Description: The widely known technique, Byakugan is a doujutsu with an unmatched level of vision. When activated, it allows the user to see in every direction at the same time, with only a small blind spot at some angle above their back. More than that, it allows one to scan wide areas by letting them see through objects and over a distance of up to ten miles. Finally, they can detect chakra even better than the Sharingan, capable of seeing even the chakra circulatory system of living creatures. However, Byakugan does not have the Sharingan's ability to detect and anticipate high-speed movement.
While the Byakugan only has one stage, the level of power between its general level and that which only a few can achieve is vast. Generally, mastering this doujutsu yields all the same powers to a clan member, with only one tiny difference, which creates a large gap in power as a result. This difference is the ability to see tenketsu, special regulatory points in one's chakra circulatory system. By attacking these points with Jyuuken, the Hyuuga can affect the flow of chakra in their opponent's body without limit. With that said, they cannot be attacked without being able to see them, which is the reason why two Hyuugas of the same average skill level can have entirely different combat power. |
" Emily, what are you doing with your life? Go out and train, you stand her now and you can't even activate your Byakugan. Focus on something for once in your life.... what would your brother say...." I walked down the roads of Konoha slowly. Thinking about what my father said silently to myself. I couldn't deny that my father was right. Ever since Koi had died it seemed that I just gave up on life. I have around my room endlessly, of course the were times when I had to go on a few missions. Though even then the amount of enthusiasm I had for them was nothing. I have not trained in what feels like years, i sure my skills and abilities are slipping away from me. Most of all I have yet to activate my Byakugan, there are younger kids than me who have and I have almost have no hopes of ever getting close. Though the last words seemed to cut deep into me even more. "What would your brother say?" my father knew that was a low blow to me. Koi was the only thing that ever kept me going. He was my only ambition in life. Even as a child I could answer the hard question the adults asked their kids. "What do you want to be when you grow up? Of course my answer was always the same no matter what....." I want to be like Koi" My parents would just laugh and nod their heads. A well trained and powerful Hyuuga, who wouldn't like to be like my brother? But I guess in the end, all that rise up in power, have to fall sometime. I just wished that is hadn't been so soon.
" Excuse me miss.... can you help me." An elderly woman suddenly tapped me on the shoulder. As I looked at her I could see that perhaps her time was soon coming as well. her figure and posture horrid from her age. i was sure if i tried i could easily break her bones, as frail as they seemed. Though despite her looks I could see that this woman had life in her. Her eyes sparkled brightly as she spoke. And despite her frail looking body I noticed a small spring in her step. " You are a hyuuga are you not?" I smiled at her nodded. It seemed that my hair and eyes always gave me away while I was around other people. Sometimes it was a bit annoying. Though other times, like now, it was a bit flattering. " That is great dear. Now I sent my husband off to get some milk at the store a couple blocks away. Though that was almost an hour ago. He was wearing a straw hat a bright green robes. Could you use your Byakugan to see where he might be?"
I frowned when I heard the request. Of course she would ask something of me that I could not do. It seemed that the citizens have grown accustomed to having the Hyuuga around because of their bloodline. And lucky for me I was the one Hyuuga that couldn't activate it. I had to shake my head and apologize for being so weak. " I am sorry, I can't use Byakugan. i.. I haven't trained to use it yet." I gave the woman a half smile as i spoke, trying to show that I was being serious. As the look on her face showed me that she thought i was playing a joke on her. Her eyes narrowed when she looked at me, studying my expression. then she looked at me with surprise, she shook her head making a small clicking noise with her tongue. She turned around and started walking back into her shop. " Shame, a Hyuuga that can't use Byakugan. Must be a side branch member then. ' i stood there in utter grief as the woman walked inside closing the door behind her. I really was the shame of the family then. Maybe it was best to just leave the family, take that shame away.
I continued my walk down the street, passing stalls and shops throughout the area. Little kids played in the streets with balls that seemed to have made themselves. She smiled at them and waved. the kids laughed and waved back, bright grins on their faces. I sighed and sat down on a rock on the edge of the streets. Facing the trees that led towards the Konoha forests. Off towards the shops I caught a glimpse of red and locked on to it. A man slouched over wearing red robes and a straw hat was walking down the road some distance away. I thought about running over to him and letting him know about his wife's anxiety. But in the end I simply stayed put. what would be the use? I am a failure, I was always destined to be. You know Emily, between you and me. If you want to be great. You have to try and change your destiny. Don't leave everything to fate. Koi's words suddenly flashed through my mind. it stood up then. Looking around through the tree before me.
Destiny was not going to hold me down. Just like Koi said before, sometimes you have to change your destiny. I focused intently on the trees in front of me, I could hear birds chirping inside the green growth. Though there was no site of them in the leaves and branches. I took a deep breath and looked through the mess of green and brown. I brought chakra to me eyes, trying to increase the range and clarity of my vision. Hoping to be able to see past the normal leaves. Hoping to be able to get a glimpse beyond what i normally could. The chakra behind my eyes began to build and I felt a warmth start to fill me head. A felt a small prickle just below my eyes and suddenly warmth flooded my eye sockets. The outsides of my vision began to blur and I could see the range of my vision begin to extend outward. Everything started to blur together though and branches that I was focusing on began to disappear. I gasped as I realized I was starting to do it. Though that caused me to loose my concentration and I felt the heat fade away. My vision returned to normal and all was back to they way it was. I cursed silently and turned around facing the streets again. I crossed my arms, in anger. So much for changing destiny huh Koi

I stood stiff looking out at the stones of the road ahead of me. Heat starting to build, though instead of chakra, this time it was because my anger seemed to heat me up. I could feel my cheeks start to get pink and my hands were beginning to sweat. Taking short breathes anyone walking by at this point could assume that I was very agitated. I looked at the kids that wved to me earlier. they had all frozen still and their large eyes were focused on me. One kid who had the ball, actually flinched when I looked at him. The ball fell from his hands hitting the street with a loud thud. The kid scrambled to pick the ball back up and the rest of kids started to run away. I took a step forward and reached out my hand, palm out showing that I didn't mean any harm. But the kids were already gone by this time. I stood their looking at the spot where I had seen them so happy a few minutes before. Was i really that scary, did I put off that much of anger? I looked down finding the ball that the kids had been using now slowly rolling towards me. I picked it up and looked at it. It was barely worn, perhaps even brand new. I gazed back down the way the kids had ran, wondering if I should follow them to give the ball back. Though I there were so many turns and streets that way. there was no chance I would choose the same path as they did. i couldn't know where they were going, unless.
The only way to be sure of their route would be for me to use the Byuakugan. I sighed, not knowing my chances of getting it right this time. Though I had to try, I had to. Closing my eyes and took a deep breath. I began building up my chakra slowly, trying to a new way as I did last time. Instead of sending a powerful wave of chakra to my eyes, I tried to send a steady flow, like a river filling moving out into a sea. I sent a small stream towards the points in my eyes, building a slow heat of chakra in the area. I could feel the same prickle start to touch my eyes as I did before, though this time it started to move around the entire area near my eyes. I could feel the heat of my chakra suddenly become very large. Suddenly I felt the veins on the sides of my head start to bulge. With a final flow of energy I opened my eyes, hoping that this would be moment I changed my destiny....

I opened my eyes, looking out to find that I did indeed accomplish my goal. I stood still for a few minutes, letting my mind wrap around the area. Trying to process all te information it was receiving now. I looked down the end of the road, focusing on the shop that I remember the old woman at. the walls of the building seemed to melt away when i focused on them, letting me look directly inside he small shack. The woman was still there, sitting at the table, after a few seconds she peered over at a large clock that hung from the wall. I smiled and began to search around the streets surrounding that shop. I scanned over, looking through stalls, people, stores, searching for any hint of a red robe. After a few seconds I found it. A red robed man was just taking of his straw as he sat down on a stool. I read the sign above the place. Konoha's FlyWheel Pub. I smiled and laughed at myself as I realized that this man was simply trying to run away from his wife. With so much life in her at that age I was sure that the poor got a few hits from the frying pan every now and then.
I looked down towards the roads that I saw the children run off to. As I had known there were many streets and corners in the area. I scanned around searching for a small figure. Among the many people that walked around the area. It was hard for me to really distinguish one from the others. Though I knew that the children were someone around that area. I thought clicked in me head at that moment. of course with all the grown men and woman around, they would be able to easily obscure my view of finding those kids. But I knew that kids have a much lower chakra supply. If I could trace the low chakra flow to the source, then I could find them. I changed the chakra to my eye's my vision shifting from seeing the colors of shapes of normal sight, to seeing only masses of energy and chakra around me. I looked towards the streets, seeing a chakra signature that was easily noticeable as a child's. I focused onto it, trying to chakra it back to the source. It was hard, this part of my Byakugan was limited at this point. Seeing chakra system to the finest details was not something that all Hyuuga could do. That was a clan secret that hasn't been let out yet.
I strained my eyes to their limits, trying to follow that small flow, but once I hit the mass of people it was to hard to follow in the many chakra networks that I saw before me. It was like trying to follow one strand in a mess of multiple nets that were all tangled together. I sighed and stopped the flow of chakra to my eyes. Everything began to shrink back and the clarity and range of the area went back to normal. I panted as the toll of the Byakugan took hold. It wasn't that bad, I had not got used to the focus needed to sustain the sight yet. So far I was still trying to correctly process all the new information. I sat back down on the rock, trying to regulate my breathing. looking down at the ball in my hands I wondered if the enhanced part if the bloodline could help me find the owner. I had tried it already yes, the amount of chakra supply in the area from all the people around was a bit overwhelming. Though. I am sure, if i kept going at it, like I did before. Maybe it would be easier, maybe I can get it down. I hung my head, first though. I had to let myself recover a bit, then, yes then I would try again....

I sat on the rock for a few minutes. taking deep breathes as my mind and body started to recover. I waited for my heart to slow back down and i thought about how it would be best to enhance my Byakugan. I had already tried by myself but, things just didn't seem to work out. If not everyone can use that part of the Byakugan, then there might be some sort of secret to it? Could Koi use the Byakugan at its full power? II couldn't quite remember, but he did teach me something about it didn't he? He had to, he taught me everything he knew almost. he showed me how the Byakugan worked, how it was used, and how you can....
Enter Flashback
I ran through the grass clearing, dropping small tags everywhere every few seconds. Putting on under a rock. On behind a tall bush. One inside a gopher hole. I peeked over the bush at Koi. He was standing in the middle of the clearing, his arms relaxed at his sides. I looked at his eye, as I had expected they were shut tightly." No cheating Brother, you promised..." I didn't really expect him to peak at where I was hiding the tags, but I had to make sure anyway, just in case. Once I was positive he hadn't seen my hiding spots I continued on, going further away from the middle of the clearing. I hid one in a birds nest. One simply behind a tree. Then I carefully stacked two on top of each other in a branch, hoping to throw him off. Once I was done I ran around the clearing a few times to catch him of guard. Then I ran up to him...' Ok Koi, try to find them all. I think I will get you this time."
Koi slowly opened his eyes i saw the veins on the side of is head suddenly pulse through the skin. he stood rigid in place as i saw his eyes make only small flickering movements. I watched him as a big smile grew on my face. I might have finally stumped him. Koi sighed and the veins around his eyes died down. he looked at me a smiled..." Well Emily, I am surprised you were able to move that rock. But hiding something behind a bush and a tree is nothing to creative. As well both that gopher and the bird are not going to be happy about your other hiding places. Though nice stacking trick on the branch.." Koi laughed and messed up my hair before going to collect the tags. i sighed and sat down. No matter what it seemed that i could never hide those tags well enough. Koi always found them no matter what.
" Hey Koi, how do you activate your Byakugan? Maybe I can try it." As i said this I squeezed my eyes shut tightly, then opened them finding no change at all. Koi saw this and sat down next to me laughing. he set the tags down on his lap and smiled." You can't activate Byakugan just by closing your eyes Emmy. though how do i do it? That is easy, I focus chakra to the chakra points behind my eyes, then release it in small pulses in order to stimulate my eyes responses. that way it increases my eye site and activates the Kekkai genkai, though by doing it my way I am able to do something really special as well." I looked up at him in awe, my bright eyes now wide with interest. "What is it koi, what can you do?" Koi laughed and stood up, taking my hand in his he dragged me to my feet. " Perhaps i will tell you another time ok. We should get home now, come on Emmy bear... you want a piggy back ride?".....
Exit Flash Back
I shot up into standing position then, he face curled up into a sly grin. That brother of mine, always keeping things a secret, sometimes even to me. But of course he knew I would have figured it out at some point. Though I only wish he could be here to see me now. I shrugged off the though and stood poised for action. I closed my eyes, taking a deep breath and starting to focus chakra in the points behind my eyes. Heat started to raise up in the area and I could feel the same prickling sensation as last time. Feeling my veins begin to pulse and sighed. Concentrating on my chakra I began to release it in quick short pulses, sending them towards my eyes. Within a few seconds the heat turned into a soothing and comforting warmth. The prickling feeling died away slightly and I felt almost a tickle around the edge of my eyes. I kept up the pulses of chakra for a few seconds, making sure not to loose focus. Then I slowly opened my eyes, hoping that my brother would pull through for me one more time...
