Normal: In the unreleased state, Fuuraiken looks like an ordinary masamune, a sword five feet long, with a foot long hilt and a four feet blade. It is made of tempered steel and will not break easily.
Shikai: The shikai form of the sword is a lot different. It changes from a masamune to a crafted longsword.
Shikai Abilities:
Stun Edge - the wielder of Fuuraiken can fire off lightning missiles at the opponent. These move at a high speed and have shocking and stunning effects upon contact. Costs light amount of chakra.
Greed Sever - this ability sends a powerful surge of electricity through the blade. It slightly improves the cutting power of the sword itself, but is mostly meant to shock and stun the opponent, as the electrical surge will travel through any conduit. Costs light amount of chakra
Ride the Lightning - a charge-type attack, where a sphere of lightning with a three meter diameter forms around the user. The sphere holds for 5 seconds. Should the opponent touch the sphere, he will suffer a severe electrical shock and will be completely stunned for at least 2 seconds. The main purpose of this attack is to create an opening in the enemy's defense, or shock the opponent to create an advantage. Costs moderate amount of chakra.
Bankai: While the shape of the blade itself remains the same, the user's clothing change a lot. In this form, electricity constantly surges through the blade, effectively shocking and stunning the opponent with every blow. It retains the abilities of the shikai form and gives access to some more powerful moves. It also boosts Toushiro's speed and agility.
Bankai Abilities:
Sacred Edge - the user draws a circle in the air, and then thrusts his palm towards the opponent. A spear-shaped lightning forms within the circle and then flies in the pointed direction at a very high speed. This attack not only has powerful shocking and stunning effects, but also has the power to penetrate a suit of armor and the person wearing it. Costs moderate amount of chakra.
Rising Force - the most powerful ability of Fuuraiken. The user will make a thrust with the sword, and a powerful lightning bolt will discharge from it. This attack is a very powerful move. The lightning bolt reaches to 30 feet distance and is 2 feet in diameter, and has the power to penetrate virtually anything in its reach. This attack is also very hard to dodge, since the discharge is instantaneous. Costs very high amount of chakra.
This weapon is a Jinki, one of the eight pieces of The Outrage.

I would mention that both of these forms cost chakra. The Shikai only when the fire missiles are used, but continuously with Bankai and an even larger amount when using fire torrents. _________________ Syra's Theme - 463
