Requester: Anonymous Monk Master
Description: A Monk has lost an atefact within his own home. It is a Gauntlet that belongs to the earliest Monks, it is your job to find the Gauntlet and give it to him. There will be some obstacles that you will need to get through. There will be rat infestations, which you will need to destroy. There will also be workers who don't really know you and will try to fight you unless you explain it to them. There will also be a maze of sorts and you can get lost.

As Kei packed his things in their proper places before he headed back to his room, He saw a mysterious figure walking out from the distance.At this time of night? Kei thought to himself as he gazed at the silhouette which bobbed in the distance as it drew closer and closer to the village. Kei began to wonder why someone would be traveling through the dessert at this time of night, maybe it was a merchant who lost his way? Surely not, this shape seemed to be traveling light, and it certainly wasn't carrying any luggage, or pulling any carts. As it drew closer to kei, he began to realize what exactly the shape was, it was an old monk, seemingly seeking some form of help.

Kei looked at the old man as he scuttled his way through the sand, bobbing up and down with each step he took. Kei was puzzled to see a man at his age wandering through the dessert, it can be a dangerous place for someone like him, but what intrigued Kei was that the old monk lasted the travel through the dessert to Sunagakure. "Excuse me, what are you doing? you could be killed wondering through the dessert by yourself." The man paused and looked at Kei with an even more intrigued look,"I could ask you the same thing, warrior. " The monk said with an old, and rusty sort of tone, he was evidently thirsty from his voyage,"Touche, here..."Kei offered the old man some water from his canteen, the old man happily accepting his offer,"Thanks, I appreciate it...Say, you look strong, you might have some use for me. " Kei was startled, he had no idea what the man needed him for, but he didn't like the tone of his voice," What with exactly?"

The old man began to speak of a gauntlet he had lost while he pilgrim-aged to a the fire temple.
"Still, that leaves me wondering, why are you out here if what you seek was lost in the land of fire?" The old man chuckled slightly, then coughed some trying to regain his breath, This man is way too old, but has faith alone guided him here? Kei patted the man on the back, thus proving to help his cough."Young man...I need this gauntlet, it's a holy artifact that needs to be blessed before the coming sun."

Kei took his canteen back from the man after he had his fill, and placed it on his obi, tying the string to fasten it to his obi. Afterwards, he looked at the man and crossed his arms,"Well...Any pointers? I need to know where to start looking after all."
The old man grinned, he seemed to be over joyed,"Good!well, to start, I would suggest the forest, it's not too far off. That was the last place I remember having the gauntlet. But be warned, the workers there are ruthless. Kei raised one eyebrow to hear such a statement,"Workers?" The man nodded. He replied back to Kei, informing him of the situation,"Yes, they are working in the caves, trying to help me find the gauntlet, and they are rather skittish, and angry because of their progress."

"I guess they're getting nowhere. Okay, I better be off." Kei waved farewell to the old man, and walked by him in the opposite direction.

Kei set off on his new mission to find the gauntlet, his client shouted off a few worried words towards Kei as he walked off towards the border, where the forest lay,"BE CAREFUL! THE PLACE IS INFESTED WITH RATS!" Kei waved at the man as he walked on towards the moonlit horizon. Rats, huh? Kei pondered on that thought as he walked through the dusty wasteland. He was glad that it was night time, it made things a lot easier for Kei as he journeyed to the forest that loomed over the border.

I wish I had a faster means of travel...Walking everywhere is killing me.. Kei thought while he treaded through the sand, it wasn't hot like it was when the sun had been out to heat it up. It cooled his feet as he sank his feet into the sand, it poured over his feet, the coolness of the sand almost froze his feet over. I hate the dessert... He thought to himself, he was agitated that in the sun the sand was too hot, and in the night time breeze, the sand seemed to feel like it was 10 below zero.

After a couple of hours from walking in the night time sand, Kei finally made it to the border. the trees loomed off not far from where he stood, their image was masqueraded by shadows of darkness, ominous and intimidating the night transformed once peaceful, green trees into. gosh...I need a light of some sort, there's no way for me to see in there!

True, the forest was opaque in darkness, if one stuck his hand out in front of him, he wouldn't be able to see it even as it waved back and forth in front of his face. Kei pulled dout a match box he took from the tavern room he had rented earlier that day, and struck it along the rough edges of his scabbard, lighting a flame for him to see into the pitch black.
As he walked through the brush, moving branches and twigs out of the way of his path, he began to hear voices through the dark. "My back is killing me, let's start again in the morning.." A voice said, another answered the first one,"Didn't you get anything the monk Chiriku said?He needed it before sunrise, and he's paying us a hefty fee to bring it before then." He didn't bother to mention any sort of payment to me.. Kei said to himself as he took in- what he assumed to be- what the workers were saying.

As he crouched down in the bushes listening to the conversation of the workers, the flame from the match had burned the whole stick until it reached Kei's thumb, burning it from the heat. "OW!" Kei whispered to himself, hopefully they had not heard him."[color=teal]What was that?was that you?" The second voice said."No...That came from over there." the first voiced said as he shined his light on the bush Kei was hiding behind.

Damn... Kei had better be still, if he moved, even in the slightest bit, they would discover him for sure. " I'll go check it out!" As soon as that was said, Kei could hear the ever growing sound of footsteps, they were light, he assumed that the person wasn't very big, but that was no reason for Kei to underestimate the man as he approached the bush.

As the mysterious person approached the brush which concealed Kei's presence, Kei began to get worried that he would end up being attacked, or worse, dead.
I have to make my move... Kei thought to himself while the man approached. Eventually the man was standing just inches before Kei, he could hear the man's breathing as he peered through the brush. Kei grabbed a smoke bomb from his pouch and grasped it tightly in his hand, this would be his resort of escape, or possibly a preemptive strike.

"What's that? HEY!" The man spotted Kei, he had no option left but to use his smoke bomb. He threw it on the ground in front of the man, and almost instantaneously, smoke popped out of nowhere, clouding everyone' vision but Kei's. As the two men shouted in confusion, Kei ran around them and knocked both of them out with a quick strike to their neck. They both fell to the ground rather roughly, both out cold. " Sleep for a while... He said as he stepped over their unconscious bodies, but as he stepped forth to the cave's entrance, another much larger worker came out, he seemed to be about 236 pounds, and 6'2''.

"Woah...![/colorThe larger man cracked his knuckles and drew a pick-ax from a nearby rock. Kei rolled his head and prepared for a rough battle, but the thought that he was a trained ninja, and the other guy wasn't, really comforted Kei. "Who the heck are you?" The giant man bellowed out with a ferocious tone. Kei only drew his katana, and with a quick twisting motion with his hands, he flipped it around so that the blade wasn't facing the man."[color=red]I believe that I'm only a shade." and with that, Kei jumped forth and tackled the giant man with such force that it knocked him back about several feet.
The man swung his pickax at Kei with tremendous force, but as Kei saw that he was about to crush his head, he swiftly ducked, feeling the wind from the swing, and swung his katana at the giant brute. This caused a serious concussion to the man's skull, knocking him out for a good while. Kei smoothly swung his blade around and sheathed it in his scabbard, which lay dormant in his obi.

"I'd better be more careful...Who knows lies in wait inside." And with that, Kei set off into the cavern.

The cave was dark, and very wet. The walls were covered in a slimy moss, and every time Kei too a step, his shoes stuck to the floor of the cave. Jeeze!What a mess! he scoffed at the uncomfortable feeling of the dirty cavern, he jut wanted to find this gauntlet-wherever it was- and get back to Sunagakure. But as he went deeper and deeper into the cave, he could sense different air pressures coming from within the cave, this meant different passages waited in the cave's depths. Great, more challenges await...woohoo He was rather dull to the whole situation, it was pitch black, he only had a limited amount of energy left in one of the worker's light. It could get him probably at least half of the way into the cavern, but the rest of the way would have to be with matches.

After thirty minutes of walking through the dark, sticky, moldy cavern, Kei began to hear more voices, this time they were more numerous, and he could also tell that they were digging for something. What is this? he thought as he ventured towards a dimly lit entrance of one of the passageways. As he neared, the voices grew louder, until at long last they grew loud enough for him to distinguish a few conversations. One in particular was about the gauntlet the monk hand lost.
"so that monk went to Sunagakure? Ha! was he that desperate to find his stupid gauntlet. How much do you think we could get for this anyway?[/brown]" Kei was shocked to have heard this, the workers were actually keeping the gauntlet for themselves, even though it had been found so that they could return it for the bounty."[color=yellow]I would say about 3500 ryu." They both laughed and joked about it. There must have been something special about that gauntlet.

Kei needed to find a way to infiltrate the room without causing a fight, so he thought of a way to do so as he searched about the cavern floor and walls. He remembered there was a rat infestation inside these caves, so he set off to find the nest.

He rummaged around the cavern trying to find the nest of rats, maybe if he could stir them up, they could flush out all the workers, or at least keep them distracted long enough for him to grab the gauntlet. He could hear the sounds of little tiny scratches as if some small, furry rodent were scampering about trying to find it's way along the cave walls as well. I'll just follow him. Kei walked what he thought was behind the rodent as it scampered off into the black abyss. Eventually, Kei could hear other little scraps, and scampering noises, followed up by squeaks.
Kei knew he had found the jackpot, but the bigger question now was how he would get them to scurry into the room where all the workers were?

Kei puzzled his chin while he thought, amongst all the noise and racket, he couldn't think very well, but maybe if he were to use a smoke bomb? that's it! A smoke bomb would be perfect!maybe it would startle the little buggers into running out of the cave, and in the confusion, they would run to another spot in 'their' cave. He grabbed another smoke bomb from his pouch and looked to make sure the detonation of the smoke bomb wouldn't hit any of the rats, once he got the sign, he threw the bomb down so that it hit the floor. The impact caused the bomb to explode, releasing all of it's opaque smoke. The rats were completely startled by the bomb, and they all rushed out of their holes by the hundreds, swarming to where Kei stood. He ran the same way they were going until he reached the fork that branched off to the outside, and into the room with the workers. As soon as the rats neared the fork, Kei threw another smoke bomb down, causing the rats to swarm towards the room with all of the workers inside.

All Kei could do now was wait for the chance to enter the room, and as he did he could hear the screams of the cowardly men that cried out in fear of the rats. He could feel them pass by through the smoke as some of them ran out to the cave entrance. Kei chuckled to himself as he walked into the room. The rats were gone, and not a single worker was left, well, all but a single worker who was hanging off a scaffold with his dear life. His cries were desperate, he evidentially wanted someone to help him, and since he could not see Kei, he only assumed he was a fellow worker. "H-HELP ME MAN!!" Kei laughed at his cry, and then noticed he was holding a metallic looking glove. "Sure thing just throw me the gauntlet!" The worker happily and feebly accepted, and dropped the gauntlet. After which, Kei immediately grabbed and wrapped up, putting it inside his pouch. The man tried to look down, but couldn't do to an obvious fear of heights." Are-are you gonna help or what?" Kei held out his arms jut below the man," Yes, just jump, I'll catch!" The man hesitated and then relinquished his grasp on the scaffolding, Kei caught him and set him down. As the man turned to thank Kei, Kei immediately smiled, bowed, and then punched the worker in the face, knocking him out cold.

Kei walked out of the cave rather quickly, he didn't want any of the workers to return and find him there. They would surely kill him, or savagely beat him to a pulp. But right now, Kei could only concentrate on his goal, and that was to return to Sunagakure to give back the old man his gauntlet. But he had forgotten, the old man needed it before sunrise, otherwise his mission would've been in vain. Kei sprinted out of the cavern, and as his appearance was made known to the workers resting outside, they all looked up and blocked his exit. Kei only jumped up, dodging a few blows, and stepped on a few workers to race by. he successfully made it past all of them, but he was being pursued by the workers. He then quickened his pace and rocketed towards to dessert.

Kei made it to the dessert, and it was still nightfall so it was another relief for Kei as he traveled through the dessert. He was happy to have completed his first mission, and all on his own! he was very proud of himself indeed. but still, he didn't feel quite right, maybe the old man was lying and he was just a merchant all along just trying to trick someone into gaining some unneeded profit.
He paused his sprint to a halt, and stood there gazing at his pouch, maybe he was right.

He took the gauntlet out of his bag and examined it thoroughly, eventually he slipped it on. and as he did, the sand from either side of him exploded into the air, revealing two very large, very ferocious dessert spider. Kei was in deep trouble, he couldn't take them both on....Or could he?
"FINE!YOU WANT A PIECE OF ME?" Kei yelled out as the two beasts raced their way towards him," You eight legged freaks!I'll--" Kei was caught off by a voice crying out to him from above,"Don't deal with them, let me take care of them."
And sure enough, there was the monk, he was soaring down from above, both arms crossed, and he lammed into both spiders, catching their front two appendages before the struck Kei. Wha? Kei was astounded, he had no idea the old man had such fighting spirit,'I'll tech you both a lesson!" He shouted out as he flexed all of his upper body muscles and tossed the first spider like it was a rag doll, and then followed by the other. After which, the old man dusted off his hands and coughed rather hard before finally crouching back down again.

Kei and the old man had started a very fine conversation, each telling their struggles they had to endure during their journeys. The old man laughed at Kei's tale of heroics, and how he saved the gauntlet from being sold to the black market. And kei laughed while the old man shared his story on how he had lost the gauntlet in the first place, assuring Kei that he actually was a monk.
"I thank you for all your hardships, I know it wasn't easy, here, take this as part of my gratitude." Kei held out his hands as the monk drew his into Kei's, placing a small bag of ryu in his palm," It's not much, but it should cover a decent ride to wherever your feet dread to ever wonder to." Kei bowed and thanked the old man, before finally he left.
Kei stared as the old man set off towards the horizon, his usual bobbing motion was replaced by a sturdy stride, as if the gauntlet returning to him gave back some kind of dormant strength.

Kei smiled, he felt good for helping the monk. And as he stared at the monk walking off in the distance, the sun peaked, and as it did, the light made the old man glow. And without a further second passing by, the old man vanished, like a phantom in the wind, returning to his voyage back to the spiritual realm for eternal sleep.
