Only a day had passed after the chuunin exams in Otogakure were finalized. One of the failures of the exam, Nesuki, felt like his heart was ready to burst. All of his training was for nothing. He took twenty steps forward, but from the beginning he was doomed because he did not realize that he was already set back twenty one steps. He had learned all he could from Kirigakure and now he wondered if he should even return. They could not even equip him with a good enough teacher to allow him to protect their ranks, so what were they to him. Just a small branch of his family resided there, but he would not miss them. They had ways of finding people they really wanted to find. Thus Nesuki embarked out on a new path that led him away from the Hidden Mist Village. He would now live his life on the outside without rules. He had just been declared unworthy; he would see how long he went unmissed. If it was not for his own accomplishments to be achieved, then he was no longer taking orders from anyone.

"Damn kid." A cold woman's voice said as foot steps of high heels could be heard approaching. The woman's eyes were darkly and her stance was firm. She really wasn't one to be trifled with. As she approached Nesuki, she sighed and moved her hair to the side. "Most everyone has returned home and yet you're here. You're either running away or ashamed to return home. If it's that latter, you shouldn't be." She said as she looked at the ninja and then her eyes batted softly. "Hell, I've never made the exams either. I somehow managed to become a Proctor though. Titles are titles. Nothing more." She said as she held out her hand and an explosion of chakra happened. It began sparking and a deep chirping sound could be heard. "Sometimes, power comes without title." She smiled. "I'm Setsuna."

A moment passed before the voice of a vixen could be heard. Like a lonely melody it carried through the wind to reach his ears. It was a familiar song, but he did not realize who the artist was until he turned around to look the woman in her eyes. Her hair draped and her heels kept that same tempo as before. It was the proctor from the exams. It was the same woman that stole his heart in the beginning, and the same woman that snapped his shoulder in the end, or so he assumed. He never really got the chance to see the woman that did that and listening to her voice was like liquor as it went in the same and came out the same with the tone of beauty. After she finished her words he spoke, “ To formally introduce myself, I am Nesuki Shiatamme. It is not the fact that I failed those people Miss Setsuna… I mourn because I feel like I failed myself in thinking that I could impress everyone. I am down because even when the rope was there before me to grant me to proceed, I turned it away and allowed a simple handicap to be my crutch. I...I...I just don’t know where to begin on this new road.”

"Awww, poor boy." She leaned down and kissed Nesuki on the lips to calm him and then grabbed his head violently. "Let me explain. You're weak cause you want to be. Killing someone doesn't make you strong. It kills your soul. That boy fought for the same reason you did, to make a name for himself. Both of you took it far. That's why I snapped your shoulder." She said forcefully as she pushed the boy back several feet with her insane strength. She sighed as she took out a scroll and then tossed it to the boy and watched as it glowed with a bit of electrical current and then approached the boy. "Want to make yourself powerful? Wish to know the world of the lonely? Sign your life over to me and I will begin showing you the deep world." She said as she let her hair cover her left side of her face.

Nesuki listened to the woman’s words as she neared him. Before he could respond to whet he thought of a sweet taunt, he felt her seductive lips placed against his and his eyes widened greatly to what she was doing. He just knew that this was too good to be true. His intuition would be correct as he then felt a lock become encased on his head as she yanked him hard like when she decided to break his arm. She then spoke to him again with words to hold onto, even though they really pissed him off since she was who he assumed to have broken his arm. Stupidity would have overtaken his body if he was to act harshly, so before he could act like a sane person, he found himself being thrown backward with a forceful push that sent him to his back, but because he had his body strapped, he simply fell on it and bounced up from his shoulders, out of his bandages that connected the two, and back to his feet with an unorthodox stance.

His arms then dropped as he knew she was not trying to pick a fight, but rather help him. She threw a scroll to him but it landed on the ground. He looked at the jolts of energy just illuminate around it as he wondered what his next move would be. She brought up only one thing that he disliked, and that was him signing over to her. She enticed him with power and loneliness and he could not refuse the odds even though he just vowed to follow himself and only himself. He picked up the scroll to see the energy had little to no effect on his as he spoke, “I’ll do it. How do I sign over my loyalty.” He looked over to the woman as he contracted his arm out from his sling.

The woman smiled and then snapped her fingers. The scroll then unfurled and then laid there with a dark warning inside.

He of sane mind and body may only sign this scroll.
Doing so condemns your soul to the holder of it.
Should you break your vow, you shall die horribly.
Should you abandon your Kami, you will die horribly.
Should you act in a manner causing harm to your Kami, you will die.

Should you obey, you will be granted the power of your Kami.
You will become a master of Lightning.

"Sign your name in blood. That's it." She smiled.

A literal snap of a finger occurred to make the scroll unfold into a warning filled with rules and regulations of the pact. Nesuki read it over carefully, and he thought of it all like this was his last day of living for real. He did not now if he would really gain power beyond all measures, or if he would lose everything he had with no rewards, but at this point in his life he felt like he had nothing really available to lose. He was down on himself so it was time for a new start in his life. He brought his left hand to his mouth as he dropped to his knees to be at a reasonable reaching range to sign to the scroll. He bit his index finger violently to make it so that he only had to do this one time. Instantly he could taste his own crimson as he lowered his hand down to the scroll and began to sign his name. Shortly after, he dabbed all of his fingertips to his bloody finger and placed his prints below his signature. He then awaited a response from Setsuna to what would happen next.

Setsuna nodded as the sky above her began to turn dark and then she closed her eyes. Her chakra began to shine all over her body and then she began a chant as the sky above her began to thunder hard and shift. Then her eyes opened and electricity began to spark from her eyes. She approached the ninja and then held him and whispered in his ear. "In order to live, you must first die." She said as her aura of chakra increased and before anything could be done, a massive bolt of lightning hit them both and Setsuna released the boy, absorbing her share of the bolt. But she wasn't dumb. She knew the bolt will kill the boy if his will was weak. The sheer pain would send him into Death Sleep but he would awaken. She stood back and let the rebirth commence.

After looking up to the woman he had decided to follow, Nesuki could see her nod of acceptance as in the same view he could see the sky begin to change. Dark clouds rolled in from seemingly no where as lightning began to randomly chuckle and display a scene of a magnificent sight unlike any thunderstorm the boy had ever endured. In fact, he knew this was not a thunderstorm that was created naturally, but by a power much stronger force than anything he had ever seen. From the sheer force it spoke of and the arrangements it made in the air, it was completely unnatural. He knew that after signing the scroll and remembering the words it warned him with that this was the will of his Kami. It was an obstacle of actually becoming a master of lightning.

The boy stood to his feet and instantly he was grabbed by Setsuna as he looked into her eyes that looked more like the lightning than what had formed in the sky. He did not fear it for he had just signed an oath to every definition of her creation. It also helped that he was no stranger to lightning. It had always been present in his blood since birth as he could control it like his fingers and better than he could move his toes. He breathed heavily to the sight before him as she spoke in his ear and told him something that he just knew was not to be just an expression of words. He would grow to take everything she told him in as being very literal and real. He had just been reborn in his lifestyle, but he could feel that he was now about to go further than the measly little oaths that were spoken of in times of extreme compassion when thinking of one’s shinobi way.

Nesuki continued to look at the woman as he felt he presence pass that of physical contact, but by means similar to the energy that they shared. Her energy was so vast and supernatural that he felt like the pressure of the world had been released onto him, but that would soon fade as a single narrow bolt smashed down from that which occurred above hem and smashed him directly with a shock. It came too fast to remember, too fast to realize, too fast to react to, and too fast o say it’s over. In a moments time Nesuki’s thoughts stopped, but bodily his teeth cringed with the strike and his body fell over to the ground as the hollow mind of Nesuki went on, and then he saw it.

Within a plane of another level Nesuki was lost. He laid in a pit of darkness while looking at the eyes of death coming for him at a very slow pace that made him wonder about what he had just encountered, but after realizing that he was not ready to die he became focused. It was not everyday that you see a boney cloaked figure just approach and prepare to take you forever. He had to be in the area that meant he was still neither dead nor alive, but rather in between the furthest place and the place known to everyone else. He had to get out. He could not take death again. He had experienced the end of things to many times in his life to have been blessed with a grand opportunity unlike no other and just see it all be pushed away from him. No… he wanted what he vowed for. He now had a reason to live. If he could not follow his own way completely, then he would not go back on his word. He was not to break his vow. He was not to abandon his Kami. He was not to harm his Kami. All of those were small prices to gain the power of his Kami and to become a master of lightning!

Through his eyes the Shinigami continued to progress to him in the never-ending world of darkness to only arrive at the boy and bring back light. The disillusioned eyes of the soul went back into the body as Nesuki laid to the ground looking at the feet of Setsuna before as he took in a deep breath of air to restore his body from his scary dream. He then panted ferociously repeatedly to accept that he was no longer dead, but once again alive in the world of man.

Setsuna stood there as the rain fell on them and then she looked down. Her eyes were normal and her aura gone. The boy was breathing hard as he seemed to have accepted the rebirth and then she nodded as the thunder above her cracked and roared. She nodded to someone and then took a deep breath.

"I do not remember who I am. I know who I've become. I was chosen by the Thunder God himself to be his muse. I was blessed with radiance. The process you have gone through is called Rebirth. It's a rare process induced by a powerful jutsu only a summon of God-Class can use. When I was younger, I was Rebirth. The bloodline I was attached to was gone. All my skills wiped away except the core basics. I was a blank slate. All I know is that I went from being able to manipulate wind into using Lightning."

She rested her hand on the boys chest and then began focusing her chakra. As she did, it began draining into him and then her eyes began to glaze.

"I now.... grant you the rebirth. Nesuki. Seek out the Sage of Thunder. They say, a wolf who spirals is hidden in the leaves and holds the key to the Sage. Seek him out." She said as she gave him all her chakra and then fell to the floor. Her body was limp. She was gone as quick as she came.
