OOC: Before anyone asks, the title is a metaphor.

IC: His sunken eyes clasped onto the last moments of the sunset. It's blinding rays of orange and gold burned his retinas but he dared not look away. He wanted to stay here forever, basking in the perfection of light. Frozen in time so that his life only contained beauty. The suns rays dipped lower, inching ever closer to the darkened fading. His eyes averted at the final ray disappeared underneath the Earth's core. The sky of a dark purple hue hung over his head like a velvet blanket; wrapping him soothingly.

He sighed softly as he slowly returned to himself. He knew that if he remained here for long he would be killed on site. He was sure that the man who attacked him would not take long to find him and was undoubtedly part of a larger group. If he remained he would be killed. He would have to train; there would be no possibility for survival unless he became more powerful.

Brushing the dust off his black cloak and dress pants, he pulled himself into an upright position. If there was one thing he knew, it was grace; one never stood with their head bowed or their shoulders slumped. One must have pride or die without reason. He fell downwards into his pit of despair at the looming death; it seemed so much closer now that night had drawn its veil over the world. He started his gradual descent down the side of the cliff. Down below he knew there was a cave which would keep him safe until at least the morning.

"I will be hiding in a cave on the outskirts of Otogakure. For the moment it will keep me safe. Return there when you are done with your exams. I wish you luck."

He was still wounded a bit from his battle as he refused to get medical treatment after being stabbed in the chest. He was fanless for the moment but it did not care. He was seeking out his "master" and "guardian". He had been walking for some hours bleeding slightly. If not for his ability to judge wounds and address them properly, he would have died long before on his venture. He did not know where he was going specifically, only that it was a cave on the outskirts. No one gave him mind as he walked through the streets of the Rice Country. And no one cared either, for a better man would have suggested he rest.

He walked all the way to the edge of the town and sighed as he approached a large cliffside with a path leading down to the cave where he knew Blood would be waiting. As he approached slowly, he could see a figure in the dark and he hurried along faster. There was no metal to impede him this time and his body reacted fast. He ran all the way down and towards the figure. As he did, he threw his arms around Blood and began to tear. "I thought you died..." Arekkusu said wincing in both pain and fear.

IC: I'm finally having a Blood flashback that explains everything but his name. Enjoy.

IC: Blood smiled softly as his heart warmed. He didn't think he had affected the child as such. He didn't think anyone could love him after what he had done. What he had done to avenge his wife. His old life; back when his name was another. The haunting memories flooded back into his mind like a sick theater but he couldn't look away since his body was frozen.

He was brought back to the haunting day which the shinobi murdered everything he held dear. It was like any other day. He was sitting by the window while the rain drizzled down. All the landscape contained was the trees and the mountains which surrounded his home. He lived in a rural area, far in the countryside away from cityfolk and shinobi.

Ever since he was young his father told him not to become involved with those kinds of people and he stuck by it. All that came from associating with them was trouble. He stayed far away from them in the Iwagakure No Sato village. He stayed in his small village of a couple hundred and lived peacefully, writing songs and plays. His only occupation was writing musicals and plays and other such things and selling them to enormous companies which would than produce the plays. He was well known within his home country as one of the greatest composers. He never believed that but he accepted the compliments nontheless. His wife, Sophia, was a medical practitioner. She was the only doctor of two within the village.

With her necessary work and his quiet lifestyle they remained peaceful in the village for decades. That was until a stranger came upon them one day. A young man, wounded and obviously dying, came to their door in seek of assistance. Although against his nature Blood reluctantly agreed to have the man cared for within his home. Although the boy was mortally wounded, his wife's attempts at saving his life lengthened it by four months. After he passed away he requested Blood to send a letter home. He did so compliantly; one did not deny a man his dying wish. He went to the border on horseback and delivered a letter within Kohonagakure.

However when he returned he was left in disaster. His home was in ruin, barely discernable from the wreckage. His wife, dead and forever gone, lay as ashes within the burnt rubble. He was broken but had to know who did this. He asked the people around the village and learned that the attack was done by ANBU of almost every village. His emptiness was soon replaced with a deep hatred and a lust for vengeance. He left his home village and went in search of a sensei that would teach him the ways of a shinobi. In the deep forests of Kohona he found a Missing Ninja who was willing to teach him.

Eight months after intense training Cardinal Blood was considered to be Chuunin rank. His teacher feared him uprising and bringing him in, so he attempted to kill Blood. Instead, Blood killed him and returned the carcass to Iwagakure. Ever since then he traveled from village to village, killing all those shinobi who attacked his home that day. Until he finished and could die as the One Mother wished.

" Do not worry my child..." He murmured in a dazed delusion. " I will be ready soon."

Arekkusu pulled away from the man and then sighed a moment as he took of his shawl revealing no weapon. "Can we go back to Suna and attempt to get me a new fan? I'm pretty useless without it. Or maybe you can make me a new one?" He asked with a subtle tone of innocence in his voice. He looked back out the cave where the sun now setting. As he did, he pulled out the note he had recived and ripped it apart. He threw it out the cave and watched as the wind picked up the pieces and carried them out.

"They say... that if let something go... and it comes back to you... it's meant to be there forever. I don't believe in fairy tales, however. I suppose... you taught me that." Arekkusu turned around and then nodded. "I might not be the best person... but I will be your apprentice and I will always follow you. Me and you are a team now!" He said as the moon rose slightly into the now fading sun. It seemed to give the younr teen a small glow around him. "And when you're ready to die... I'll be there. I won't let you die till the right time comes. And even then... I'll keep fighting to keep you alive!" He yelled with passion in his voice and ferocity in his eyes.

The boy's proclamation snapped Blood back to the present. He laughed heartily though not believing a word of it. Blood was going to die for the One Mother. No mortal could change his destiny. His heart was soft and his mind light as his thoughts deviated from the sorrowful thought. The now was occupying himself wholly. The now was in the form of a child which he had to protect. It was now more important than ever for him to become strong enough to protect him. Lest what happened last time.

" Excellent..." He said softly. " We both have something to strive for." He began climbing down the cliff. It was becoming dark but now that his pupil had returned there was no time for sleep. This was the time for the training. " Come along. Watch your step; some of these rocks are loose."

"Blood..."

Arekkusu froze for a moment. He wasn't sure he should be training with his wound still unhealed and weaponless. He began to follow Blood down the descent of the mountain silently. There was still the matter of replacing his weapon and then telling Blood he was angry for not telling him why he did not come after him after escaping his life-threatening situation. On the climb down, he began thinking of his fan and it's limitations. He though deeply about how he could make it more dangerous as a close counter weapon. Then the idea struck him. He would tell Blood at the base of the cliff what his idea was and how together they could create it.

The dim light hid everything past the upper cliff. Closer to the bottom the sillhoutes of the distant trees loomed over the landscape. At the base of the cliff lay an open bumpy plain surrounded by stone cliffs. He was still comfortable with walking on it during nighttime; it was only slight slopes and no rocks.

He slid off the last few feet and stopped at the bottom. He looked upwards and watched the shadowy figure of his pupil finish his descent. Once at the same level he walked away from the wall and towards the center of the small alcove.

He stopped abruptly and took a deep breath. The crisp bite of evening's air met his flared nostrils. This would be the perfect time for jutsu training. The energy around him was slow. The constant buzzing of activity was low and barely discernable. All that remained around him was quiet, tranquility. The peace of the night would bring peace of mind while training. He drew his scythe and a scroll that contained jutsu. He knew that he couldn't read the scroll but he would need it to identify once he learned his newest jutsu.

" I may need to train separately from you for now," He said to Arrekusu. " I have many jutsu to learn this night and I can't be disturbed. Please occupy your time wisely. If you are in need of aid, feel free to ask me but make sure it is of importance."

"Oh... I see." Arekkusu said as he finally made it to the bottom of the cliff. He jumped off and then sat down on the floor to regain his energy. He took a deep breath and then stood up and walked over to Blood and then used his tip toes to get up close enough to Blood's cheek and kissed it. "If you're busy I'll work on my idea for my fan. Just be safe and don't get hurt. I'm not trained well enough to do medical jutsus. I'll be over there if you need me. I doubt it but I'll still be there." Arekkusu gave a small hug to Blood and then trodded off to plan out what he could do for a weapon.

OOC: I'm spending 80 Ryo to finish this jutsu in this post. That leaves me with 105.

IC: Blood nodded to Arrekusu as he disappeared past his vision. Which he soon hoped to override. Blood looked at the scroll. The words were hidden by darkness but he would not give in to it. He would see past what the world was hiding and use it to his advantage. His hands disappeared into a flurry of hand signs. The chakra welled up within his eyes and was released into the sight. He watched as the world around him slowly grew brighter. It instantly dimmed again.

He growled softly but kept his composure. He would simply attempt the jutsu again. He ran through the familiar movements and released the chakra into his eyes. He looked upon the scroll but saw nothing. His growling grew incessantly louder until the fourty-seventh attempt where he screamed into the void of darkness that his eyes could not penetrate.

An hour later after more frustrated attempts his eyes were finally able to pierce the darkness which once bound him. Now his true training could began. He skimmed through the scroll and stopped on a dot. It read, " Sword Jutsu." He smiled softly and began to read the necessary hand seals.

Arekkusu had been watching Blood train and felt he was hindering him from it. He sighed as he stood up and then gave a final look at him. He went back to the cliff and began to climb slowly up the cliff. He struggled as his wound was stinging from the sweat sliding over it. He fought a harsh blast of wind as he climbed and finally made it to the top and then looked back down toward his "master" and guardian. He turned around and walked towards the village. He was going to look for a new fan and possibly a way to become stronger. At this moment, he would need it as long as he was on the run.
