Ryoma sat there, wondering if it was he whom it was entrusted upon to become the leader of the Shinigami clan one day. He was yet a mere child only the rank of a captain in the 11th division. He was most powerful after the general and the second general. His task was going to be hard. It was going to take a long time, he had to learn it fast and quick. He knew something was approaching this world which he had to take care of. His first task would be to learn White Lightning, he had no care for this before. But as he grew older he realized he needed it to learn his shikai form. He knew naught why but all from his noble family had this jutsu before ever meeting shikai standards.
