, onleading her jounin into battle
Tsuyayaki is said to be one of the last surviving heirs of the Kietsumeka main house, and is seen as a Queen to her people. She remains on the list of Kietsumeka that the Village Hidden in the Mist would most love to get they're hands on, and has since made quite a name for herself on the run and is listed in the Bingo Book as an S-class criminal.
In her mid twenties, she is said to be the only Kietsumeka in existence who was allowed to master both the Healer and Warrior paths of the clan, an endeavor that has never before been done much less condoned by the clan itself, and has the ability to summon Zou Kouhi herself to aid her in her endeavors.
Many Kietsumeka as well as the clan's enemies believe Tsuyayaki to be one of the most powerful members of the clan still alive. Few Kietsumeka have encountered her in recent years, though those that have have spread the word as best they could to bring hope to other clanmates that she still lives, and through her the fading hope that the clan may yet be restored one day to greatness and unified under her banner. It is said by the more cynical of the Kietsumeka who are said to have known her in the past that her greatest weakness lies in her strange taijutsu style, which favors elegant, elaborate and often time consuming moves over efficient ones.
She is also said to be attended by two Kietsumeka warrior ninja of the clan at all times, but the identity of these are unknown. Whether or not she is planning her next move, has any interest at all in reuniting the Kietsumeka in a foreign country, or is even alive, is the subject of many debates among refugee Kietsumeka.
Tsuyayaki is also believed to be very temperamental, and to have a wicked often fatal temper when crossed. She has been said also to possess great beauty and to be very vain, and dresses herself as a noblewoman in fine robes and has been rumoured to have been spotted recently near Konohagakure in the Land of Fire. Whether or not this rumour is true, is unknown.
Kietsumeka Taizen, The Keeper of the Scrolls
"His steady words and gentle counsel, his rational voice and unyielding logic was enough to sway even the hardest of hearts to his cause." ---- Spoken by an Observor of Kietsumeka Taizen
Taizen, like Tsuyayaki who is his younger sister, is one of the few surviving heirs to the main branch house of the Kietsumeka clan. Perhaps the greatest and most powerful Healer of the clan who yet remains alive, Taizen is said to be the Keeper of the legendary summoning scrolls that used to make contracts with Zou Kouhi and Tsuyoi Raion. A Healer ninja with a shining reputation for his wisdom and ability, other healers of the Kietsumeka clan aspire to become " The Next Taizen."
Said to be in his mid forties and to sport a long graying beard to his waist, Taizen is thought to wear nothing more than a humble brown robe and carry a walking stick as his only weapon. He to is said to be able to summon elephants as well as his younger often more temperamental sister. Said to have been the Advisor and Chronicler of the Kietsumeka clan as a whole, Taizen is believed to travel with his younger sister at times, and at others to travel alone depending on the Kietsumeka telling the story of him.
He is said also to be the keeper of the artifacts his young brother Touzoku steals, hiding them away in a cave or other underground place for safe keeping. A master strategist as well as a poison and trap making expert due to his complete lack of any taijutsu, he is said also to be the pinnacle of everything a Kietsumeka healer aspires to, and has little to no offensive capabilities, choosing to remain pacifistic in the face of The Purge.
Working behind the scenes unobtrusively in order to save what Kietsumeka he can, Taizen is listed in the Bingo book as an A-Class criminal, and his formal training was as a Courier ninja. Many who have tried to seek out Taizen have failed due to his elusiveness in order to obtain his blessing to sign the summoning scrolls, but it is said that even now he allows very few to do so. It is rumoured that he was last spotted near the vicinity of Iwagakure in Rock Country.
Kietsumeka Touzoku, The Thief of Lives
"I dont like too much freedom down there.... Makes me tingle in my gibblets." --- Kietsumeka Touzoku, said during a debate with a total stranger over what underwear is most comfortable.
Touzoku is perhaps the youngest survivor of the main branch family, and has made quite a name for himself so far despite his young age and apparently haphazard training in the Warrior path of the Kietsumeka. Said to be around sixteen, Touzoku has made an infamous name for himself in the record halls and information buildings of several villages because of his talent at theft and espionage in order to reclaim any and all important documents and artifacts belonging to the Kietsumeka that have been taken from the clan.
A thing that has made Touzoku famous among the surviving members of the clan, especially the children, and infamous among the Shinobi nations. Constantly scheming, meddling, and curious to a fault, his reputation for being able to work on the fly and to avoid capture have become legendary among young Kietsumeka, and countless stories about his doings have been traded among the children and young adults of the clan.
While he seems to try and avoid killing when he can, Touzoku has been said to have the ability to summon lions as well, and the most prominent story of him being bandied about currently is one of the young Warrior nin stealing a very expensive funeral urn said to contain the ashes of a long dead member of the Kietsumeka clan from the Raikage of Lightning country and leaving in it's place a vase of flowers and a box of erotically shaped chocolate candies.
Some elder Kietsumeka scoff at this story and others of Touzoku's doings, but despite they're disbelief this story and others are whispered among the young of the clan, giving them hope and entertainment in an otherwise joyless existence on the run. Said to be a master of disguise, Touzoku is very wary, even paranoid, and is hesitant to ever let down his guard when in not in the company of his fellow clanmates or his elder sister and brother.
Because of his young age, Touzoku still seems to lack sense of long term planning as well as the ability to form complicated plans unless he's in imminent danger and on the fly. He is listed as a D ranked criminal in the Bingo Book. The Village Hidden in the Mist as well as the Village Hidden among the Clouds have recently been particularly strident about attempting his capture as they seem to be some of Touzoku's favorite targets, but each increase on his bounty and the more ninja they send to look for him seem to only spur him on to greater feats of thievery and larceny.
None know if Touzoku still lives, although it is unlikely given his penchant for extremely dangerous escapades behind enemy lines, and given his paranoid nature and skill at covering his own tracks it comes as no surprise that noone has seen him recently.
Kietsumeka Kichigai, The Dark Harbinger
"Great losses only bring numb shock. To truly plunge your victim into despair, you must overwhelm him with many small sufferings." -- Kietsumeka Kichigai
If there truly was a monster among the Kietsumeka, it is said that Kietsumeka Kichigai is the epitome of a fallen member of the clan. While formally still fighting for the survival of the clan and it's members, Kichigai's savagery and viciousness against his enemies have become legendary among both the Kietsumeka and the clan's foes.
Possessing of a notorious and wicked reputation and said to be in his early thirties, Kichigai was born a member of a branch family that has since been wiped out, and it is believed by some elder Kietsumeka of the clan that he has since fallen into Diablary. Kichigai continues to remain a constant thorn in the side of the Kirikage, as well as the bogeyman with whom elder members of the clan frighten their children into obedience.
He is said to possess no summons. Ranked as an S-Class criminal in the Bingo book, Kichigai is known to be a warrior ninja of the Kietsumeka clan, but has traded his honor and his fealty to the main house for power and joyful love of the slaughter, ruled completely by blind vengeance against both his and the clan's enemies and has dedicated is life to revenge.
Called the Dark Harbinger among the ninja of Mist, Kichigai suffers from a terrible blood lust, and occasionally is said to go on murderous and bloody rampages through the Land of Mist and killing whomever around him he can get his hands on when sufficiently angered. The remnants of these rampages are nothing more than the burned and broken bodies of his victims, and though there have been several cases in which Kichigai is suspected to be the prime suspect of such murders.
Ruthless and predatory, he is whispered to possess a cunning mind and often enjoys toying with his targets before killing them, and when he encounters an opponent more powerful than he he wastes no time in doing everything he can to kill them, often as fast as possible. Tales of his cruelty are often talked of in hushed whispers among the clan, and many wonder when Kichigai in his madness will turn on the people whom he originally set out to protect and avenge.
There are few crimes and atrocities that occur in Mist at this point to which Kichigai's name has not been attached. It is very unlikely that Kichigai still lives, but there has been a rumour circulating among the clan that he was spotted recently in Grass country.
Kietsumeka Fenikkusu, The Patriarch
"Fear not my clansmen, though distance and pain have divided us. For we still as bound together as the reeds of a basket." --- Kietsumeka Fenikkusu
Kietsumeka Fenikkusu was the husband of Kietsumeka Sousui, the former Matriarch of the entire Kietsumeka clan. Fenikkusu lost his wife, the nominal leader of the clan, on the night the Purge began, and has since been the top most wanted Kietsumeka by Mist. In his early seventies, Fenikkusu remains still an imposing and charismatic figure among his clan and those who have had dealings with him.
Fenikkusu used to be a very powerful warrior of the clan, but since the Purge began his strength has been in decline. It is said that Fenikkusu has the ability to summon Tsuyoi Raion himself by those of the clan who had met him previously before the Purge began and to be one of the most fearsome Warrior ninja that the clan has had in a hundred years.
Ever since the Purge began however, and he lost his wife and most of this children, Fenikkusu is sad to have a deep sadness in his eyes, and most have contributed the loss of most of his strength to his grief. He is said to have withdrawn from the world completly, and that the only two who know of where his secret sanctuary lies is his daughter Tsuyayaki and his son, Taizen.
It is whispered among the elder Kietsumeka that one day Fenikkusu will return to unite the clan with the remnants of the main family, or else to name a successor. Fenikkus is listed in the Bingo book as a A-Class criminal, and was last sighted near Rice Country in the company of Kietsumeka Taizen and Kietsumeka Taizen. It is said that he also has a tenuous was to contact Kietsumeka Touzoku as well, but none know if this is true or just wishful thinking.
Kekkai Genkai/Special Ability: The legacy of the Kietsumeka clan is the Konjoukei ( Trans: Soulsight ), which is the ability used and granted by the third eye on every Kietsumeka's forehead, and every time the Konjoukei is used it causes the third eye on they're foreheads to open and blaze with chakra. Since warrior Kietsumeka are taught to focus and use they're powers differently than healer Kietsumeka, they retain the same three core abilities that all Kietsumeka have but use them in very different ways and are taught the warrior nin variations of they're kekkai genkai.
The three main powers that Konjoukei grants, for every Kietsumeka no matter if they are healer or warrior ninja, are as follows:
Blessed Aura
By activating Blessed Aura, a Kietsumeka sets up an aura about him of pure attraction, an ability that can either draw the immeadiate attention of those around him or deflect attention off of him completly. With this ability, Kietsumeka in the past have been able to sway the opinions of others to support their own aims, enact stirring speeches that will raise bloodthirsty mobs and instill in them unshakable confidence to where they will fight to the death even under overwhelming odds, and even use this indescribably mystique to create wild passions and feelings that run rampant in an individual.
It is this power that the Kietsumeka have been renowned for, earning for them the reputation of some of the most powerful genjutsu users on earth. The affect of this ability, which causes a Kietsumeka's third eye to open fully, flooding and channeling chakra through the it which causes it to emit a soft and often mesmerizing glow. It must be in plain view in order for this power to work at all, and cannot be covered up or else it will fail.
The main use of this power, nowadays, is used for a more sound reason than the accumulation of power for its own sake.
The main use of this power is refered to as ' Entrancement ' among the clan, and works very simply. This power was, and is still used half the time, to loosen the tongues of would be allies into divulging information they otherwise would not, or softening a would be opponent's attitude towards the Kietsumeka in question. Once a Kietsumeka activates this ability, thoes who are near him want to be closer to him.
There is an immeadiate and intense attraction centered around the Kietsumeka for those within his line of sight, but the fascination this power instills in others does nothing to make them lose their senses of self preservation. Were the Kietsumeka to attack in any physical way, the power would fail automatically and the entrancement broken. However, anyone who has fallen under this genjutsu related ability will remember in the future how they felt towards the Kietsumeka in question, and this is very likely to color they're reactions to him or her in the future.
Conversely, this power's opposite effect may also be used to avoid detection, enabling the Kietsumeka to pass safely through a crowd without fear of harm. While not exactly hiding from others, the Kietsumeka may simply make they're chakra signatures and demeanor seem pleasant and inoffensive, and mostly beneath notice. This power has been termed ' Aversion ' by those who use it among the clan in order to escape notice.
Working exactly as Entrancement itself does, Aversion cloaks the user in anonymity, making a Kietsumeka seem so plain and ordinary that he does not arouse suspicion except under the eyes of exceptionally skilled ninja. ( This is the first basic ability that all Kietsumeka ninja are taught to master from the beginning of they're training. )
The healer's variation of this power is what they call simply ' The Peacemaker's Boon '. In times before the Purge, Healer ninja of the clan were chosen because of this ability to be diplomats to other countries on Mist's behalf. Using the power causes a Healer ninja's Konjoukei to open completly, and emit a small, soothing glow from they're foreheads.
With this variation, a Healer ninja of the Kietsumeka clan may spread an aura of calm and peace around a small room, and while under this influence those in the room are less likely to have conflict with one another. Tempers that would otherwise flare out of control and result in violence find restraint under the influence of The Peacemaker's Boon, and petty arguments over small differences soon become reduced to respected differences of opinion.
This variation does not exert a numbing or hypnotic power over those that fall under it's effect, it simply is a method of clearing the heads of those around them so that actions are based on logic and mutual benefit. The major drawback of this variation is that it works best when in a small space such as a meeting room, but the larger the room the more spread out and less powerful this effect is on those around the Healer nin.
The more powerful the Healer ninja who is employing this ability, the more powerful its affect on those around her, but once the effects of The Peacemaker's Boon wear off those who have been affected by it have at times had a sense of remorse at the decisions that were made. Attitudes return to the way they normally would be, at times agreements that had been made have been abandoned under the accusation that those involved were manipulated. If not employed by skilled negotiator and diplomat, the Peacemaker's Boon could very well start more conflicts in the long run that it resolves.
The warrior's variation of this power is called ' God-like Visage ', and the very activation of it uses up half a Warrior ninja's chakra. By using this power on the battlefield or in order to make a firm impression on others, a Warrior's Konjoukei opens completly and blazes with the harsh light of his chakra, which pours out over his body in a wave. Those who have mastered this ability can become paralyzingly beautiful or demonically hideous, however they wish to be seen by others around them.
A Warrior who has truly mastered this variation has the ability to inspire fear, respect, and sometimes devotion if used right, on all that see him and fall under the sway of the Konjoukei's genjutsu. Under this power civilians have been known to obey a Warrior without question, and common ninja have been known to treat a Kietsumeka warrior as if his words had come from the gods themselves, and the Daimyo treat with them as if they were at the very least they're equals.
Those caught under the influence of this powerful variation, assuming that the Kietsumeka in question has chosen to make him or herself appear all but angelically beautiful, would find it unthinkable to risk a Warrior's displeasure or challenge him. Those who make themselves appear as if demonic, often as an attempt to frighten enemies into panic, need only to look into someone's eyes to engender unbearable terror in a victim and often it provokes either total immobility or reckless flight.
The Kietsumeka warrior seems as if he is insanely terrifying, more than sight could ever explain. Kietsumeka warrior ninja rarely use this power off the battlefield however, and rarely on anyone with any political power unless in the most dire of need. The Kietsumeka have learned the hard way that this power requires caution and must only be used in certain circumstances, as when the effects of this variation wear off those that have been cowed unwillingly by it have made for bitter enemies afterwards, never forgiving the humiliation it can cause those afflicted by it.
A less used aspect of this variation enables a particularly skilled Kietsumeka warrior to sway another through music and song, and this power is often used behind closed doors and recently as a means to procure money, and it is for this reason that most Kietsumeka are taught to play an instrument from birth or sing. By channeling chakra through the vocal chords, they may create an emotion of their choice to rise up within and individual or audience.
The Shepherd's Watch
When this power is used, a Kietsumeka ninja's third eye opens and emits a calming, soothing blue beam chakra that envelops they're bodies and causes a slight soothing glow to emanate from they're skin. By using this power, a Kietsumeka ninja may protect both themselves and any nearby charges within five feet of them. Through utilizing they're Konjoukei, a Kietsumeka may erect a barrier of pure chakra that extends to ten feet in all directions, physically preventing hostile enemies from approaching them.
The Kietsumeka must stand among the charges they are protecting as they erect this barrier, which blocks all forms of genjutsu and ninjutsu at its highest levels, but cannot generate this ability from afar. They're enemies may still charge, fire shurikens, or use any other form of jutsu in order to attack and try and weaken the barrier and attack it however they like, but if the Kietsumeka utilizing it is strong enough, nothing may approach within ten feet of them and they may drop the barrier at any time.
However, while it is active, not even allies may approach past it.
The Shepherd's Watch is one of the hardest abilities to learn to maintain, because of the tremendous toll it can take on a Kietsumeka ninja's body. Inexperienced users of it who are just starting out may not be able to hold the barrier up if too many ninjutsu or genjutsu attacks weaken it.
Most can only hold up the barrier for only about ten minutes, and afterwards are drained severely of chakra and are rendered useless in battle. Kietsumeka have died under the strain of maintaining and reinforcing the this ability for long periods of time, in order to either protect themselves or others from harm.
The Kietsumeka healer ninja variation of this ability is called 'All-Consuming Sleep'. This variation is used by healer nin in the clan to send a patient that is in too much pain from they're wounds that it becomes unbearable into a deep, dreamless sleep that lasts several hours. When they use this power a Kietsumeka's third eye opens partially, and they must be looking into the patients eyes deeply in order to cause them to sink into the deepest level of unperturbed slumber.
By putting a chakra barrier around the part of the brain that organizes sleep patterns, Kietsumeka healers temporarily control how long to keep a patient under, and when they release the chakra barrier they instantly return to consciousness.
The Kietsumeka warrior ninja variation of this ability is called 'Soul's Armour Shining'. By first utilizing Shepherd's Watch first, they are taught how to pulled the barrier back onto they're bodies to form visible body armor the color of they're own chakra. This is the power that is most often invoked by the few remaining Kietsumeka warrior nin of jounin rank, and the chakra armor it creates protects them from most sources of physical injury.
Like real armor however, Soul's Armour Shining still has places it does not cover which can still be penetrated, but what parts are covered by Soul's Armour Shining is considered completly impenetrable until the barrier is dropped.
Unity
Every Kietsumeka within a mile in distance of one another is connected to one another through the invisible thread that connects through the minds of all those possessing the Konjoukei. This ability need not be learned so much as it is inherited and retained by all Kietsumeka ninja from birth, enabling them to read the thoughts of any other Kietsumeka within range, share dreams and memories, and send certain emotions through the channel that connects them together.
From birth, all Kietsumeka are taught (and certain Kietsumeka naturally adapt) how to shield they're thoughts from other prying clan members as well as to learn to separate they're own emotions from that of those who are connected to them, as well as to completely sever they're connection whenever they wish. Kietsumeka who never learn how to do this do not last long among the clan, and go into exile before they driven insane by they're inability to separate they're own identity from that of the many. Conversely, jounin level Kietsumeka of exceptional skill have even mastered the ability to look through the eyes of another clan member within range who has not severed they're Unity granted connection, as well as to track other Kietsumeka down by following the invisible thread of Unity.
When a Kietsumeka who is utilizing Unity,(which is almost in constant effect unless the connection has been forcibly severed), dies all Kietsumeka know it, and feel they're connection waver and die. Kietsumeka of both castes in the clan are also able to, temporarily, establish mental links with others, though it takes up at least a third of they're chakra due to both establishing this link and maintaining it for very long.
The Kietsumeka healer ninja variation of this ability is called 'Aid the Tattered Mind'. By opening they're connection to all other clan members within range and placing they're hands on someone who has been deemed insane or has developed severe psychological dysfunctions, they may temporarily suppress or remove the madness that plagues patient depending on how skilled they are.
When using this power a healer nin's third eye opens completely and chakra pours out to envelop both the patient and the healer in question in a golden glow. The Kietsumeka healer then literally merges they're mind with the patient, comforting and healing them within they're own minds. While under the use of Aid the Tattered Mind, both the Kietsumeka healer and the patient are completely vulnerable and defenseless, and may not defend themselves in any way nor are they aware of anything around them at all.
This power can only be used on a willing subject, though jounin level ninja of exceptional ability have been known to be able to perform it regardless of the subject is willing or not and even cure another's madness permanently. The drawback of this power lies in the fact that if it is performed too often and in too much succession, the Kietsumeka may very well absorb the madness into they're own psyche and go insane themselves.
The Kietsumeka warrior ninja variation of this ability is called 'Delirium'. By drawing on all the minds connected to a Kietsumeka nin via Unity, they may project all the thoughts and emotions being experienced by all within range through a beam of red light through they're third eye onto up to three enemies.
The victims of this power ( The hardest of all to learn by the Kietsumeka warriors ) become utterly overwhelmed by the tidal wave of thoughts and emotions that are being projected into them, leaving them often incapacitated and helpless and prolonged exposure usually leaves an enemy utterly and irretrievably insane due to they're inability to cope with it all.
Diablary
There are few things the Kietsumeka fear worse than Diablary, an affliction that has befallen numerous members of the clan since its inception. Diablary occurs when a Kietsumeka suffers either extreme head trauma that would otherwise kill them, or when Warrior ninja of the clan uses the Delirium ability variation too much and for too long in battle. Healer ninja of the clan seem to be less likely to fall into Diablary, though the reason why this is is unknown. Diablary is referred to as the Living Death among the Kietsumeka, because the affliction causes the victim to go completely insane, severing a Kietsumeka's link with Unity forever and ripping apart the walls of the mind that seperate thoughts, ideas, and memories from one another.
They're chakra signatures become pale and faded, and the Konjoukei on they're foreheads go blind. This madness is infectious to other Kietsumeka around the victim, and any Kietsumeka who approach within twenty feet of a diablary victim and stay for more than a few minutes run the risk of sinking into madness as well. Healer ninja of the clan have never before been able to bring back a diablary victim, and once a clan member falls into it, it is assumed he is lost forever. Healer Ninja of the clan, curiously, have never been able to bring a victim back from Diablary, no matter how skilled a healer they are.
Other abilities and boons of Note
In times past, Warrior and Healer ninja of the Kietsumeka clan upon proving themselves were granted the option of taking a summons by signing the two summoning scrolls possessed by the clan. For the Warrior ninja of the clan, upon taking the rank of Jounin and, though rarely depending on the degree of services rendered in the clan's name and the ability of the ninja in question, the option of signing the Summoning contract to summon Lions to them was offered. Certain members of the clan, a very few, have been able to summon Tsuyoi Raion, the Chief Lion. For Healer ninja, a separate yet equal Summoning contract was available that allowed them to summon elephants.
A remarkable few noteworthy Healer ninja, usually those in power, have been able to summon Zou Kouhi, the Chief Elephant. Since the summoning scrolls seemed to have vanished along with they're caretaker, the legendary Healer ninja Kietsumeka Taizen who was designated Keeper of the Scrolls as well as the one who'se decision it was to decide who got to sign them, it is unknown whether or not any will be able to gain these summons in the future. The fate of the summoning contracts as well as Kietsumeka Taizen, is unknown.
